DONT GO. I would give zero stars if I could...... I wish I could say I liked this salon. I searched online for hours trying to find a salon in Portland that other people were raving about. Alas, I find this salon.... Probably the worst hair cut/color ever received. It was my first time getting an ombre. I asked for a medium brown but the stylist left the bleach in for way too long. As she took off the foils I saw my hair was BLONDE. I was in shock, literally tearing up at the sight. She proceeded to smother my hair with toner to reduce, which shocked my roots and left my ends in despair. The best part of the story was I had to leave the next day for a wedding in Greece. My brothers wedding photos will forever have me with ORANGE and shocked hair in them... I called back upon my return and they offered to fix the color, but I had to pay for another hair cut. Please do more research before picking a salon! Just because a plethora of other women are raving about a salon doesnt mean its your place. Look at the customer base and the types of hair they are cutting. Perhaps they are a good salon, but my stylist certainly did not know how to cut/color my hair.

Being new to Portland I was nervous about finding a salon that would be the right fit for me; I went in to New Vintage Beauty Lounge on a whim and could not have been more pleased with my decision. From the moment I walked in to the unique salon, the service was fantastic; the front desk staff was warm and inviting, and helped me determine exactly what type of appointment I should get scheduled for. When it came time for my actual appointment I was nervous, but my stylist was more than accommodating, taking plenty of time to listen to exactly what I wanted, to look at the photos I had brought in for reference, and explain exactly what they were going to do to my hair, along with why they they were doing what they were doing, step-by-step. The results were exactly what I has envisioned and more. I have since returned for multiple appointments and have seen a few different stylists, they have all done an equally amazing job. I cannot recommend New Vintage highly enough and will definitely be going there as long as Im living in Portland.

I got a cut by Julia about 2 weeks ago, the cut looked great, She styled it very nice, however after getting home and taking a full look at it, I realized how much hair she had taken off, she thinned out my hair so much. My hair was thick and long, and healthy. I didnt really think much of it until I showered the next day I realized I had a lot of split ends, a week went by and the ends were not getting better, I had to get a trim. Now that I think back, she had mentioned how the scissors that she was using on me had not been sharpened the night before. I shouldve stopped her there but I was giving her full trust that she knew what she was doing. I know this is what created the breakage and split ends making my hair look very brittle at the ends. I basically have to cut more of it just to get it to look healthy again.

I highly recommend New Vintage Beauty Salon. I moved to Portland about 6 months ago , and was really putting off getting a haircut. It was just a little nerve-wracking for me, being in a new city, far away from the comforts of my old salon. Finally however, I accepted it was time to get a trim. I was blown away by the New Vintage Salon. The interior is décor is fantastic.. There is an outstanding selection of hair products (I picked up a few for my girlfriend). I also lucked out; I walked in without an appointment at did not have to wait long! I sat with Amber who was very helpful. My hair was a mess, and she gave me a fantastic new “brushed up” look. I feel like I could be GQ model! I highly recommend New Vintage Beauty Salon!

Ally Bond did an amazing job! I brought in pictures of what I wanted and what i didnt want my hair to look like. she not only did exactly what I wanted, but made it better. I had a lot of dead hair at my ends from past bleaching and needed it to be gone, but I also wanted to keep my length. I was nervous at first when she explained what she was going to do, but I always trust whoever is cutting my hair and went with it. She ended up doing a blunt cut and took off about 4" and decided to leave my existing layers alone so that it didnt mess up the overall cut and look I wanted. I cannot say it enough, but i love my new look. I would definitely recommend her to all my friends and family!

Ive been coming to this salon since moving to the neighborhood almost 3 years ago, and even though I changed stylists because one moved away, I have been very happy with both my stylists and the customer service from everyone working here. They do free neck and bang trims in between cuts, making your nice expensive cut go even farther. They always offer you a beverage, either water, tea, wine or beer, or coffee in the morning. I like how instead of a sterile or clean/modern look, the decoration theme is a warm VIctorian vintage golden feeling, with modern hints like deer antlers and modern electronica music. I highly recommend this salon, and in particular, my stylist Natalie Aliff.

I love, love, love this place! I normally dont take the time to write review positive or negative. But I had to give this salon props. I have been going to this salon for the past year after trying so many other salons in the area and being disappointed. NVBL has delivered every time. I have thick, course, curly hair so its not easy working with my mane. Due to my work schedule I end up booking last minute so its hard to stick with the same person. I have seen 2 different stylists so far and have not been let down. My original stylist even helped my new stylist formulate my color. Im never going anywhere else. Best game in town! Ive tried a few different salons in the Portland area. This was by far my best experience yet. I was warmly greeted by the girl at the front desk and offered coffee/tea/wine/beer! I had a slight idea of what I wanted for my cut and color but wasnt exactly sure how to put it into words, after a very thorough consultation my stylist got to work, she definitely "got" exactly what I wanted and I instantly felt comfortable. My hair turned out better than I could have imagined! The whole appointment was enjoyable from start to finish. The vibe of New Vintage rules, all the hair dressers have unique personal style and seem to have a lot of fun! I found my place!

Amelia is wonderful! I have never had a stylist actually sit down and ask me about my hair habits and lifestyle. She took the time to listen to my concerns and gave me honest advice that I truly appreciate. I have never walked out of a hair salon feeling as confident with my hair cut as I did coming out of New Vintage Beauty Lounge. The place is very comfortable and inviting on the inside.
