Rescue Rooter / Jack Howk of Portland provided excellent service from the beginning. I arrived at my home in Gresham after work at about 5:30 pm to find with my horror struck eyes a pool of water forming in my neighbors yard, adjacent to our meters and determined that our supply was leaking. I called Rescue Rooter and they had Landon Peldo who was working on another job site in Clackamas respond. To my utter shock Landon arrived at about 6:45 pm that same evening, listening to me drone on about my plumbing issues and began looking over my water system connections. Landon carefully explained what he found and provided an estimate of the work that would be needed. It was 7:30pm and already becoming evening, there wasnt much light left. I agreed to the services he recommended to my surprise, Landon went right to work. Landon stayed until about 9:30pm, working by the light of a head lamp to dig out my water meter, and connect a hose line bypass to the spigot at the back of my house and test that the new supply wasnt going to leak. We had scheduled the work to begin the following week. It was quite a relief to my wife and 6 children ( ages 2 - 17) that there would be water as usual the next day and not some warped plan of rationing that their Dad would have improvised by turning off and on the existing leaking service. The work to replace the existing line began the following week as scheduled after Landons review of the landscape of flags and alien glyphs left by locate. While I was at work a piece of the sidewalk was taken up by Landon and Gill (Directional Drill Master) near my water main. Gill then threaded his directional drill down the side of my property underneath the concrete slab running its length between the buried power line , fiber optic network, and cable lines to reach a position near the foundation wall of my house. Another piece of concrete was then taken up and a 2 x 3 hole 3 feet deep was excavated by hand above the power line running to PGEs meter to complete the final leg of the run my new water line would take to the house shutoff. When I arrived home that day Landon was piecing together the parts that would connect my shutoff to the continuous length of flexible pipe that had been run from the meter under the concrete slab thru the foundation wall , under the concrete garage floor and into the house. By 11:30pm Landon had completed the connection to the main and final leg connection work. Landon was also able to complete the connection to the additional spigot I had requested a couple days earlier (No more buckets or winding that darn hose thru the patio furniture at the back of the house. Yesss!!!! ). Thank you Landon and Gill for all of your hard work and most importantly thank you Landons Wife and Children for sacrificing your time with Landon for my family we greatly appreciate it.

While on a work assignment on the east coast, we found out via a call from the water company, that we had a water leak at our house in Hillsboro. It was a Friday night and I called the plumber that was recommended by the water company. When they could not come out until the following week, I got on line and found Rescue Rooter / Lack Howk who stated they had emergency service. Larry Peters was the plumber that showed up at the house within an hour of my call. My neighbor was able to meet him and let him into the house. Larry inspected all the plumbing in the house and could not find anything. From there he went into the crawl space and could not find anything there so he traced the leak to the exterior line from the meter to the house. Staying in touch with me constantly, he was able to get me a bid and contract documents that night. He lined up his machine operator Gil to be in Monday morning, emergency locates for Monday morning and told me he would have it completed by end of day Monday. This was the 22nd of December.... Christmas week. Not only did he get it done on time but was able to get it inspected and signed off by Tuesday. Larry told me, at the time of the quote, that he would do everything he could to minimized the cost and the damage to the landscaping and irrigation system. Once complete, he was able to do just that. He did not have to do a portion of the work that was in the bid and he credited me that cost back, just as he said he would. He did a great job putting the landscaping back to as close to normal as possible and he ensured the irrigation system was left as it was found. He attention to detail and constant communication with me was beyond anything I could have expected. From a homeowner trying to handle this emergency from 3,500 miles away, on a Friday going into Christmas week, all I can say is THANK YOU Larry and Gil. Not only would I recommend them to anyone, but they will my first call for any plumbing issue I have in the future. Do yourself a favor, dont look anywhere else when you have a plumbing concern. Call Jack Howk / Rescue Rooter and ask for Larry. Youll be glad you did.

ZERO STARS!! To say my overall experience with Rescue Rooter was ***negative*** would be an understatement. Rescue Rooter stole my time, my income as well as trust in their name. Because of my experience I feel impressed to WARN others to consider other options when in need of service. I had a plumbing issue I requested service on a Sunday evening. I was advised that a service person would be at my house the following day (Monday) between 12-4pm. I adjusted my employment responsibilities and took time off work, not because my work schedule is flexible but because the plumbing needed to be fixed. A Rescue Rooter technician did not show up on Monday. I was called by a representative of Rescue Rooter and told that I was in the schedule for the following day (Tuesday). Again, nobody showed up. I was called yet again and informed that the next day a Rescue Rooter service person would be there “after the morning meeting”. On this day (Wednesday) I took the whole day off work to be available for the promised service call, “after the morning meeting”. I kept waiting - ALL morning, and then ALL afternoon, until 6pm that evening. My frustration was building to an all time high after losing income for going on the third day. Wednesday the promised Rescue Rooter technician was a no show. Again. Thursday morning, for the FIFTH time I was told I would have service by 4pm. By 4:15 I realized that I had been duped. Sick of the lies behind the chipper-voiced phone calls, I called another company who came within hours and completed the work. I am out at least 25 hours worth of work and my family relies on every hour of my income. Shame on them! I question this companys ethics. Why dont they tell customers the TRUTH –they have too many jobs for how many technicians on staff. Weeks later I received a letter filled with mumb-jumbo verbiage and a coupon for $50 off FUTURE WORK (a coupon already available on their website). What? Why would I *ever* consider using Rescue Rooter in the future? As an individual, would YOU use a company who treated you this way? Would never consider Rescue Rooter for service. Ever.
