I had this company hook up a gas dryer in my new house because the gas line to the dryer was about two feet too short. The job ended up taking about 40 minutes and I was charged $400 (at the owners direction, I was told) when every other company Id talked to had quoted me around $100-150. To top it off, since it was a Saturday there was no one in the office to answer why I was being charged so much. Ive been calling basically every day for over a week to get some answers and Ive consistently been told by numerous people "The boss knows youre trying to reach him, hell get back to you tomorrow." Well, its been over a week of tomorrows and nobody has gotten back to me. I guess Ill keep calling and update this review should something change. Edit: Now its been over two weeks, still no response out of anyone despite calling every day. Edit 2: Now its been over three weeks. Still no explanation. Edit 3: Its been a month of calling almost every day and still nobody will call me back from this place to explain why we were charged so much for such a simple job. I wouldnt recommend bothering with this company for anything if you have another option like another plumber or a bunch of poison you can drink.

So me and my mother had called Edward Huges this past winter for a problem we were having with our heater and someone came out I think his name was Andrew and gave us a price for around $600 for a new part. We had called back to get the heater fixed and Jeff came out a really tall guy and who was much nicer then the first and said he would check everything out for us before he did anything and Im glad he did because what he had done saved us so much money! He checked out our system and found the issue and it wasnt what the first guy said so the end result was awesome and Jeff was with my mom explaining everything and took the time to answer all of our questions. He was very polite and professional and spent more time with us then the first guy did. So the end result was great and if we have anymore issues we will be calling back and asking for him

Used Ed Hughes and Sons 3 times in the past 5 years. They are located in and are familiar with my neighborhood. This was a big deal in that they new exactly what to look for. First repair turned out to be no more than tightening a loose screw. It happened to be deep inside my furnace and therefore was a little pricey. Second repair was 2 years later and involved replacing an ignitor unit on same furnace which required some dis-assembly and also seemed a little pricey. Third visit was a quick repair of central air condenser. I initially went with another company and it turned out they overlooked a simple fix (a part simply needed to be replaced) and immediately began trying to talk me into $8,000 complete HVAC renovation. Never had trouble getting in touch with Hughes. They always returned calls. They were prompt.

This company was scheduled to come beween 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. After 12:15 p.m., I call and they say they will be there in a little bit. Where is there respect for the homeowners time? A quick phone call in the morning that they were off-schedule could have helped tremendously. Each person at the company blames the other. When the plumber calls at 1:30 p.m. and says that hes on his way but hes up in the Northeast and its going to take a while. I asked him why he simply did not call me and tell me this in the morning and he replied that he had just received my phone number and my address. Obviously the company over schedules and then were just supposed to sit around and wait for them all day. This shows a total lack of care and respect for the customer. I will not use this company ever again.

Completely lied to us and tried to rip us off for a $1700 repair when only our water pan was cracked, a $300 repair. "Andrew" told us we HAD to replace our coil and everything with the water pan, which is a bold faced lie. Then "Andrew" wouldnt leave our house until we paid him a $125.00 "service charge" when on the website it says "Free Estimates". We had another company replace the water pan for a litte over $300.00, a BIG difference from $1700. Now Mr. Ed Hughes is refusing to refund the $125.00 "Service Charge". Horrible company, do not EVER use them.

Worst experience ever. Work completed improperly the first time and instead of fixing it the second time they actually caused damage to a wall in the house instead. Owners son was supposed to come a see the problem and never showed. Waited again another day and was told that someone was on the way but no one showed. The only answer I received is that they will get around to the repairs when they have time but its not a priority. Basically left with no other option than to proceed with legal action. Be forewarned people.

Hughes Plumbing repeatedly missed appointments on multiple occasions with no phone call or follow-up. Also, during the installation of a new HVAC unit, the roof was not properly sealed which resulted in a major leak in our home. It took over a year to get the problem resolved and the roof patched and drywall fixed - again with major delays and missed appointments. The overall the customer service and quality of work was extremely poor.

I always call Hughs Plumbing from time-to-time and never seem to have a problem. Actually I called another company about a year ago compare prices, and to repair busted pipe in my basement, and other minor/major bathroom repairs. The other company said I would have to call another plumber for the bathroom issues. Their price to only replace the pipe in my basement was the same price Hughs quoted to do both jobs.

I started with Edward Hughes and son plumbing several years ago, since my previous one ceased operations. No complaints. They let you know what is going to occur and they want your input. They were here today, it was a difficult job, but they did a outstanding service. I strongly recommend Edward Hughes and son plumbing and heating.

95 degree day and my brand new air conditioner was not working properly. After a little unsuccessful troubleshooting I called EH&S around 9am and had a technician at my home by 10:30am. Within 40 mins we discovered that a mouse had chewed through a wire. It was fixed in no time at a very reasonable rate. Id recommend EH&S to anyone.

Wow! and Wow! - The plumber that came to my house was courteous and knowledgeable. He explained what needed to get done to get my heater going and at a reasonable price. I truly respect Edward Hughes & Sons, Inc. They get the job done!

This company was a disaster. Overcharged, never fixed the problem, and had no clue what they were doing. They are horrible at returning calls and have lousy customer service. Stay Away!
