First experience with GEM Pluming - and definitely my LAST!!!! So I have a leaky pipe in my basement, unfortunately it required us turning off the main water to prevent any further issues. Since it was after 5:00pm, I decided to give GEM Plumbing a call, I knew it was going to cost me a premium because it was after hours, what I didnt know was the gouging that was yet to follow!!! OUCH!!! I spoke with a very nice receptionist who informed me that there would be a service free of $129.00 for the house call. When I asked how much it would be to replace an 8 inch piece of 1/2 inch pipe, she told me she would have the service tech call and he should be able to give me a pretty good estimate. So we arranged a call back from the technician. I did receive a call back. After speaking with the tech for a few minutes, he informs me we are looking at approximately $500 for the repair!! Huh?? So I just had to ask the question, "do you wear a mask and carry a gun, if not you should". All kidding aside I can understand charging a bit of a premium for after-hours work...but a service fee of $59.00 during the day, and MORE than double at night?? And on top of that approximately $375.00 to replace an 8 inches of pipe that would take an experience person less than 30 minutes? Thanks, but NO - Ill wait for the local guy, that is 1/4th the price. Oh and more thing GEM - Im sure copper pipes will work fine - we dont need TITANIUM!!!

We called Gem Plumbing and Heating in the Monday is the AM because we had little to no water pressure from our well pump. Nelson arrived sooner that we thought he would. He got right to work and figured out the problem very quickly. We approved the estimate and Nelson got right to work. The first thing he did was to put covering on our floor from the entry to the well water tank. He went out to the supply outlet and returned very quickly with the parts that were needed for this repair. When Nelson finished he explained what repairs were performed in a way that we could understand easily as lay people. When we looked at the repairs after he finished, the area was clean, the repairs looked very neat and uncluttered. We would tell anyone we know that needed home repairs to call GEM especially after our experience with Nelson and the 2 other technicians that came by to assist. Nelson also indicated that we needed additional servicing of our water filtration system that we had not thought about. It’s good to have someone who took that much care and professionalism with our home. Thank you GEM.

I recently had somewhat of an emergency heating situation at my home and called Gem Plumbing. The woman I spoke with was very nice and she was able to fit me into the schedule for the same day that I called. She was up front and said she couldnt give me an exact time frame for when someone would show up but that I would receive a call 30-45 min prior to their arrival. At approximately 2pm I recd a call letting me know a tech would be at my house within the hour and sure enough, Robert D. showed up, blanket in hand so he would get my floors wet! Robert was a very pleasant, professional tech who asked me some questions and went right to work. Robert was personable with a great personality. Even after encountering a little hiccup along the way, he never got frustrated nor did I ever feel that he was upset and didnt become grumpy as so many service techs can. He maintained his personable demeanor and said he would take care of the problem which he did. I would highly recommend Gem Plumbing and Heating for the attentiveness and courteous manner and ask for Robert! He did a great job!

If I could give this place a NEGATIVE i would! They came to my house after finding a split in my copper. I called at 11am they couldnt get anyone out to my house until 6pm. It was a call for a split pipe, it turned into them trying to charge me over $1,000 for other equipment he claimed we needed plus the copper fix. They came shut the water off and charged me $60 to do that and tell me I needed to pay $1,000 to do the work. I asked the person how much it would be without the extra work he "recommended" and he couldnt even give me a price. He just wanted to send someone out in the morning! Without giving me a price! These are the worst type of people to give business to. They turned off the water supply to my furnace and left, I come back to find it humming like crazy. I will 100% have someone else do the work and if I need a new furnace I will be taking them to small claims court with proof of their terrible business antics and sueing then for a new one! Go anywhere else but this ripoff company!! Dont fall for reviews like I did! They are thieves

I was visiting my daughter and her family in Rhode Island and a plumbing problem arose. She had used Gem plumbing before and recommended them. I called Sunday evening and was given an appointment time for the following day. Brian P. arrived to save the day. I have above average mechanical skills but this job was beyond my scope of competence. Brian talked me through what he would need to do and what parts would be needed and gave me an estimate. There were several times during the repair that improvisation was called for and every time Brian had a creative and efficient answer to the problem. As a former pipe fitter I was impressed with the way his plumbing looked below the sink. His mastery of his craft was apparent in form as well as function. The bill came in slightly under the estimate even with the creative problem solving. I can (and do) highly recommend Brian P.

Bad bad customer service I contacted national for a thermostat They send my information to GEM , I was suppose to be call whithin 9 days, Never happens ! I call back to National Grid and they give me GEM phone number so I called and I was transfer to a voicemail, I left a message with my phone number. I never had a call back , so 5 days later I called again and I did expain the situation to a customer service representative, She told me they were too busy!!! and send me again to the same voicemail. I believe this person begin to work after 12:00....Never had a call back , Really 5 days!!! and can not return a phone call? DO NOT DO ANY BUSSINESS WITH THEM. THEY DO NOT HAVE TIME TO FOLLOW UP WITH CUSTOMER AND IT IS VERY FRUSTRAIRING WHEN YOU FEEL IGNORE AFTER ALL WE CUSTOMER PAY FOR THE SERVICE.

We chose GEM to perform an installation of several ductless AC units throughout our home. We could not be happier with this decision! From the initial estimate to the completed installation, GEM was a pleasure to do business with. Rob D. and his team showed up right on time each day and constantly communicated with us to ensure we knew what was happening throughout the whole installation. He took the time to ask us our preferences on placement and location of all the units, tubing and wiring so there were no surprises. Everyone on the team was courteous and friendly so it never felt like they were an awkward intrusion into our home during the whole process. Extra care was also taken to leave each room vacuumed and furniture moved back into place. We will absolutely use GEM again!
