Let me tell you about the amazing experience I just had at Plymouth Auto and Tire Center. Its the Friday afternoon before memorial day weekend. Normally, people are thinking about trips to the shore, BBQs, family reunions, swimming pools, and the unofficial start of summer. None of those outside influences mattered during my exchange with the woman who I assume was the owner of the shop (please forgive me as I never actually got your name).A little bit of background on me. Im active duty in the military and stationed down south. I was passing through PA to see my family that lives here while on my way to upstate NY for my cousins wedding and to see more family that I havent seen in about a decade.I have been delaying my oil change in my car due to other more pressing maintenance issues (new clutch, new flywheel, new rear main seal, and new wheel bearings). I realized driving up to PA yesterday that I was 3000 miles over my oil change, and was going to put an additional 1500 miles on my car before the trip was over. I tried several local shops in the area, and the response was the same; "Cant help Ya" or "Im too busy right now" (when there are several empty bays open....Im looking at you Getty on Fayette street in Conshohocken) or (and this was the worst one) "Its a holiday weekend". In one last attempt on my quest for an oil change, I tried Plymouth Auto and Tire. Upon initially entering, I inquired as to what the wait was for an oil change. The woman initially told me that she had several vehicles lined up and that my chances were pretty slim that it would happen. She asked to set me up an appointment for tomorrow or maybe Tuesday of next week. I explained that unfortunately that wouldnt work for me due to not living in the area, and I would be back on the road early in the morning. She asked where I lived, to which I answered with my duty station in VA. Upon finding out more details of my story, she immediately excused herself, walked into the shop and spoke with one of the mechanics. Upon her re-entry, she informed me that not only could they do the oil change for me, but they would take my car back immediately. I was beyond shocked, and grateful because this was exactly the opposite of what the days previous experiences had taught me. We conversed while I waited on my car, and it turns out that her son and daughter-in-law are active duty in the Navy. When it came time to settle up the bill, she informed me that it had been taken care of already. Now, I have a hard time accepting generosity based on my service because thats not why I do what I do. I made a deal with her and gave her some money to buy some food for the mechanics that worked on my car, or whatever else she chooses to use it for. The point of this review is to highlight the fact that this business took time out of their lives to help out a fellow human-being who needed it. That is something that I have found sorely lacking in society these days, and I felt really inclined to share this story with all of you who are considering giving them your business to hopefully persuade you to do so. Based off of my experience today, I will certainly be letting my family in the area know about this as well. Thank you again, Plymouth Auto and Tire, and thank you to the few people that read this review and give them your business.

Well, the last thing I needed to happen after buying my first home was a blown transmission on a 5 year old vehicle...but as we all know, we dont get to pick the timing. On top of that, the "extended warranty" I purchased when I bought my vehicle a few years ago turned out to be a scam. Somehow, I was sold a service contract that accompanied the rest of the life of the factory warranty that existed on the vehicle at the time of purchase. Totally not what I was sold, as I had asked specific questions to avoid this type of situation. Needless to say, my odometer read 5,000 miles over the expiration mileage the contract allowed. Hows that for timing? Through all of this, Plymouth Auto accommodated my every need. When I dropped my car off, they handed me the keys to their loaner vehicle. This blew my mind, as they are a small shop and most dealers anymore dont even provide you with a loaner. I was so grateful that I wouldnt have to figure out how to get to and from work. Lisa soon called me to explain (very thoroughly) that my transmission needed to be replaced, which was devastating news. She inquired as to whether or not I had a warranty, which I thought I did...and she asked me to forward a copy so that she could read through it. She called me back and confirmed that the transmission is covered, but asked me to confirm the mileage expiration. By now, you know how that turned out. After getting the bad news, I called Lisa, who could tell I was pretty upset. She was very sympathetic and was willing to do whatever she could to help. I was told to keep the loaner however long I needed it. She stayed on the phone with me while we brainstormed ideas as to how to pay the $5,200 bill, even referring me to a finance company theyve worked with in the past, to avoid paying the huge sum outright. Being very patient and understanding, she told me to call her back when I decided. When I called back to give them the go-ahead, I asked her if they could just make sure nothing else was in bad shape. They performed a courtesy check, explaining what else should be done and what didnt need to be done. By this time, Lisa had gained my full trust because she was so knowledgeable. I had them perform some other services to ensure I wouldnt be in a similar situation any time soon. Because she knew my situation, Lisa went above and beyond to accommodate me. Although she couldnt make the huge bill go away, she was comforting and much nicer than she needed to be. On top of what they did regarding the present services to ease the blow, she also explained their rewards program. Lets just say that by having the work done with them this time around, my next few services will be more than paid for. In all my years, and all the shops I have had work done at, I have NEVER encountered such a rewarding loyalty program. In addition to them having the lowest gas prices in this area, I will now be using them for future maintenance or required service. I cannot say enough about the customer service I received. Even if I could have saved a little money by going elsewhere, I wouldnt trade this experience. It was INVALUABLE!! Thank you all, and Lisa especially! GO COWBOYS!! :)

BUYER BEWARE!!! I am shocked and dismayed to have to report that this company is currently trying to hold my daughters car hostage! We were lured in with a $29.95 Inspection offer with free emissions last Saturday, which seemed like a great deal. I even called several times weeks in advance of bringing my daughters car in. This week we received their estimate, $377 of which they required to pass the state inspection, though it is purportedly only change 3 light bulbs and replace a mirror. I looked up the parts for those repairs and for a Geo Prizm they only cost about $100 - even say $120 for the sake of discussion. Moreover, I just had one of the same three lights changed in my Honda Civic and it cost me $15 total for the part and labor. So I called at 6pm and left a message (after hours) explaining that the cost of the estimate didnt jibe with my expectation of the cost of those repairs, and that I wanted an explanation of the costs behind the estimate. I called back again today and first they told me that they wouldnt honor the $29.95 offer for the inspection - in spite of leaving more than 5 messages on my cellphone for the past 2 months promoting it - unless I had a coupon for it; when I argued they eventually relented and told me that the discount was applied. Then they put a Manager on the line - I dont recall her name but I only heard of two - her and the fellow Lenny who originally read the estimate to my wife. This woman interrupted me immediately after I started trying to explain the situation to her. I told her that at this point, without any explanation of the estimate, I was more inclined to take back the car than allow them to do any further work on it. She continued to talk over me, and rather than explain the estimate, or honor their work, she insisted that they would charge me again for the same service if I completed the repairs elsewhere and returned for the sticker. So now the original "deal" that was offered for $29.95 required me to have any and all repairs that they deem necessary accomplished at their shop as well, or they wont honor their original offer. None of this was part of the deal when we signed up. Given how many people change their own light bulbs, fuses and batteries, and the popularity of Napa and AutoZone, Im shocked they would try this tactic. Whats worse is that I would have probably approved the repairs if I could fathom why labor would be $275 to change 3 bulbs and assemble a mirror. At this point they seem like charlatans performing a classic bait-and-switch. We got lured in with the cheap inspection service and now will have to pay for it again simply because they prefer to extort their customers rather than explain their estimates. I warn anyone else considering the discounted inspection that they behave this way and urge you to spend the extra $45 and go to a shop that you already know. Ill have to pay more than that additionally now anyway by virtue of their "deal".
