The original issue was for a backed up sewage pipe. The initial guy snaked the pipe ran into a hitch, called someone else to help him. Second guy snaked the pipe successfully, informed me that roots are coming into the pipe in the yard and there may be a break under the foundation. They ordered a cameraman to come the next day to put camera in. Cameraman found break in pipe under the foundation. So far, so good. Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable. Not very prompt, but whos counting. The cameraman was really good at his job. He then said the fix under foundation would cost $4200 or so. He told me they offer a 5-year guarantee on all their work and none of their competitors offer any better. Went to his truck, came back with work estimate. The estimate was $4500 or so.. Little pricey. So, I called a competitor for a second quote.. without any knowledge of the previous quote or warranty, the competitor gave me a price guarantee of $3200 and a lifetime warranty on all their work.. Both companies have the same ratings online and popularity. I felt a little ripped off and lied to. Thus, 3 stars. UPDATE: The second company (Mr. Rooter) replaced more than 6 of pipe as well as a drain for less than what Roto-Rooter costs for 2 of pipe. Again, everyone was courteous and professional. Their assessment of the sewer drain was accurate and they did fine work. Snaking the drain prevented further flooding in the basement for the time being. The camera work was "free" with the first work order. So the snake and camera assessment was $299. Unlike other reviews, I was not charged extra for the amount of time they were there. It was one flat rate as far as I can tell. UPDATE: Mr. Rooters (another company) snake service is $105. Roto-Rooter more and more feels like complete highway robbery. Dropping a star. The first crew did not clean up after themselves. They left the root they pulled out of the pipe on the floor along with latex gloves. The cameraman who came the next day picked up the gloves, left the root. UPDATE: Mr. Rooter carefully cleaned up after themselves. Left nothing besides a good job.

We began having backup issues in our single sink after installing a disposal. My wife called Roto-Rooter in Dayton and they had had a guy come out the same evening. I was at work, but it worked out that I got home just after "Anthony" showed up. We showed him what was going on with the disposal and also, a secondary problem with a leaking sink downstairs. He said he wanted to start with the sink. He continued to check out the problem and told me it was installed incorrectly and missing a piece (?). He said he had to run out and get one for us. About a half hour later, he called me and said the local Lowes didnt have the part but Trotwood did. He proceeded to let me know he was headed there to get the needed part. Once he came back, it was a little while and the sink was leak free. He then moved up to the disposal. I will make a long story short. He proceeded to snake the drain a total of 4 times with two different sizes of cable. After spending a total of 4 hours at our home attempting to get the disposal working properly, he was out of ideas. He set up an appointment for the next day for a clog specialist to come out and he was able to take care of it. "Anthony" spent 4 hours trying to help us out. He was at our home until 9:30pm! After it was all said and done, he charged what he said he was going to and set up the appointment for the next day. In my opinion, he went above and beyond to try to get our drain unclogged. This Roto-Rooter experience was the best (albeit the longest) Ive had with a plumber. Thank you, Thank you.

Im in a rural area outside of Dayton, and needed a plumber quick as guests were coming. I am glad that Roto Rooter could send a service person immediately. He got caught up in a job and called to let me know hed be later than promised. I appreciated that they kept calling to give me updates about their arrival time. I had to leave my home but my son were there to supervise the visit. On my return my son hadnt been able to reach me to authorize the cost of deep snaking the drain. I told him the amount was okay, and that he should call to see if the repairman could come back. Roto-Rooter was able to send someone back right away and I appreciated them a lot for that. My daughter-in-law told me that the first repairman had done a good job of telling them what was wrong and what hed need to do to complete the job. The second repairman didnt meet that kind of professional or customer service expectation in my interactions with him. He gave one word answers to my questions, never offered an explanation of what hed done, and with his body positions seemed to expect that we would read his mind about what was needed for him to complete the job. It was as though he felt comfortable being barely respectful or professional. The job is done. Ive got a six month guarantee on the work. I liked the interaction I had with the administrator on the phone, and with the first repairman. The one that I met personally did a great deal of damage to my positive review of this Roto-Rooter dealer.

Well my mother-in-law recommended Roto-Rooter to me, she had them do work at her house and told me it was only $89. After not being able to get the drain cleared myself, I figured I would do that cause I needed it done right away and that wasnt to bad of a price. I have three kids one of which is two weeks old, and we really needed it cleared to do laundry and also dishes. My technician was great and was able to get it unclogged in about 20 minutes or less, so I figured I would be in pretty good shape. Boy was I wrong $279 was my total! I couldnt believe it, I had never paid anywhere close to that amount for 20 minutes of work! While he was able to get my drain cleared it was not worth the price at all! I had work done on that same problem two or three times and never paid over $100, 3 times as much! I even had a coupon I thought I was going to be able to use which would have been $93 but it was for Mr. Rooter and not Roto-Rooter. I asked how they charged 3 times as much, didnt get a real good answer just that that was the price. I know who I will not be calling in the future, and I would not recommend them to anyone else. Call around a whole lot better prices out there for the same service! Still in shock and disbelief with the amount they charge!

I was advised by several people to not go with a "name brand" plumber for fear I would be overcharged. I had a back up in my main line and it needed to be snaked. I got some quotes from three different top privately owned companies, and was told that I did not have an outside drain and that they would have to go through the roof or excavate and install one. Due to rescheduling issues, among other things, I got frustrated and called Roto-Rooter just to see what they had to say. I was surprised to learn that they, unlike all the other companies, did NOT charge a service call fee. Ron came to my home (right on time) and provided a written estimate before any work was started. Free of charge. The first thing Ron told me was....... you have an outside drain. I just have to find it. And he did. Within an hour. Then, an hour later, my drain was unclogged. His knowledge and expertise showed me what experience is all about. I was very impressed....... and relieved. It was looking like I was going to have to spend upwards to 2k to fix my issue with excavation and installation of an outside drain, and Ron did it for 369 with the existing drain that no one else put the effort into finding. Go with the pros. You cant loose. Thanks Ron!!!!
