First off let me begin by stating that 2 out of the 4 (Sherri & Deidre) reviews that gave this agency a 5 star rating are by employees who work the front desk at the Vito Dentino Agency. Therefore they are false and inaccurate reviews used to boost the Google review rating. Furthermore those agents who offered their dishonest 5 star reviews are about as qualified as anyone off the streets to be front desk attendants at a business let alone licensed rental agents.... As for the Vito Dentino Agency as a whole, they are all incredibly unprofessional, unqualified, and overall what is predominantly wrong with the rental community of California, PA. Vito will rarely, if ever, speak to you personally because he has no respect for people that ultimately pay his salary. He is the purest definition of a slumlord in my opinion (and others). Vito even owns and rents properties through different rental agencies with different names because his own personal agency has such a poor reputation. When my roommate and I first inquired with the Vito Dentino Agency 2 years ago our initial emails and phone calls were never returned by the office. After repetitive attempts of contact we were finally able schedule tours of potential dwellings. We were shown around to several different apartments and houses on two different occasions by both of Vitos finest agents, Barb and Sherri. Both of whom leave much to be desired when it comes to overall professionalism, general manners, and rental insight. All of our tours combined lasted 15 minutes total. Each time we were shown a different place, doors were simply unlocked, opened, and then we essentially showed ourselves around. At no time was anything discussed further than the name of each room. Most of our questions towards the agents were met with blank stares and shrugging of the shoulders. Despite our poor initial impression, we still chose to rent from the Vito Dentino Agency because he owns and/or leases nearly 90% of the student off campus housing in and around California PA and the campus of CalU. Thankfully however, we rented a house that was NOT owned by Vito himself, but a separate landlord. So after signing our lease our contact with the agency was limited throughout our 2 years of living in our house. Nonetheless, those few interactions were still miserable and unprofessional. After living our first year in our house, the agency conducted an inspection that is standard procedure following each yearly lease term. Although this is stated in the lease and by letter to be a very detailed inspection it doesnt even come close. My roommate witnessed first hand the inspection that went exactly like this. An agent entered the house, walked through the first floor with no lights on and my roommate present and following, then she proceeded upstairs into the bedrooms where again no lights were on and my roommate followed, opened each bedroom door, did not step in, closed each door, walked downstairs and told my roommate to clean his room, and then left. Following this we received our FULL security deposit with no hassle other than the fact that the agency sent my check to the wrong address so they had to cancel it and issue a new one weeks later. Fast forward to this year when my roommate and I move out. It was the same understood procedure as the previous year except the house was empty upon inspection. I quote the term inspection because their definition of such is clearly different than the real definition. Upon the end of our lease and leaving our house my roommate and I cleaned our house from top to bottom. Scrubbed walls, toilets, showers, floors. You name it, it was spotless. Not to mention we were extremely, exceptionally clean to begin with. Our landlord even complimented us on such. But following Vitos inspection my roommate and I are now being charged nearly $200 EACH for nonexistent damages and fabricated cleaning. Just another example of how the crook of California Vito Dentino runs his business. DO NOT RENT FROM HIM. If i could give this business negative stars I would.

Im a parent that my child rented from Vito. A few minutes ago I was hung up on by this man. Let me explain. I wanted to get to the bottom of why my security deposit was not refunded inthe correct amount. So I decided to call and talk with Vito. I could not get a word in edgewise. He yelled and treated me horrible. I was calm at first. I let him vent. He charged us for a screen that was located in the closet. When I confronted him with the contract and the Pennsylvania landlord and tentant act he wouldnt talk about it. As he laid he phone down I could hear him talking bad about me as if it didnt matter. He charged us late fees but explained that loans were late thats out of control. However in the pennsylavania landlord tenant act..security deposits have to be refunded within 30 days it was 60+. And it was correct amount. My question was to him...I am being penalized for being late, but you are clearly breaking an agreement but its ok. No pentalies for him. Vito was rude and down right unprofessional. After looking st all the other reviews surely this guy is not a great business owner. We are out money for repairs and late fees that really are overcharged. But hey if he can rest at night....

If you have a choice, do not rent from Vito Dentino. But unfortunately if you are like a majority of Cal U students who live just off campus you dont have much of a choice. If you get stuck renting from this guy, make sure you take plenty of pictures right before you move in anything in to your apartment or house, and take plenty of pictures after you have everything moved out before you turn in your keys. I mean every wall and every appliance. They tried charging me and my roommates for a dent in a refrigerator that was there when we moved in to the house. Lucky for us I was aware of this and took a time-stamped picture of it when we moved in. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not taking pictures upon move-out because they charged us for non-existent scuffs and marks on the kitchen wall. Our kitchen walls were in the same exact condition as when we moved in but we couldnt go back in to prove it because they supposedly already repainted the kitchen walls. They are a bunch of crooks and Vito comes around being nosy, looking inside windows when people arent home trying to catch people partying or something. If you make Vito your first choice, you are warned.

Hi there - I was looking for an apartment near cal-u... I did a Google search for Dentino Agency, and easily found their website... The site was very informative and I was able to choose several apartments to look at... The very next day I called the office to make an appt to see these properties... When I showed up, the one lady took me for a tour of these apartments plus two more.... I found the perfect apartment that is within walking distance of the university... You know I was concerned about the quality of the apartments in California, PA from reading the reviews - but they were unfounded... The places that I looked at seemed to be very nice... Thanks !!!
