I dont normally write reviews on here, but the hair cutting experience I had today pushed me over the edge to write about my experience. I was getting the simplest haircut you could get, straight across and 5" off, but this was 2 weeks before my wedding and I was looking forward to the "pampered" feel that I normally get when getting my hair cut (I normally get it cut at SuperCuts or some place that is similarly-priced as this place, so I dont think my expectations were unreasonable or unfounded). But my experience was probably the worse Ive ever had for getting my hair cut. Cold, and at times very cold, water was used to wash my hair (why?!), and the guy washing my hair dug into my scalp so hard during the shampoo that it seemed like he was going to give me a headache. Later in his chair the manager or another employee came by and they carried on a short conversation from which I gathered that my hair-cutter was taking this other guys shift to gain more experience: right there I knew my intuitive fears about this guy were well-founded...sounds like he is right out of beauty school or something (surely you have to go to school for this to work in a salon?!). And then when he cuts my hair he does it so bizarrely and nonchalantly that I was scared for my hair and very annoyed because it was all so unprofessional. He would comb a small section of my hair at a time, cut it, then move on and do that to the rest of my hair. And often I could tell he wouldnt even get a whole section combed out before he cut it! Then at the end I could tell that he cut the front to be shorter than the back even though I had asked for a straight cut all around, but at that point the front was already shorter than I had wanted, so I just wanted him to leave it alone. Then I waited a few minutes for the cash register to open because a lady was talking on her cell phone in a barber chair and hadnt paid yet, and then when I did pay instead of the $18 I expected to pay they charged me $25 since I had long hair. I wish they would have told me that it would be extra for long hair to begin with: I probably wouldve walked out right away. So, luckily my hair is okay and I guess thats the major takeaway of getting a haircut, but the experience was miserable rather than enjoyable and I felt like I got almost blindsided into paying more money than I had originally expected to pay. Im sure the employees there are hit or miss for experience level, but I personally will never be going back to get my hair cut at a Fantastic Sams again if I can help it. Also, behind the counter I saw things like weekly sales goal of $5000 and a calendar with the product they were pushing for the month, etc. Ive worked in customer service before so I understand that managers do these things, but they should keep these things out of the view of the customers. And seeing those combined with my whole experience and being charged extra for my cut when I had a horrible experience just left an even worse taste in my mouth.

Im not sure why there are SO many bad reviews on Yelp. I called for a late appointment because I work 8 am to 5 pm and they set me up for one THAT night at 6. I went in with long dead damaged and colorless hair after not getting my hair done for 3 years and they took the absolute BEST care of me. I showed her a picture, she matched it EXACTLY. I told her I just wanted to chop off an inch, and she showed me how dead the bottom 4 inches were and layered my hair to look really pretty after taking some length off. I am a single mom and had to bring my 2 year old daughter with me. They gave her a cute little hair cut for $10! AND they even helped me distract her so I could finish up my cut and color. I am giving a HUGE shout out and thanks to my stylist (whom I will be returning to) Ashley, and the two sweet women who worked on and took care of my little one Cham(I believe was her name) and Kim!!! This place is amazing!!! I do NOT recommend bringing in little ones if you are alone without help, but for a single mom like me they took GREAT care of us AND for a REALLY good price. I paid 140 for my color, cut layer, childs haircut AND 2 bottles of color care shampoo/conditioner. These ladies work hard to cater to your needs so ALWAYS remember to tip!!

Took my boyfriend in to get a haircut. Simple enough; he wanted an undercut with a fade. Long on top, graduating to a bit shorter in the back. When he made the appointment, he asked for the stylist with the most experience in what he was looking for, so he was scheduled with an older asian lady (didnt even catch her name, but shes the only one that fits that description). What resulted was a completely uneven undercut, no fade at all, with it being a full 2 inches longer on one side, and a full 5 INCHES shorter in the back. He knew she messed up when she laughed and was like, "Well, you can just style it this way and itll look good." When he expressed disappointment, she look dumbfounded. I paid, and she looked utterly confused when I didnt leave her a tip. MORAL OF THE STORY: This woman CANNOT be trusted with even the simplest of haircuts. Seriously, he wanted the haircut literally EVERY 20 something guy has right now, and gave him an uneven nightmare. Id post a picture, but he already feels bad enough that he has to live with this monstrosity on his head for the next few hours. Thank God it was only 16 dollars.

Ive been hesitant to let anyone touch my hair color for years. However, I decided to take a leap of faith and made an appointment at Fantastic Sams to get lowlights. I got there and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. Alexes was the one that took care of me, and she did an EXCELLENT job! I didnt know what color treatment I needed in order to look like the pictures I brought with me. Alexes was able to identify that I was asking for a balayage, not just average lowlights. She blended it all so well and it looks very natural. I wish I knew how to post pics on here so I could show the before and after. I highly recommend!!

This particular Fantastic Sams has the best staff, in terms of service and personality, great products (that they tell you honestly if you do or do not need) and a great atmosphere. The staffs cutting and coloring skills and expertise far surpass that of all higher end shops that Ive been to. I know people who drive 45 minutes just to come to this particular shop (not just for one particular stylist). I refuse to get my haircut anywhere. And no, I do not work for, nor am I paid by Fantastic Sams for this endorsement. (Although that would be tite)

If youre going to get your haircut here do not let Kim do the cutting. My hair came out looking bad and uneven. There were long hairs left around my ears that I had to cut myself, and she also took it upon herself to cut my sideburns instead of letting them fade into my beard. She would not let me style my hair the way I like while I was in the store. Because of this I could not tell if I was happy with my hair until I got home. The other stylist may be great, but I would not trust a place that hires people that are so unskilled.
