Two horrid experiences with local 97124 USPS this week. I bought 2 plant starts online. I got the first one on Monday with literally an entire side of the box caved in. No, this was not just a bent corner. The box was so crushed I had to carefuly cut it away. Luckily the seller was careful in their packing. If it had been anything but a small plant, the item would have been broken completely. Now, Im waiting for the second plant and it says it was delivered 2 hours ago via the text alerts. Its nowhere to be found. I have a suspicion things are getting marked as delivered when they havent been to make it appear as though the mailman and/or the local office here are doing efficient work. Outright lying. If you give me false text alerts for delivery, how the hell am I supposed to actually know when my package is there?! And of COURSE theres no productive customer service to actually help me. It was a 40 minute wait to get absolutely nowhere. I guess after 7 days I can file a missing package report, but its a plant starter! It wont be alive in 7 more days! I would like to transplant the little thing ASAP because it has been hot weather and Im sure it misses the sun light. Im not sure I can get back home from work on my lunch to try and take the package inside again tomorrow, that is, assuming it even is delivered tomorrow. I personally use the USPS weekly to ship my business products. As soon as there is an adequate competitor, I will no longer be using USPS as the service continues to decline. This is not the first major issue, but today was the last straw.

I would not even give them a star. I ordered a package and Post office marked that they made an attempt to deliver my package on October 8, 2016. The driver wrote a notice of said attempted delivery was left with instructions to pick up. The tracking information said that no one was home to receive package. I do not believe that there was an attempt made because I was home all day and none ever can down my driveway or to my door. And I never found the instruction to pick up my package. Had I received the notice I would have picked up package. Good job Hillsboro postal service for your spectacular service. I now have to wait until Tursday because Monday is a holiday and I needed that package before Tuesday. Update, I just got notice of a second package not get delivered. Again I was home and the no delivery notice was left. All I can say is wow two packages two days in a row.

For years, my credit card has read "check ID" on the back and for hundreds of merchants, this has been A-ok. Upon checking out at this location, I handed the worker my card along with my license; however, she refused to accept it because it did not have my signature. I kindly reminded her she was holding my license and to verify my identity but apparently my photo ID is not a reputable way to verify my identity while a random signature that could have been forged by Joe Shmoe is. Who knew! Being the forward thinker I am, I said, ok then, could I borrow a Sharpie? She handed one over, I scribbled chicken scratch across the tiny vacant corner, which was not even big enough for the first two letters of my first name, but apparently this confirmed to her that I was, in fact, the credit cards owner.

ATTN: ANY POSTAL SERVICE MANAGEMENT (that cares): This place is an absolute JOKE... As others have noted, customer service does not exist. There is always a line with only one or two clerks on duty at any given time. It is very apparent ALL the employees here have no concerns of any possible job reprimands as they are rude and unhelpful. Ryan is an especially rude, brash and arrogant clerk. One can only hope that the Postal Service does fold - This would allow private enterprise to come in and do the job. At least that would give the public a chance to take their business elsewhere where their patronage would be appreciated. As someone who visits postal facilities often for work-related mailings, I will drive out of my way to visit alternate locations. Thank goodness for email!

I was driving several miles and standing in the line at Hillsboro US Post Office on Saturday July 13 2013 to ship a small package. When I finally got chance to show my box to a single post office clerk in this building he refused to ship my package because it was not taped and said: we dont have a free tape here, but if you need tape you can buy whole roll of tape. Common USPS!!! All that I need is an 8 inch piece of tape. Why should I buy a roll? Another way to get more money from taxpayers? Or side business of USPS? How about charging 10 cents for 8 inch of tape instead? I didnt ship my package that day because I am not reach enough to buy things that I dont use very often. Shame on you Hillsboro Post Office !

This is the friendliest post office Ive ever been to. Ive been going here for 10 years and had only one rude clerk that I have not seen since. Ive lived near and patronized other Portland-area post offices in the past, and this one is the best! The line is usually somewhat long but the clerks keep it moving pretty fast, as they are efficient and knowledgeable. I would agree that it would be nice if they hired an additional clerk to keep another window open, but that is a USPS management decision. They also have a self-service kiosk available 24/7, which is occasionally down but usually up and works great.

Yes, it was a longish wait in line (Christmas season and all). However, the clerk at the desk was quite pleasant, and considering how understaffed they were because of USPS cut-backs, I thought they were doing pretty well. Cut them some slack, folks: "Want to send a letter to Talkeetna, Alaska, from New York? It will cost you fifty dollars by UPS. [USPS] can do it for less than two quarters: the same as the cost of getting a letter from Gold Hill to Shady Cove, Oregon, twenty miles up the road. Its how the postal service works..." --Jesse Lichtenstein, Esquire magazine

I just called this store to get some information and the guy who answered was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. He acted like I was a complete idiot saying things like "look it up on the internet" and practically spelling words out for me. Halfway through the conversation I actually lost my cool and asked him why he was being so rude to me and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. Every time Ive ever been to a post office the people seem like they are there to ruin your day, why is that? If they hate their jobs so much, why do they still work there?

I wonder if the reviews I read are about the same post office I go to in Hillsboro on a regular basis. Over the last 10 years, I have NEVER found any of the postal employees to be anything but helpful, cheerful, and patient. I have seen people who are beyond rude being treated with an attitude that is to be commended. I often thought the postal service must go out of their way to hire and train personnel with great people skills. BRAVO to the postal employees at the Hillsboro Post Office on 1st. Ave. - you do a great job under sometimes very trying situations.
