Pete plumbing and heating came out to do a routine furnace check -older home -just purchased and wanted to be sure everything was in order before the furnace was needed. They inspected the furnace and said it had cracks-was dangerous to use and needed to be shut down immediately. They also gave a quote to install a new furnace. Im writing this on behalf of my son and daughter-in-law who delivered a baby a day after this inspection-they had their hands full. They did not shut the furnace down but insisted our expecting daughter-in-law sign a document. We immediately install monitors while they were at the hospital. Heres the interesting part-we called another company-they came out and said the furnace was fairly new-absolutely no problems -everything checked out ok. I called Petes to let them know that what they attempted to do was unacceptable -this scare technique towards an expecting Mom was shameful. The owner would not listen to our concerns that possibly an error was made and insisted they were right. So guess what -we had yet another company come out and they said there was not a problem with the furnace /heating system was in perfect order. Please be very careful when using this company -the poor business ethics of this company and stress they caused are just not worth it. The owner responded below -they would come out with PG&E to confirm their diagnosis -the second evaluation we had done was with PG&E and they did confirm there were no problems with the furnace and heating system.

I have used Peter Levi extensively in the past 18 months. I have used them to replace my water heater and furnace, install air conditioning and deal with tank, pump and sewage issues in my downstairs, below ground bathroom. Generally I was pleased with their work and their responsiveness, although recently I had to hire another plumber to modify their work on the downstairs bathroom as it was not installed properly from the start and they failed to address the problem time and time again. They lost my loyalty when I called them three times over one weekend because of sewage and alarm issues......and NEVER received a call back, nor did I receive an apology. What good is a plumber with an emergency number if no one answers or returns calls. I want to be able to give them five stars but their customer service along with issues related to our sewage tank leave me no option but to downgrade my endorsement. Rather than "make me smile" they left me frustrated and with no other choice than to turn elsewhere. Also, early on I asked then for an estimate on helping me remodel a storage room into a laundry room with water, sink, etc. They quoted about $40k. I ended up getting it done for far less than $15k and am extremely happy. I suspect I paid a premium overall for the services I have received but do not feel I have gotten premium service. That said, some of the technicians were wonderful.

I made an appt. w. Peter Levi Plumbing 2 weeks ago to do a couple of clean outs at my rental in Kentfield scheduled for Friday Oct. 21 9a.m. to noon. This was a 2 hours drive as I had to come from south peninsula in commute traffic. I was told that the technician would call me 20 min. before arrival. I waited from 9a.m. to noon and was assured and reassured each time I called to check that the tech would arrive before noon. 10 mins. to noon, I received a call from Jessica from the office that the tech, Troy, was still in SF and would arrive at 4p.m. I was quite stunned as I wasted the whole morning waiting on the street for Troy. I was told that only Troy can perform this clean out. Made another appointment for Troy to come the next day Saturday Oct. 22, 9-12noon. I again drove from the peninsula. Troy did come at 10a.m. Saturday only to find out that I was never scheduled on his Friday appointments. Saturday was the first he heard of me. So someone in the office made a terrible mistake and did not schedule me with the technician at all. Jessica gave me a $50 credit for this mistake. I found out that the credit was taken out of Troys take for Saturday. Troy was punished for a mistake that was not his fault. My time and gas was wasted for hours that I travelled and waited for nothing. From a very very unhappy customer.

Needed a simple furnace repair. When the repair person came out, he said, "Oh, Im from the Hot Water (Heater) Division; you need a Furnace Division person. An hour or so later Peter Levi "Jr.," arrived with another employee. Jr. was very interested in trying (operative word) to sell a new furnace in lieu of just the needed fix. I also asked about cleaning the pilot light orifice. Jr. looked at me with that same look that deer (do) have when they are in the road and the headlights are shining in their eyes. Scary. Though I had to wait another day or so, a very longstanding, locally owned family company installed the worn out part for half the cost that Levi Plumbing quoted. Now you know how Levi Plumbingh has such nice and fancy vans, plus a front office that doesnt know a pipe wrench from a coffee pot. VERY impressive. Dont waste your money and time with Peter Levi Plumbing. Get quotes, work with a company that knows how to send the right person the first time. Hey, Jr., keep learning the business, including how to sell a furnace to the owner. And now we know why they call it (pipe) dope.

After meeting a few plumbers (one didnt even bother to show up!) to obtain estimates, I decided to go with Peter Levi Plumbing to replace a broken toilet. Upon calling Peter Levi Plumbing on a Sunday to explain my issue, the representative that answered was very nice and empathetic to my situation. After the house call, they then sent me six different quotes so I could choose the best option for the replacement toilet and the best option that would suit our needs. Ian arrived on the earlier side of the two hour window I was given. He was very courteous, wore booties inside and was mindful of my two sleeping toddlers! He kept me in the loop by explaining challenges he faced during the job and was rather patient with me and my requests. He even spent a lot of time cleaning up the old caulking from the base of the previous toilet. After he left the bathroom, I could not even tell a repair took place. I give Ian five stars alone on his commendable job! Overall, Ian was very professional and great to work with. I would highly recommend Ian from Peter Levi Plumbing!

Peter Levi Jr came out to advise on the installation of a "smart" thermostat to replace the impossible-to-program one we inherited when we purchased our house. Peter recommended a Honeywell thermostat that I had seen favorably reviewed in Consumer Reports. I can run it remotely from an app on my phone as well as program it on the touch screen. So far, the thermostat works as advertised and were very happy with the end result. The hole in the wall left by the previous thermostat was a very irregular shape and I was afraid the new one wouldnt cover it necessitating some repairs. With some effort, Peter was able to position the new thermostat to cover the hole so all I need to do is touch up the paint as the footprint of the new thermostat is a bit smaller than the old one. Peter was very efficient and a pleasure to have in our house. I can highly recommend Peter Levi Plumbing for HVAC needs.
