Charles Penzone is the absolute worst. My sisters wedding was on 8/15/15 and my wedding is coming up on 9/26/15. I came into the Polaris salon on 8/1/15 for a trim prior to my sisters wedding, and unfortunately because my stylist left, they placed me with Monique. This girl *ruined* my hair. She cut off 6" and completely changed the shape of my cut. I called the manager (Brigid?) and she was very nice and sympathetic and booked me with Bella to fix it. Bella was able to blend the awful, choppy, uneven haircut, but I was still forced to change my wedding hair due to the much shorter length. Now this experience made me a bit nervous because I had already booked my sisters bridal party at the Gahanna salon for 8/15, but I decided not to let my experience with Monique get me down, and gave them the benefit of the doubt. What a mistake! They did the absolute worst job Ive ever seen on 3 out of 5 members of our bridal party. When we left the salon the entire bridal party was visibly upset and the bride was in tears, yet their guest service reps literally just stared at us as we tried to figure out what to do and finally just walked out. I sent them an email and was contacted by their hair manager (Beth?) who really couldnt have cared less. I offered to show her pictures of the hair so she could see for herself, but she had such an attitude and just did not care at all. She didnt even apologize for the fact that our hair looked horrendous or that they overcharged the mother of the bride. She offered us free services as compensation, including free styling for my wedding on 9/26 and I said absolutely not! They completely destroyed my haircut 7 weeks before my wedding, we couldnt trust them with doing our bridesmaids hair, why in the world would I want any other services from them? Especially for my wedding?? I am obviously never ever going there or recommending Charles Penzone to anyone ever again. I am completely heartbroken over what theyve done.

I have gone to Penzones for at least three years and have been very happy with my hairdresser. The cost when I first started going to her was $44 for cut and design. A few months ago when I went to check out, I was informed that my hairdresser became a director and the cost was now $50. I was upset that I didnt know that information before I had my haircut. Same girl, same haircut, but now it was going to cost me $6 more per visit. Then, last month I went back again. Upon checking out, the price was now $55! (Plus tip.) I was informed by the girl at the register that they had JUST raised ALL of their prices. Over $60 is outrageous for a haircut, especially for a loyal, returning customer. Sadly, I will have to find a different place now to get my hair cut. This has become unaffordable. My suggestion would be, reward your loyal customers by NOT raising their prices. You can set the higher prices for new customers. At least, let your loyal customers know about price increases BEFORE the service is performed, not when they are checking out and surprised by it. Also, where is all of this money going? Your parking lot is full of potholes. Bad, bad customer service. I like my hairdresser, but I am forced to move on. That makes me sad.

Terrible business practice! No refunds or transfers for gift cards? I heard their commercials for Valentines Day and got it confused with Kenneths Salon. I bought a $100 gift card from Penzones because a $100 purchase came with a $20 gift card to Cameron Mitchells. I used the electronic delivery method so I could print it off at home, but my printer was low on ink so I went to Kenneths to get a real gift card thinking it was the right place. The receptionist realized my mistake and said I should be able to get my money refunded because they would refund my money if the situation were reversed. I felt like an idiot buying a gift card to the wrong place, but the people at Kenneths were very polite and sympathetic to my stupid mistake. I went home to call Penzones to get my money refunded and they said they couldnt do anything because gift cards are non-refundable. My mother and my sister live close to a Penzones so I asked if I could give it to them and I was told the gift cards are non-transferable as well! What kind of business practice is that? Terrible! To top everything off I didnt even get my $20 gift card to Cameron Mitchells. Terrible business practice and customer service, lesson learned, I will never buy anything from them again!

I usually get on Google to give positive reviews for outstanding service. Charles Penzone is the exception. I have been to Charles Penzone twice; one with a gift certificate, one on my own. I was thoroughly disappointed the first time with the gift certificate (except for the eye brow waxing which was great - the only reason I am giving this 2 stars). The hair cut was uneven, bulky at the ends and the product recommendation and use was a terrible choice for my hair leaving it greasy and heavy right after. Then I moved to the Gahanna area, from a hairdresser that I adored in the Kent area, and decided to give them -- this time a higher ranking professional -- a second try. Even more disappointed. Not only was the price RIDICULOUS but the hair cut was honestly horrible. Thick, bulky, not at all what I asked for, not at all what I expected. I cannot believe anyone would pay for this not personal, way too big, overpriced place... Would not recommend...to anyone...for anything aside from a brow wax.

Above and beyond the services is the people who comprise the Charles Penzone Family of Salons. A contributory factor to my ability to reclaim my life after overcoming abuse and ensuing life challenges has been the TLC Ive received from each of the service professionals. Whenever I could afford it I came in for a massage or hair maintenance. In addition to the service I received, most often I came away with a kind word of encouragement. The extra "You can make it" or "Go girl" each professional offered, from Tabitha, Skye, Jaden and a host of others at the Grand Salon in Dublin, and Adrian at the Grand Salon at Polaris, the professionalism and humanity has made a world of difference. I feel more and more like a whole person each day. My sincere thanks and gratitude to Charles and Deborah Penzone for infusing their loving and nurturing spirits into the people who help transform their customers and transform lives. May God continue to bless you all. - Toni Teague

DO NOT GO HERE! I went there to go completely blonde and they told me it takes 3 "bleachings" (or what they call weavings) to go blonde which is INCORRECT but I didnt know any better. They are milking your money $$$. The guy (Breydon) gave me a head full of horrible highlights that were supposed to be golden blonde but he did a horrible job and my hair was WHITE! After crying my eyes out at the salon they tried to fix it, making my hair look green. I am so upset with the UNACCEPTABLE service. Then the manager Shayla at the Polaris salon and 2 other employees tried bullshitting me any story they could to say they did it right and its my fault and then tried to make me pay for the service instead of properly fixing it. Not only do the high lights look horrible and are a horrible color, but so many roots are showing it looks like Ive needed them redone for months. Im stuck wearking a hat on my head until I can get this disaster fixed.
