This is the first negative post I’ve ever posted, but I feel it’s necessary. I read another post where Smiths "encouraged" unnecessary repairs in order to pass the PA state inspection, the car owner went to a dealership who confirmed the repairs were not needed. I have over 30 years of extensive automotive mechanic experience and know my wife’s car did not need the repairs recommended by Smith, however I was out of state and my wife took Smith’s unnecessary recommendation to replace the front/rear rotors and brakes at a cost of over $1000. Smith’s completed the work however the car had a very noticeable front end noise. Since I was out of town the car was taken to a reliable mechanic who discovered that both front break calipers were loose to the point the bolts could be removed by hand. If the bolts had totally backed out it would cause, at a minimum, uneven front braking which could cause an accident. The negligence could also cause very costly brake and front end damage. I’ve also had past issues with Smith’s appointment schedule. I would not recommend Smith’s.

For two years I had a nagging front end noise that the auto dealership that I bought the car from could not figure out in 4 attempts over those two years - they even suggest I start replacing expensive suspension parts in hope of finding the problem. I gave my car to Smiths for a timing belt and asked while they were at it if they could find the source of the noise. The mechanic Bryce came out and had me demonstrate the noise and that was it. Less than two hours later I get a call that he found the source of the problem. The irony is - the source was a bad ball joint which should not have passed two of the state inspections that the auto dealer performed on my car. I credit Bryces outstanding level of expertise and determination to find the problem. I am a first time customer as of this review and I must say the level of professionalism and courtesy is just as high as their level of technical competence. They went above and beyond any other local business that Ive used here in Doylestown since I moved here in 1998. Thanks for everything.

My mother in law went in for a state inspection because she lived at the retirement home across the street. They told her she passed inspection but just barely and she needed several repair immediately. So my mother in law was worried but she wanted to speak with her son,my husband, and the young man working there belittled and was angry that she didnt make the decision right then and there. We picked up the car and were treated poorly when we paid. When my husband saw what they recommended he took the car to the dealer to make sure his mom was safe. Not only did the dealer say she didnt need any of the recommendations, but that they themselves made this one specific repair not 3 months ago. I will never return and I never leave messages like this but I just feel like they were trying to take advantage of an older woman.

I have been taking my car to them for the past 1 1/2 years. I originally took my car there because it was withing walking distance from my office. I now religiously only take my and my boyfriends cars there for any and all work. The men that work there are very polite and straight forward. Ive often felt being a woman that a lot of mechanics I go to talk down to me or dont explain everything. They are very up front, call you with any changes and offer you a ride, which is great when the weather is bad. I now have everyone in my office going, they even work on my co-workers Prius. I tell everyone who lives in the area to use them and reccomend them whenever I can. Jim and Ron are great!

I had an emergency with my car. They were able to accommodate me. They communicated great! They suggested that there were some additional things that needed to be addressed on my car. They took care of my problem and I got some other things done. Very happy with the customer service! John and Guy were very friendly and easy to talk to and explained what was going on. Im not very mechanically inclined. Got my car done the same day! I was very pleased with my service. Will definitely be going back!

Best prices, best service and best everything. Ive been to so many garages and no one ever went above and beyond like Smiths. With this hard economy, Smiths is a beacon of hope for car owners. I had multiple things done to my car and paid a price all other garages would charge for just one of the many services completed. They even called the next day to make sure everything was fine and asked if I had any other questions. Before going anywhere else, try Smiths.

Nick the owner and Guy the front desk are very friendly and knowledgeable. They keep me informed of what my car needs and what will be needed down the road. They have a new digital inspection report now and its awesome, they sent it to me via text, I was able to show it to my husband and we now can see everything they are seeing too. Best service station I have been too.

After I got an outrageous quote from the dealer, I decided to get a second opinion from a local shop, boy am I glad I did. Not only did I get my problem fixed, but after talking to the guys at Smiths, I also got some maintenance taken care of that I kept pushing off. All for way less than the dealer quote. I am done with the dealer, Im a Smiths customer now.

Took my car to Smith’s, and was very happy with the service. The mechanics are very knowledgeable. The prices are fair and I found them to be very honest. My father, uncle, and co-workers are also going there now, and they too, have been very happy with the service. I would highly recommend them.
