I previously used this service in Sept 2014 and it was flawless. We hired packing help in Columbus and unpacking help at our destination. The price was affordable and I would have given a 5 star review. Therefore, I felt very confident using Upack again for a recent move from our last destination back to Columbus. Due to our circumstances, it was suggested that we use 2 cubes and put one in storage temporarily here in Columbus until we were ready to put those items in a storage facility. The other cube was to be delivered to our home. I made multiple phone calls confirming these details. The first phone call to the general Upack number confirmed our plan. However, when I confirmed our delivery information in Columbus, they were unaware of the plan for the 2 cubes. The information was relayed to them and was confirmed over the phone. However, they initially incorrectly brought both cubes to my home. Phone calls again were made and the situation corrected. The cube that was to be stored was taken back to the terminal. About 2 weeks later, I made the plan to have the last cube delivered to my storage unit. I asked for a live unload due to the circumstances of a gated property rendering pick up of the empty cube more complicated. I was initially told that I could not request it, even though it is an available service on their website. After discussion with the dispatcher, he reluctantly agreed to the request and he was given the address of the storage property. Delivery was to be today. Without a phone call prior to delivery, a third party showed up at my house with the cube which was supposed to be delivered for a live unload at the storage facility. A third party got involved because they did not have a fork lift. That is a problem because the cube would have to be tilted to be unload from this vehicle- unacceptable. After more phone calls to the Columbus terminal and the thrid partys office (towing company) we finally were able to get our cube unloaded. Due to the less then stellar packing from the movers, there were several damaged items, which was not the case last trip. I used to recommend Upack , but can no longer do so in good faith until and unless the extensive communciation issues are resolved at the Columbus terminal location.

Great way to get your stuff there cheaply and safely. But you need to understand what you are getting into using this method of shipping which will save you 50-70% over a regular moving company. This is a commercial trailer and your stuff is being treated like freight. > You need to remember that you household items are being moved in a commercial trailer that probably has a million miles on it. They leak and do not have air suspension. > Cover your household items with a tarp or plastic from one end to the other and down the sides. > Never put boxes or anything that could be damaged by water on the floor of the trailer. Scraps of plywood or 1x6 can usually be scrounged up for free if you look. > Make sure that all furniture is covered and protected from being scuffed or chafed while in transit. Harbor Freight sells cheap moving blankets and rope. > Secure everything! Tie everything down so that it does not move in transit. > Always put the heavy boxes below and do not stack more than 2 high. Great place for heavy boxes is the meat counter at your local supermarket as they are thick walled and free. Also does not hurt to put stuff in small boxes before you put it into the larger boxes as this doubles the protection. > The loading ramp is HEAVY. Get your buddies to help you set it up. With some careful planning this is a great way to move stuff. Great deal if you plan ahead and remember that your stuff is cargo in a commercial trailer and will be treated as such.

We did a long distance move from Ohio to the south Houston area. I researched several companies and ended up going with Upack because of other reviews, pricing, and friendliness of the customer service reps. The whole experience from pick up to drop off went absolutely perfectly. It was so easy to schedule drop-off and pickups. I will definitely use Upack again. My only complaint is that we used the trailer instead of the pods, which was great, but the divider was incredibly difficult to install. Thank goodness my husband is very strong and handy and was able to figure it out. If you use a trailer, you may need help putting the divider in. Lastly, a word of caution. I HIGHLY recommend hiring a professional moving company to load your items in the trailer/pod. Make half of your boxes medium to light in weight so they can stack to the top. If you want your stuff to arrive in good condition, it has to be packed well!! The Upack driver that dropped off our trailer in Texas asked us if we packed our own stuff. We told him no, that we had hired movers to load it. He said it was worth it because our stuff looked great - in perfect condition - barely shifted from how it was loaded. We shipped several Ikea items including dressers, desks, and box shelves. Nothing broke and we had maybe a handful of small scratches on our stuff. Amazing!!! Worth it!!

Rosanne in the Columbus, OH terminal was instrumental in getting this move completed. When we had problems with our Discover card, she stayed in touch with us as Discover worked thru the authorization process. She also monitored the delivery. I was scheduled to leave the country for work on Friday, so timing was everything. Roxanne went above and beyond to get our boxes delivered on Tuesday (after Memorial Day). I didnt expect the boxes to be delivered so promptly! This process has been extremely easy and very time efficient compared to doing it myself and then having to drive the truck myself. When I compared prices among the other providers, UPACK was extremely competitive, especially when I considered I didnt have to use a tow dolly to move my car. I drove at my leisure to my destination, in the comfort of my own car with cruise control, instead of a bouncy truck.

This is the second time Ive moved with U-Pack, and both have been great! The first time I used the large trailer where you just rent square footage; this was only because the delivery location could not receive the smaller relo-cube. There were some hiccups with that experience, but ABF/U-Pack was great with helping to fix everything and all of my things made it safe and sound to a tiny mountain town. (TIP: get a giant tarp to cover all of your belonging to limit the amount of dust & dirt you have to deal with.) The second experience, with the relo-cube, was so simple, and with the cost of gas, insurance, and time a lot more affordable than any other option I found. The dimensions may sound small, but if you use every inch you can really get a 1 bedroom apartment in a since cube, it is also really nice that the floor of the cube is right on the ground.

I was dealing with 2 long distance moves which belongings going two separate ways. U-Pack had options for both, one stop shop! Was able to utilize a cube for the smaller shipment and truck space for the larger one. Drop off and pick up were on schedule and everything arrived per dates given. Pricing was very competitive and good value. I was most impressed with Customer Service - everytime I called in, I was speaking with friendly, nice guys who were always so helpful and flexible. Shoutouts to Kendall and Blake! I did encounter a small issue post move and my agent kindly help resolve. Highly recommend U-Pack over anyone else for self-service moves, you will not regret.
