I traveled an hour and a half from Vancouver to Salem arriving at 11:30am to purchase one of three advertised vehicles that reflected on their website as being on hand as of 10am. The salesman was quite pleasant and explained that two of the three had already sold; however, one was still available. I waited for him to bring it around for viewing as it was raining heavily. He returned, explaining that the third one had just sold to another customer that arrived just before me. He offered other vehicles that were in inventory and I explained I came specifically for the three 2015 Nissan Altimas and thanked him for his time. As I began to leave, he told me the purchasing agent for their dealership was in the office and he wanted to have time to ask if she would be able to deliver any other Nissan Altimas meeting the criteria I was looking for. He came back, explaining she had six available and said he also spoke with the manager who would price them the same as the three Altimas I had come down for if I returned when they arrive that day. He advised he would call when they arrived. I returned to Vancouver and received a call from him after only 20 minutes stating the six were en-route from Hillsboro. I told him I would return that evening with my family to purchase one of the six with cash and thanked him for working to secure a vehicle at that price. He called again at 4:30pm asking if I was still planning on returning, which I confirmed I was leaving and would likely arrive around 7pm due to contending with rush hour traffic and pending weather delays due to the expected change from rain to snow. He called again at 6:55pm and I advised I was just pulling up. When he greeted me, he was pleasant as before and explained he would have another salesman help me since he was busy with another customer. The vehicle was as promised; however when I told him I would be paying cash, the new salesman changed the price they would honor to $1,000.00 more than previously stated. He advised the six new Altimas had not been inspected, that he was unaware of any deal agreeing to honor the price of the other three vehicles I had come in for earlier and could not sell for anything other than Kelly Blue Book average for the year, make and model. The original salesman conveniently disappeared and the manager who he had spoke with earlier in the day to inquire about the six incoming Nissan Altimas stated he knew nothing about honoring the price of the previous three in stock . It took 7 hours to return home due to the snowstorm that hit Portland. I am extremely disappointed with the unethical dealings of this dealership and complete waste of my time. I ended up purchasing a 2015 Nissan Altima with the same specs AND same price at Cadillac of Portland Lloyd Center. I plan on purchasing one more vehicle. I will be certain never to deal with Volkswagen of Salem and caution anyone reading my review to consider purchasing elsewhere to avoid this dealerships bait and switch tactics!

Overall, my experience with OBrian Auto Group has been superb. During the purchase of my car, they bent over backward to make a deal work, even though my trade-in wasnt worth anything. It took them a day to do it, but in the end I left in the best car Ive ever owned. My Golf TDI is amazing; 40-45 MPG constantly and 10,000 miles between oil changes. Its terribly fun to drive, especially on mountainous highways. My 2-door Golf hauls amazing amounts of cargo, turns on a dime, and is remarkably comfortable, even in the back seat! All black, with tinted windows, I never fail to get comments from the kids working drive-thru at Starbucks or McDonalds. Its just awesome! I bought this car after looking at the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang. Neither of those cars were built for someone who needs a "real" car as a daily driver that can haul people and things, park anywhere, and be very comfortable for 1000 mile trips. Service is unparalleled. Loaner cars are high-quality (often new), free and readily available. The waiting room is extremely comfortable and stocked with bottled water and has TV and WiFi (although IMAP email is blocked for some reason). All service appointments include a free car wash/vacuum and are usually quick and complete. I bought my car in 2011, and I am still in love with it two years and 55,000 miles later. OBrian Auto Group has provided great service to back up an amazing car. My most recent interaction with them proved their honesty and dedication to satisfying my requests. I highly recommend them.

My VW had a problem which German Motors (who I wear by and have been going to for nearly 20 years) said was under an extended warranty. They said the repair would cost over $3000 if they did it but having the dealer take care of it under warranty would save me a whole lot of money. When I brought it in to Lithia Greg said having it under warranty had saved me over $4000. Hmmm...thats a $1000 difference! Once the car was on the lift they showed me another problem...the battery had leaked acid on the transmission pan, starter, and the booster hose had a hole in it and this was VERY serious. Greg said since German Motors failed to find this issue, I should let Lithia make the repairs..and that while Lithia was a bit more expensive than German Motors, they had certified technicians. I blithely ignored him and called German Motors who said bring it in and theyd take care of it. When I told Greg my decision he was annoyed with me and couldnt believe Id go to German Motors after they "missed" this issue. Then Greg had to find the technician as he was busy preparing a parts order for my car. Finally Greg said they would match German Motors prices. I stuck with my decision. I picked up my car after the warranty work was done, and took it to German Motors who replaced the battery, which was under warranty, and manually removed all the battery acid. The booster hose did not have a hole in it and no parts were needed. There was no bill. What more can i say?

Greg and the service department are pretty great guys, only issue is they are super busy and never get back. They offered to pick up my car in Portland so I didnt have to drive down for a certification--left messages and nobody ever called back until they basically said bring it or else. Sales is sales--hold your wallet and just keep your eyes on the paperwork and numbers. About 3 times in the sales process when people were changing in front of me I found they were swapping out their oil change packages and the fine print in the service details on the final paperwork was different than the one the guy was selling me on--brought it up and the finance guy was basically telling me dont worry about it. Sales guy will promise you numbers but their final deal will be different on paper--keep an eye on that trade in value after he walks out the room. They like to throw around "new tires" and grab $1500 or so... new tires do not cost that much. Volkswagen brand is solid; dealership reputation is what it always has been. This is a finely tuned sales machine they are going to change faces in front of you about 3 times, change paperwork a few times and just keep your calculator out and watch those numbers. Sales guy is impatient with people doing that. Also watch how many times they tap your credit. I noticed a few weeks later that they promised one hit and saw about 3 come through at the end of the day from them.
