Like you, I looked up the reputation of this business on Google reviews before taking my PC in with them. The reviews looked great, a bunch of old, long term clients who love them. I thought that it their reviews looked a bit astroturfed but I still thought Id give them a shot. Im here to tell you KC computers will give you a great sales pitch, but the work they do is not impressive and the way they do it is not professional. I dealt with a young man with a goatee at the counter, and he seemed as if he couldnt care less about me doing business there. I got blank stares, and a bunch of "yeah, we can do that". Well as it turns out, they didnt really do anything but horrendously overcharge me for a "diagnostic" in which they didnt look at what I asked them to look at (or anything for that matter!!). Then when I asked to buy a component from them, they offered to sell it to me at a 200% mark up of its market value. Thats when I noticed these guys are no different than any of the thousands of other PC repair shops looking to bust you like a pinata and grab as much cash from you as possible. All of these "long term customers" are either unaware of the way KC conducts business or they just dont care and think Computers are some kind of rocket science and cant bare dealing with them. Im sure KC is decent for people who are relatively uninitiated in the world of PC repair, but for someone who wanted a very specific diagnostic run, and to find out they didnt do what I asked, it made me extremely upset. I will tell you to avoid, avoid, avoid KC Computers if you value your computer. They didnt even open the case of my computer to do the diagnostic I asked them to, then they turned around and charged me $40 bucks. Bad service experience, poor work, and not listening to the customer. I dont know what else I have to tell you, but stay away unless you want to be a frustrated and unsatisfied customer.

I came to KC Computer Repair practically in a fit of panic with my laptop, which I use extensively for my work, locked by a ransomware attack and with the data stored on the hard drive diagnosed as irretrievable by the previous repair shop from which I had tearfully brought it. But KC gave me a cautiously optimistic prognosis, and within 24 hours had called to tell me that they had, in fact, retrieved much of my data. When I opened up my computer to find that the files I really needed still were not there, they told me I could come back the following day (at no extra charge beyond the very fair price they had charged me for the work they had already done) to see if there was any more data that could be retrieved. And there was! Somehow, miraculously, they managed to recover all of the documents I needed for work! And to top it off, the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend KC Computer Repair!

Edit: Just got a call from them today about the issues that I had. This is quite possibly the best customer service that I have ever had. I will say, without a doubt, that if an issue comes up that i can not fix myself then I will certainly go to them. And for Kevin: thank you so much for you phone call I didnt even think that companies ever read these things. You sir are the best and you earned the 3 that you got. Techs were friendly and helpful, but their boss seemed a bit rude and would rather have had me out to the shop rather then browsing and possibly spending some money. They werent able to fix my issue and returned my external hard drive to me all torn apart, which i thought was weird. I managed to fix the issue myself by installing the drive into my computer since it was no more then a normal hard drive in a special case. I dont know if I would go back their, but I was out of ideas as to what to do at the time.

My brother just had KC computers restore Windows XP to his outdated laptop computer. My brother has no clue about computers but as an IT professional myself I cant believe they would even do it. I have been refusing to even answer peoples questions about their XP problems for the last year and a half because I knew Microsoft was ending security patches for XP. Why would anyone who knows better take money to restore XP? The advice should have been to buy a new computer. Shame on the people at KC Computer for charging $79 to do such a thing. Buyer beware of this place. I wish my brother had asked me first but KC should have nipped that one in the bud. This place does NOT have its customers best interest in mind. Boooooooooooooo.

I have had my computer fixed here before and my sytem happened to crash again due to the kids. My friend suggested a family member so I decided to try him. The guy called back saying my hard drive was ruined and there was no way to retrieve the data. I was horrified because my data was my life. I decided to still go give Kc a try since Ive been there before and he got it off in less than 30 minutes right in front of me. I was so appreciative words could not describe. I should have went there first anyway. Had I listened to the other guy I wouldnt have my data now. They were super nice as always and very helpful. This place gives great service and great customer service. They are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There should be 0 stars option. I wanted upgrade to new Windows 10 Pro. KCs illegally and improperly installed software from a refurbished machine to mine. This software was outdated and not compatible, nor did it function properly with my computer. Drivers did not work. They also did not save information from my system that I requested, and paid for. I contacted the owner twice, who was rude and hung up on me. Subsequently, have taken system to a reputable repair shop, to have legally licensed new software installed, system cleaned, and operating system repaired from KCs poor install. Do not take your computer to this business, if you want clean and proper upgrade.

They were very polite and respectful even though they had quite a few other customers that were there before me. They explained the problem in detail and fixed it with no problems. I was actually so impressed that I bought a used desk top instead of buying a new one. Ive been using that one for over 4 years with no problems. Now I will be visiting them again because my laptop has an issue and I know they will be able to fix it quick and at a reasonable price. Only problem is theyre closed on Sunday...my only day off. But, I will get it there because I know they provide great service in a timely fashion by respectful people.

I called this store and asked them for some help choosing a piece for upgrade on my computer and they didnt know how to answer it. I basically I asked: Which one of these two is better, and what is the major difference between these two pieces if I were going to upgrade? Couldnt get a straight answer out of them for the life of me! They just simply didnt know! I wont be providing them with any business, and I highly recommend not taking your stuff here to get worked on.
