Horrible. Horrible horrible experience. I almost never write reviews for anything But I will take the time to explain my experience because it was profoundly unprofessional, waste of time including no resolution to my initial reason for bringing the car in, and costly. Air conditioning was blowing hot air prior to bringing it in, Kevin told me I needed everything replaced the whole Ac system and cost me 2 grand. And could just replace compressor for 1200 but Id probably continue having problems. Had to take car to dealership for coolant valve leaking only a few weeks later (unrelated). and also stuck thermometer down vent. Blowing 70 , not good in 90+ degree weather; spec is 40 degrees. Especially for 2 grand this is completely unacceptable. Took it to stassney location because Lamar was supposedly so backed up indeterminantly where Will took it on and said to drop it off early after making him aware of the situation. Kudos for this quick turnaround BUT It sat in the lot until end of day where next day they told me it was an oil leaking compressor and to take the car back the next day on a Saturday because part wouldnt come in until Monday and couldnt squeeze me in until Wednesdaya. Monday came, part didnt arrive, Will anxiously redirected me to south Lamar location to fix the issue, said the repair guys would be getting stiffed on the job at his location like bits of saltine crackers in a ramen soup -- what? How is that my problem for a re repair how employees get compensated? Also back pedaled and said he took on the inspection to do me a solid and really didnt have to and I asked why we were regressing when he already agreed to it --- to clarify Aamco policy is bring car to same location unless there arent any others within a 50 mile range or something. But same owner at stassney and south Lamar supposedly so they allowed it. Will, though well intentioned, was unprofessional telling me a black car in Texas may be culprit to lack of cold Ac--with a straight face, when Ive had cold Ac in my black car historically. What are you talking about? He also was always thinking out loud about how squeezing me in an appointment is a balance of how many customers will be pissed for delays vs my needs being addressed. Brought car back to south Lamar where Kevin was always curt with me over the phone. Returned car to me same day, and said it was now "blowing icicles." Hyberbole if ever Ive heard it. Still blowing air warm enough Im sweating in my car on the 10 minute commute to work in a sleeveless button down. I insisted several days ago that the regional manager call me because they dont provide that number and I asked when I would hear from him/her and Kevin told me he had no idea sternly and hung up the phone. I assumed Aamco would be a safe bet given their national reputation. This was also my first experience with them. This may be limited to the Austin locations, but NEVER again. NEVER. Also Kevin when telling me the car would be ready soon was trying to up sell me to get an oil change while my car was getting the re-Repair for 95 dollars estimated. What audacity.

Where to start...well I will say DO NOT BRING ANY VEHICLE HERE! First time I brought my 05 Mazda in i had a cooling sensor replaced. Should not be a big deal. When the car was done a few hours and 400$ later I drive off and hear something clanking in my engine compartment. I turned around and asked the mechanic to please take a look. He got attitude with me and defensive but when he opened the hood we found his tools that he left behind! Well that was last year and i needed to get my struts done this year so I decided to try them again. I brought it in they offer to do a split payment plan half now half in 2 weeks. I agreed on the condition I had to be out of there by 2 to go to work. The manager said it would be no problem. My son and I went walking and to lunch and we came back around 1:15 and the manager said oh we were having trouble getting the parts but they are on their way now. We will still have it done in time he says.. YEAH RIGHT! At 2:45 I got the keys back. My son and I get in the car and start heading home. HOLY CRAP it feels as though the car is about to fall apart it shook so bad! I drive it back and tell them i want one of them to come tell me if they really think this is safe to drive away and how in the hell did they miss this? Do they not test run it before giving it back to the customers??? A different mechanic got in and as soon as we pulled out he says NO NO turn around this is not right somethings loose or not put in right!!!! Well they come tell me that its the bearings...doubt it but ok says they will fix for free(should have been a hint that they did something wrong) so they ask me to leave my car over night so that they can fix it first thing in the morning. This is my only transportation by the way. So I catch a ride and by mid day still hadnt heard from AAMCO. About 4pm I get a call saying they cant find the replacement spindle for my car but they are working hard to get it taken care of...BUT WAIT i thought they said bearings!! haha yeah thats when I learned it never was the bearings they busted up the spindle somehow and now frantic trying to replace it. The manager Bobby says well the other side is worn if you want we can replace that one while we are in there for cost and no labor charge. Screw it at this point go ahead!. Friday now and still no car. At 5 pm I finally tell them have my car done or give money back because i need a rental!!! Funny about 1 hour later the car was done! Remember that payment plan? I called them prior and told them not to deposit im coming in with a credit card to pay balance.. 2 days before the due date they already deposited the check and over drafted my checking account. I called the manager and he said let me see what I can do and that was on wed...still nothing back from them! DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!

I went to AAMCO to have the suspension on my Lincoln Navigator looked at. It has the luxury air suspension with 4 airbags and a compressor. I called to make sure that the estimate was free and James said it was but he didnt ask me what type of car I had and I didnt mention it. When I got there, he mentioned that he has fixed several of these types of suspensions and that the price would run between $800-$5,000, OUCH! I let him know that I would not repair it if the entire system had to be replaced, I would just trade the car in. He then said that he would have to keep it over night and that his technician would not want to spend that much time on it for free. (Whats a free estimate, if its not free?!?!?!) He then said that I would have to give the technician about $100 or more to look at it. I couldnt believe it! He mentions that as soon as I said I wouldnt repair it if its the whole system! I told him that I would take it to Sears instead and he started to trash the Sears mechanics. I left, feeling taken advantage of even though I had not spent any money. I went to the Sears Auto Center at Barton Creek Mall. At first they said that they could not work on an air suspension system. The head mechanic Dale said he would try to see what the problem was for free or that I might be able to switch the system over to regular shocks. In less than one hour he fixed it! It was a $5.00 O-Ring. 5 bucks, can you believe that!
