Quality gym, Ive been there about 6 months now and have enjoyed it. I found a 2 week free trial online and went in to check it out. Theyre salesmen, so theyll hit you with the "we have a great deal for you if you sign up TODAY!" I didnt buy it, as I was assuming the great deal would still be there in 2 weeks and I need some time to get a feel for the place. I got a good rate for 2 years paying zero up front, as I dont anticipate moving anytime soon. Make sure you read the contract though, as canceling is a little tricky and costly (you can see by most of the reviews on here that people didnt read the contract thoroughly...). As for the gym itself, it suits my needs perfectly. Dont come right after work (5-7pm) as its crazy busy and even finding parking is tough, but any other time its never too busy. Staff has all been incredibly friendly while Ive been there. Good selection of machines and free weights, and the cardio area looks pretty good (not there too often :P). Plus theres a pool and a basketball court. I havent taken any personal training but you see the guys and gals all over the gym working out their clients, and it appears they know what theyre doing. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I feel the hours could be better. Closing at 10 on weekdays should be at least 11 or 12, and the early close times on weekends (8/9pm) suck. All around though its a good gym with good people. Just expect a sales pitch when you come in for a tour and dont sign up for the 5 year contract when you know youll be moving in a few months :).

I did not even get to join! Scheduled an appointment for a tour online. We just wanted to see the facility and get a feel the layout and equipment. When I arrived the receptionist had no knowledge of the appointment and the web assigned tour person was not there. We were introduced to a sales person, Zach I think, who started with the typical sales pitch; "let me have your names, phone numbers and address, get you in the system find out your wants and needs Well that put me off right there. He was going in for a hard close and we had not even seen the place yet. We declined to give him all our information for now and just asked for a tour. After some umms and arrrs and shuffling of papers and glances and clicks to the computer screen, obviously uncomfortable about the switch from his sales pitch, he agreed to give us the quick dime tour basically standing on the middle of the room and sweeping his arms around pointing. We asked to see the upstairs and he had the audacity to say "Well I dont have time for that, I have to get back to my lead generating and to people who are serious about joining. When you have more time to be here we can do the full tour"! We were dumbfounded and couldnt not believe that generating leads on the computer were more important that a couple who had taken the time to actually visit the facility and wanted to know more before giving them our blood. He needs some serious sales and customer service training. We will not go back. His really bad sales technique cost them two motivated members.

I joined this gym in August and have been going four - six days a week consistently ever since. I really love it there. The Aquafit class with Karin is very good although it can be very crowded. I always enjoy my time there and get a good work out. Both Peggy and Rich teach awesome Abs and Bodywork classes that really put you through the paces. Those are some of the best classes Ive taken at any gym. In general Ive never had to wait for cardio equipment but the mats in front of the stair machines can require shuffling to make room for everyone. The front desk staff is fine and in our case we didnt find the sales staff pushy at all. They werent terribly accommodating but they didnt make us uncomfortable in any way. I also really like how staff is vacuuming, checking the pool chemicals and generally keeping an eye on things all day long. It really shows. Cons: *At least one shower seem to be perpetually out of order. I feel bad when its the handicap accessible one. * The cardio room needs to be swept up more - like after every class - I hate getting dust and hair on me if the job has been missed.

LA Fitness used to be a great gym.. I have been a member there for 5 years. During which I have referred three friends to the gym. They have a great selection of cardio and lifting equipment, the cleaning staff is excellent and location is perfect. I have never had a compliant up until now. Ever since they bought out Ballys, the gym has turned into a complete nightmare. I used to go there to relieve stress, but now when I go there my stress rises significantly. It now takes 15 minutes to find parking; by battling with other members over the same spots. You have to stand and wait for a cardio machine to open up. The staff is completely unhelpful of any sorts when asked what the companys plan is to support the new high amount of members. To top that all off, even though the gym is at full capacity, they hold "weekend sales" and pass out free 1 week memberships like they are candy. They show NO loyalty of any sorts to even their longest of costumers. Easily to say, I am taking my business elsewhere.

I hate it because they keep charging my account when i canceled it in person by adhering to their crazy in person only or through mail only rules and never got refunded for the amount they charged. I had an account for me and my husband and my husband never used his and so i suspended his account for a year. After a year from when i suspended his account i had to keep my account on hold paying 10$ monthly due to a personal injury that prevented me from working out as they would charge me a initiation fee if i ever decided to workout again. After a year of paying 10$ monthly, i finally decided to cancel my account and even though i went in person to cancel the account and they confirmed everything is taken careoff they kept charging me 10$ for months. when i finally realized they have been charging me and tried to call them. Firstly, they never answered my phone and finally when i got though they claimed my account was cancelled but my husbands account was billed as that was not cancelled.

I signed up with LAF & a personal trainer for 3 months. $30 membership fee and $200 a month for the trainer ($50 per half hour). I have been there for almost three months now and have had one session with a trainer. I can not reach anybody. My calls are not returned, my emails are unanswered. The trainer I was set up with was fired and nobody else would assist me. Now I am locked in with a company that is near impossible to break a contract with and $690 in the hole. I have received nothing. Such a disappointment! I have sent my letter to corporate to cancel my membership. Crossing my fingers it goes through. They made it sound so fun there and an inexpensive plan, once I was signed up and they had my debit card information, nobody knows anything. I should have looked here before signing up. All of the reviews are bad!
