First I want to say that Duerksen did fix anything at our house faster then I could imagine. Next on to the deposit. My girlfriend and I lived at one of their rentals for two years. The house was falling off its foundation and was 500 square feet. When we moved out they made us move out finals week the day after graduation with no consideration that we are extremely busy. We moved everything out the week before finals in order to have enough time to clean every inch of the house. For 3 days 13 hours each day we cleaned the house top to bottom replacing everything they could possibly charge us for besides painting walls because it was against their policy. We expected to get just about everything in our deposit back. They waited until the last legal day to put the check in the mail. When we got our check we were shocked. On the first invoice from a cleaning company we were charged 240 in order to clean " cobwebs, light switch, outlet covers, base boards, and door trim". On the invoice they went to on to say that " windows, tracks, and sills were cleaned throughout the home, kitchen was cleaned top to bottom including refrigerator and stove, surfaces underneath stove and refrigerator was cleaned as well as walls. bathroom was cleaned from top to bottom all fixtures were cleaned and polished as well as door knobs sink toilet and base boards, entry way and outside were also cleaned". So this means we were charged $240 to clean cobwebs and light switches. They charged us for 3 hours of cleaning. I just want to remind you that our house is the size of a shoe box and they complemented us on just about ever inch of the house so why the hell would we not clean cobwebs. We actually went to the extent of removing each vent to vacuum them out. Next onto a screen. They charged us $18 to repair a screen and $45 in labor to go to the store and buy the screen. We never took out any screen at our house besides when we removed them to clean the outside windows before we moved out. Next onto the blinds. They hired a company to come in with the only purpose was to clean the blinds. During our move out we actually went and purchased a blind cleaning tool and did each one witch took almost one person all day to do. Next the hired someone to come in and paint the walls. This house was so crappy that the trim was covered in white paint, parts of the floor were covered in white paint and just about anything else they could paint they did. Remember the previously charged us to clean the base boards that were actually re painted before the cleaning crew came in. they charged us $150 in labor to repaint the inside as well as $35 a gallon of paint for a total of $220 Next onto the floors. Our house was all fake tile and hardwood floors in the living room. The floors were so bad when we moved in we had to purchase area rugs to lay down because if you walked through the house with no shoes on you would get splinters in your feet. They charged us a total of $140 to clean our floors including $25 to clean carpet. this piece of carpet was in one closet which was probably 20 inches by 6 inches. Moral of the story is that even if you have 3 people working all day on the house to clean it top to bottom they will find a way to charge you and take all of your deposit. they will hold your deposit until the last day. These people are criminals and should not be able to operate this way. My last two houses I have rented I received 100% of my deposit back! At this house it was only me and my girlfriend of 6 years. We both worked and went to school. We never had a single party. OUR NEW LANDLORD STATED DUERKSEN GAVE US A BEYOND AMAZING RECOMMENDATION. Yet they take are whole deposit.

My family has only moved in for a few weeks now, but we are very happy with the service we have received so far. They have been friendly, efficient, accommodating, and quick to resolve a problem within the apartment. The service personnel; Jared, was fast, friendly and repaired the broken closet door well. He even did a quick check of the apartment to see if any other items needed attending. We expect that our time here will be good and that when it is time to leave, check out will be just as pleasant. 01/07/16 Update: we have just moved from our apartment because we found a new home to purchase. Duerksen has been extremely accomodating in helping our move from the apartment to go smoothly. In fact, they scheduled us with a walk-thru with the cleaning agency they contract with to show us the areas of the apartment that still needed some attention. I appreciated being able to go back in and clean so that we can receive our full deposit. I think it is very fair to ask for the apartment to be in pristine condition as this is what I would want moving in. They are upfront, give a very detailed list of what needs to be completed and even options on how leaving the apartment might be done. I am glad to recommend Duerksen and would not hesitate to rent with them again or recommend them to a friend.

Do not rent from them. I had rented a house from them and was there for over 6 years. During those 6 years I was never ever late on rent, but when they decided they wanted more money in rent than what they could legally raise my rent to, they found a reason to kick me and my kids out on the street, with not a care at all about doing so. And they did it illegally I might add, by not giving me the 60 day notice that I should have gotten. Then after you do move out and are trying to find another place to live, they will trash your name to future landlords making you out to be the worst tenant theyve ever had to deal with (yet rented to you for over 6 years), making it impossible to find a new home. All these people care about is money, money, money. Makes me sick that they are so selfish. Karma will come around to all these people one day, and when it does.... sucks to be you. Oh and if you need something fixed, dont bother to let them know, cuz they never once did any maintenance on the place other than replace the fire alarms and just this last year they put in a fire extinguisher, and they half ass cleaned the roof and gutters each year. After reading all the reviews, I highly doubt Ill get a deposit back either, even though I left it way better off than when I moved into it.

Worst service ever. There have been multiple times where Ive called to have something fixed and they dont send anyone out to my apartment. After calling them multiple times over a span of two weeks I finally got someone who instead of apologizing was like, "oh Ill look into it." They are terrible at sending people out. They also do a terrible job on the repairs, which has resulted in me having to call them right back because it broke right after they left and the whole process started over again. Instead of apologizing again they made it sound like it was my fault. The apartment itself is nice and I like living in it. I just wish the people I had to work with were there to do their job and make things happen. Theyre always rude over the phone and seem annoyed. This seems to be a common theme in all of the reviews. Im not discouraging anyone from living in their apartments because I honestly do like the apartment. Its nice, clean, new, good layout, etc., but you just need to know what kind of business youll be dealing with. Management seriously needs to do something about how terrible their employees are.
