I came to Columbus on business for a month only to have the video card on my laptop fail after 1 week. I had read on the Internet about the problems with the Nvidia chips on my series of laptops and called another company first whose name indicated they specialized in laptops. After having a very unsatisfactory call with the other company, I called DOS Boot. These guys knew exactly what I was talking about within 10 seconds of the call and said they could fix it no problem. Since I couldnt be without my laptop for the 3-4 days for the new motherboard to come in I asked if they knew how to fix the chip problem itself. I had seen a video of a fix where they reflowed the solder on the board. The main tech said he had done them but didnt recommend it. He didnt feel that it was the most lasting fix you could do. When I explained that I needed the laptop working mainly just until I left and couldnt be without it for the 4 days he agreed to do it, telling me there was no guarantee the fix would work at all. Well, I received the call the next day the laptop was working beautifully and still is. He ran it under hardware tests overnight and the fix held just fine, and is still working fine today. If I lived here I would be their loyal customer. Since im just visiting I can at least do this for them to help others to know where to go.

My PC laptop died and when I turned the power ON, the machine would NOT engage the hard-drive or bring up Windows. I brought it to Dos-Boot and explained the situation to Jeff. Right away, he figured out what the problem was and explained in detail the procedure that he would probably need to do to fix the problem. He was very transparent in saying that this procedure could fix the problem or it could blow up again within a few minutes. If he was not able to fix the issue, I would still have to pay the $110 fee but he would then back-up all of my data until I can get a new machine. Fortunately, he got the machine fixed and called me within 24 hours and I was able to pick it up the next day. He also gave me on recommendations on which laptops have been the most reliable to purchase. There was also a 90 day guarantee so that if my laptop dies again within that time frame, his offer to back up my data is still good. It hurt to have to let go of $110, but with the accurate diagnosis, fix, and fast turnaround, and being able to get my data back, it was worth it.

I took two old desktop computers that had crashed and a Sony VAIO laptop that was running slow to Dos Boot. Their service was quick and relatively inexpensive. They replaced the motherboard on my first desktop; now it runs great. They let me know that to fix my second desktop was really not worth it. The hard drive on my Sony was failing. They found a factory certified refurbished drive; now it runs great too. In all, I spent about $250 parts and labor which I felt was worth it for 3 PCs. They did a great job of communicating throughout the process and to advise me of my options. - I dont do many reviews, but took the time to do this one as I have had many bad experiences with throwing money at computers. These guys were fair, fast and competent.

I took my laptop to them a couple of months ago, explaining that I needed a new charger. They tested it and suggested it was actually the laptop jack itself. So I gave it to them to repair with a service charge of just over $110. A day later they called me to explain that they were mistaken and it was in fact just the charger that needed replacing. They refunded me about $30 of the service charge but then charged me $45 for a new laptop. Total cost for a new charger $120 approx. Approx cost for a new charger on Amazon - around $20-$30. Oh, and the new charger broke within 2 months so I had to buy a new top for another $8.

I tried EVERYTHING to extract data from my failing hard drive and could not recover anything at all... I really had zero hope that it was even going to be possible to get back an entire months worth of work. The dudes at Dos Boot worked their magic and only charged me $65 bucks to get my irreplaceable portfolio back! I will make sure to recommend them to everyone I know for computer issues, they are easy to work with and respond quickly... much MUCH MUCH better, faster, cheaper than dealing with the overzealous and over-smiley dweebs over at the Apple Store "genius" bar.

I took my laptop here because it wouldnt charge anymore. At first, he thought it was the power jack, but he called me back to tell me that it was actually just the power adapter. He ordered me a new power adapter (which came extremely fast), then gave me a refund for the service he didnt need to do on my laptop. Ive been here before to get extra RAM sticks for my computer. Not the best prices ever, but I would still recommend this place to anyone with hardware problems - the guy who seems to run the place knows what hes doing and isnt trying to take advantage of anyone.

Absolutely wonderful service. Had to visit three times, and each time they were very friendly and straightforward. No hidden fees or ridiculous service charges, and they even went out of their way to look at my computer even though I was slightly out of warranty, something that would have never happened had I sent it in to HP. Anyone with a computer problem should support these guys; they do a fantastic job.

I really liked the main guy that always works there and answers the phone. Hes friendly and genuine. I didnt know anything about computers but i could tell i wasnt getting ripped off or anything. Its right on campus and they get the job done pretty quick with little hassle. Only problem i had is that they put a faulty part in at first so i had to return it and they just put a better part in free of charge.

I stopped by at Dos Boot to get my fan cleaned and to get some RAM added to my laptop. I was helped by Ryan who finished the job within 12 hours. He charged me with $60 for labor and $50 for the DDR3 RAM (4GB). He also provided a detailed list of the work that has been done. Dos Boot also offers a 90-day warranty which is great. I highly recommend this place.

I needed a new hard drive for my laptop because mine failed, and they had my computer back to me with the new hard drive the next day. And my data was all recovered! Phenomenal service, extremely accessible, and they seemed to genuinely take interest in my issue. I will be back to them if I need computer repair service again!

The laptop fan was broken. He fixed it but the new fan really noisy and I cannot take it to the library to use it. When he open the case, he broke the small part of case, which need to change the back case. What I really angry was he did not feel it his fault and tried to find excuses.
