My wedding gown needed two stains removed from it, and I also had a beaded belt that I wanted sewn on the dress. I originally went in during the month of December to have the seamstress look at it and they told me it would be no problem, that it would only take about a week to complete what needed to be done. I brought the dress back during the 2nd week of January and left it for the work to be done. Again I was told it would only be about a week, and I left all of my information including phone number and email address. I was told Id get an email when it was ready. Two weeks passed and I still had heard nothing. I tried sending an email to them, but they did not return it. I called and was told it wasnt ready. At the end of the third week, I called again. They could not even find my dress in the computer system. After a few minutes of looking, they found it in the same room in which I had left it three weeks earlier, untouched, absolutely nothing had been done to it. They said it would be ready by the end of the next week. They didnt seem to care when I expressed my concern that it had already been there for 3 weeks and my wedding was in 5 weeks. I called again at the end of the next week (it had been there for 5 weeks at that point). They told me it was ready and had been for several days. I asked why I hadnt received an email or a call. They said they didnt have my contact information, to which I replied I had given all of this to them on at least 2 occasions. I went to pick up the dress and was in a hurry so just grabbed it and left without looking at it, although I did notice that my contact info, including the email address and phone number they claimed they didnt have, was plainly written on a card in the clear pocket on the outside of the garment bag. When I looked at it later that afternoon, the belt had only been tacked on by about 10 stitches that were a couple of inches apart each. This is a pretty heavy belt with all the beading, so it definitely needs more than a few pieces of thread to support it. The bottom of the belt was not sewn or tacked on at all....it was just flapping in the breeze. One of the stones had been knocked out. The worst part is that the belt was tacked on at a slanting angle so the right side is about a half inch higher than the left. This should have been very easy to line up given that the dress has horizontal ruching and all one would have to do is line up the belt with the ruching. It was obvious that no care had been taken in doing this and I could have done a better job in about 10 minutes myself. So, 5 weeks later and 24 days until my wedding, I am back to square one with this belt. I took it to another place that a friend recommended and they are going to have to take the belt off and resew it. They have assured me it can and will be completely sewn on. Furthermore, the seamstress at Shores told me the belt itself could not be cut to stop at the side seams (as I originally wanted) because the beads would fall off, even though each bead is individually sewn on the mesh framing of the belt. The new seamstress has told me it in fact CAN be done as I wanted all along. I researched a few companies before I chose Shores for their good reputation, and am now sorry I did. At least the stains were removed, but I cant say anything positive about the rest of the experience.

My daughter has always wanted to wear the wedding dress that I wore and that my mother wore. It was made by my grandmother as well and a real heirloom to us. When the time came for her to wear it we pulled it out of the box only to find some huge brown stains all over it. I thought the dress was ruined! We took it to Shores and Brian looked at it. He said he would be able to get it clean with their special restoration process. I was a little concerned because the dress is 55 years old but they did an amazing job. The stains were gone and the dress was whiter than when I wore it! Brian and his staff could not have been more pleasant to work with. From cleaning to altering and now preserving for the next generation, I highly recommend Shores Dry Cleaners! You will be very happy!
