Ive been working with Lea for many years. Lea has been the kindest, quickest, and most resourceful outside vendor Ive worked with. She always seems to find an option that will work even if I present her with difficult schedule or financial constraints. Very recently (today) she was able to cancel a reservation from Friday and issue a ticket on another airline on the same dates without any extra fee. And 10 minutes later I was entering the itinerary into my calendar and found another conflict, which she corrected very patiently. If I had to criticize Peoples Travel, it would be that they dont have any after-hours phone numbers and they dont have an automatic way to update Outlook with an electronic itinerary. However, these issues are quite minor in most cases. As far as finding people who are wonderful to deal with, I think Peoples Travel (Lea) is tops! Reading some of these reviews, I cannot even believe Im reading about the same agency. Ive dealt with two women in the office and they were both great. One other thing--the travel business has been screwed up by the airlines. The airlines used to pay commissions to the agents and now they pay nothing. The agencies have to charge a fee or they get nothing. So I think a $25 fee on a $1,000 ticket is quite reasonable, especially given the amount of effort absent-minded professors like me cause them from time to time.

Im afraid I am going to have to go with all the complaints about Vijay as everyone else. Impossible or difficult to work with. To get the little service that I did get, it was difficult and slow to work with. His manners were like I was wasting his time. When asked for prices for hotels and such, he at first just went on to travelocity or some other website and cut-and-pasted all the hotels available from there (gee, I could have done that). Then later, I ended up finding a 4-star hotel for much cheaper in the same area, on my own. When I asked for travel arrangements, I was just simply told that he cannot help me. He did nothing for me that I could have done, with much less trouble, with an online travel website, like expedia, or yahoo travel, or even google.

I DONT KNOW HOW THIS COMPANY IS STILL IN BUSINESS! I am a CMU employee and called them for assistance with an international reservation. I spoke with Vijay who was extremely rude and totally unhelpful. I experienced all of the same issues that are described by others below. I can not believe that an associate of mine recommended this company and I will never deal with them again. It is hard for me to understand how a company with such poor service is able to survive. They must have friends in high (6th floor) places.

We called them up recently and asked them if they could help us book flight tickets to India. We got a response from a male (I think Vijay) who said he cannot help. We were shocked to get such a response. He asked us if we are travelling in the next couple of days to which we said no. He asked us to email him (which we already had done and did not get a response, hence called them), that too extremely rudely and hung up. Please do not approach them. - From a CMU employee

DO NOT go with Vijay , who works here. I have never had anyone speak so impolitely to me. While trying to reach him to make a booking, he hung up on me thrice!! Very impolite and rude travel agent. He would ask you to send an e-mail with your itinerary plan, which he neither replies on nor answers to you phone call which you would naturally make because of the delay. Very HORRIBLE! Dont go here.

We have had only VERY POSITIVE experiences with Peoples Travel. Our regular agent is Patty; and she is terrific. She is always very prompt in responding to our requests, 100% accurate, and extremely courteous and helpful. Indeed, on one occasion she saved the day on a European trip by rerouting one of us at the last minute when a flight out of PIT was cancelled. Highly recommended!

I agree with the posting on Vijay listed in 2007. I had been a customer of Peoples Travel for more than 20 years because they are approved by the University, but I never dealt with Vijay until recently. The lack of service and exorbitant prices quoted by Peoples Travel make CheapOAir look like a premier service.

Absolutely horrible travel agent. Rude, arrogant and unprofessional. Hangs up without letting you finish. Save your time and energy and go get a better deal online. With their high prices and service down the drain there is no reason to be dealing with such an uncivilized excuse of a human being.
