Edit: Ive increased from 3 to 4 stars because of the follow-up customer service. I appreciated receiving a call from Roto Rooter the very next day addressing my concerns and showing their care for me as a valued customer. They listened to my thoughts, and adjusted the price from the pipe jetting cost to the pipe snaking cost, which is what worked to get my drain clear. Because of this, I would definitely use them again - I trust them to do a good job and own their mistakes if they make them. Thats possibly the most valuable aspect of a business. Original Review: I had Roto Rooter come out and clear a French drain. My experience with the technician was very good, but the overall experience was tainted by a long arrival window and absurdly expensive price. First of all, they gave me a very long arrival window. They told me they would arrive sometime between 9 am and 1 pm, and the technician got here right around 1 pm. Plus, they called to say I was next in line, but then it was another hour before they arrived. That is very long and inconvenient. I understand that different plumbing problems take varying amounts of time, but if the dispatchers know theyre not coming to my house first, it would be nice to know. Second, it was extremely expensive. $575 plus tax for up to 1 hour of jetting the pipe, and they wouldnt tell me that over the phone, but apparently its a flat fee. The jet didnt work on my drain so the technician used a drain snake on my cast iron pipe to try again. It was slow going but he stuck with it until the pipe drained. He told me there were probably roots in the pipe. I appreciated his resolve to fix the issue, especially since he was out there in the pouring rain. Finally, the lady who initially took my call for service informed me that they could do a minor re-route of my natural gas line around a conflicting sewer line, but that is apparently false according to the technician. So again, great service by the technician once he was here, but overall, just a mediocre experience with the company. Im also hoping that by writing this review I have an outside chance of winning the $500 sweepstakes for the service.

We had a pretty urgent situation when our basement toilet started backing up into our basement shower/tub. It was late and I didnt want to deal with someone coming out in the middle of the night, we had tried to snake the drain ourselves but the snake was too short. I set up a request with RotoRooter online and without realizing it I was making an appointment for them to come out, not just call with info. I got a message saying they would arrive between 8-12 the next day. That was slightly inconvenient because I needed to be somewhere at 11:15. When I called and talked to dispatch first thing in the morning they were able to give me a better estimate of arrival and when I mentioned that I didnt mean to make the appointment that I thought I was requesting a call back, they were able to rearrange the schedule and get a plumber out sooner so I could still make my appointment on time. Giovanni was the plumber that arrived and snaked my entire sewer drain for me. He originally offered to also give me a video scope of the line for a discounted price with any compromises marked in the yard. I said I just wanted it snaked for now and would do the video later. When he completed the snake he offered to give me the scope for free, without any guarantee and without any markings in the yard. I was ok with that and accepted the offer. It was good to see the state of my sewer line, and what appears to be original pipes to my 1926 house. The only negative thing I have is he got a little short with me when I failed to mention the backup valve that the city had installed. I didnt realize it was such a big deal as this was the first time I had ever called a plumber. He informed me that we are in dire need of new pipes, and maybe used a couple of scare tactics to try and book a $15,000 service. I understand our sewer line is old and needs replacing but telling me not to use toilet paper or my pipes might burst in a couple of days is a bit much.

I had a bathroom sink with standing water and a bathtub in the same bathroom that drained slowly. Earlier that day I had a handyman snake all three drains with not luck. So, I called Roto-Rooter at 11:38 AM Wednesday, May 24th, 2017, Kenny Kim from Tukwila, WA came out and arrived about an hour later at 12:30 PM. He assessed the situation and gave me an estimate of $509.00 plus tax. He originally stated that this job should only take him an hour. After he tried snaking the bathroom sink twice he inquired about the pipes, show I showed him the door to the crawl space and he went under my house to further assess the situation. After his first two attempts of snaking the standing water bathroom sink failed, Kenny continued to persist to fix my issue. What Kenny didn’t know but started to suspect is that the drain from the standing water bathroom sink split off into two directions and his snake wasn’t going down the correct drain pipe and thus not reaching the clog. Kenny continued to persist and eventually hit pay dirt as he felt the clog and was successfully able to remove it so my downstairs bathroom sink could drain properly. After he put my sink completely together and in perfect working order he successfully snaked the downstairs bathtub in his first attempt and removed its clog so that it drained correctly. My total bill was $561.43 and it took Kenny around 2 hours of time to successfully fix all my plumbing issues. It was well worth it. THANKS KENNY KIM AND THANKS ROTO-ROOTER!

A stain on a downstairs bedroom carpet led me to wonder if the drain-line running along the outer wall might be letting moisture seep under the concrete floor slab, which did have a crack in it. Roto Rooter tech Steve Kelly arrived and videoed the line, marking a possible defect area. He suggested digging down to determine condition of the drain, which I had done several days later. The line was fine and running water through it from the downspout access resulted in NO water leakage. I really appreciated Steves expertise finding and marking this area. He was professional and efficient yet friendly and informative. Also Roto Rooters charge was $500 LESS than another quote I had received for the same type of video evaluation, and I received same-day service rather than wait another 3 weeks. Water restoration tech Shannon Palmer arrived and determined there was NO moisture in any interior surface of the bedroom. There was no charge for her visit. I now have peace of mind and will be replacing carpet and pad after concrete floor crack is sealed. I strongly recommend Roto Rooter for serving any plumbing needs. Pricing is very fair and response time is outstanding. A great company in our community.

I had a simple little leak at the fitting that joined the soft copper supply line to the rigid copper tubing in the crawl space, so I called in Roto Rooter. The plumber came and noticed there was a minor crimp in the soft copper supply line close to where it entered the building (its been that way since the house was built 13 years ago). He refused to fix the leaking fitting unless he could replace the soft copper supply line, which meant excavating the line outside of the building (where nothing was leaking). This turned a $300 problem into a $1500 problem. This was a rental house, though, and I needed to get the problem solved to keep the tenant happy so I let him go ahead and do it. I pled with him to not do this since I used to have a lake in the crawl space due to water coming in at the point of entry for the water line since it was lower than the footing drain. I had that sealed with concrete (which wasnt easy). So now, the seal has been broken, the soil disturbed, and I will once again have a lake in my crawl space, all because Roto Rooter refused to leave well enough alone and fix the problem I called them to fix. I wont be calling on Roto Rooter again.
