FoodHeads rules. I love the atmosphere - a converted house tucked away on 34th street that feels like it was born to be the perfect neighborhood lunch spot (it reminds me of Gs Deli down south or Little Deli a bit further north in that way). Im basically addicted to the chicken and eggplant sandwich, which comes with goat cheese, basil pesto, tomatoes, spinach, and a vinaigrette dressing on multigrain bread, and is so gigantic that its easily 2 meals. Its $9 and worth every penny. I also recommend the tuna nicoise or pastrami sandwiches, but you should try them first, since after you get the chicken and eggplant youll probably never get anything else. Their side soups are also excellent, and I enjoy the potato salad too. One of these days Im going to pretend my favorite order doesnt exist and try the fish torta, or maybe get here in time for breakfast tacos. Parking can be a drag, but its unimpeachable in every other respect. Try walking or biking like a true Austinite!

Having had their catered foods a few times during several formal events on campus, I visited the restaurant for a Saturday lunch. Parking is a little complicated with signs pointing you into a backlot plastered with towing notices from the surrounding businesses. Its probably easier to just park on one of the side streets and walk over. The atmosphere inside is really homely and the plastic drink cups almost remind you of being in someones kitchen or backyard. I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich (Bellas & Bleu Cheese) for $7.95 and then waited for over 20 minutes to get my food. The sandwich was delicious, especially the balsamic vinaigrette soaked into the bread. Unfortunately I felt like it was a little over-priced given how much food I got, especially with Fricanos Deli mere minutes away. If you want a solid vegetarian sandwich selection, then definitely check out FoodHeads. Otherwise youd be better off going somewhere else.

Setting the scene: Holiday Party at the VeePees house just south of the Pennybacker. I need catering perfection with no screwing around. Chip and his extremely capable assistant delivered nothing less. The dining table was a masterpiece of beautifully arranged Devils on Horseback" morsels awaiting to be devoured because of their date, goat cheese and prosciutto deliciousness! And when sliced open, steam rose from the golden crusted brie. The Pulled Pork was moist and with the tangy slaw made the perfect slider. Everything from the spicy pork sausage stuffed mushrooms to the smoked salmon was absolutely devine. Definitely go with the Coconut Cupcakes for dessert. There were many kudos for the chef and the VeePee let me keep my job for another day. All is well in Whoville.

If youre looking for a dangerously delicious sandwich, this is your place. I must admit, I havent experimented much with their menu, but thats because the two sandwiches I have gotten seem unbeatable (Apple Pork and Gypsy Grove). I cant decide which is better, but whichever one it is, I cant think of a time Ive had a better sandwich. Understandably, its just under $10 for a sandwich. I think its worth it once in a while when you want an exceptional sandwich. Seating is eclectic: wooden chairs and tables inside, picnic tables and lawn chairs outside. Theres some parking in the back, but otherwise just find street parking. Overall, this is one of my favorite sandwich places in Austin. Actually, let me just go ahead and say its my favorite.

I read all these reviews and thought.....hmmm..... This looks great! Boy was I wrong, this place is just ok. I ordered the beef and brie, and my wife ordered the chicken tortilla soup. Both of them were bland. The soup was ok, but the sandwich was not good at all. The brie was cheap, the bread was cheap, the beef was tasteless, and spinach was GOOD! So when I go to a place that is highly reviewed, cost an arm and a leg for a sandwich and a bowl of soup, it needs to have some pop. Not be "just ok". If you want a good brie sandwhich then go down the street to the galaxy cafe, it blows this place out of the water. (also they do not have high chairs, and my daughter had to sit on a regular chair..... which is not possible for a 1 1/2 yr old.)

Almost every single item on the menu is good. Almost every person i know doesnt know about this place. I have no idea how this correllation exists but Ive been turning people onto this place for years. Given the parking situation isnt ideal and the location is slightly hard to find, the former home is cozy and beautiful. I personally love the chicken and eggplant but every single one Ive tried is better than 90% of the sandwiches around town. Maybe its a little too "gourmet" or maybe its out of the way for some people but if any place deserves a small line out the door, this place does. Ps. the chocalate chip cookies are my favorite of any place.

A great sandwich shop tucked away just north of UT. The ingredients are always fresh, service always friendly, and the environment is great for relaxing. Plus they are dog friendly! Their apple pork sandwich (Grilled pork tenderloin on toasted bolillo with smoked gouda cheese, fresh spinach, spicy apple & tomato pico and honey dijon aioli.) and chicken/eggplant (Grilled chicken breast & roasted eggplant on toasted multigrain bread with goat cheese, basil pesto, spinach, tomato, & blackberry balsamic vinaigrette..) are my favorites!

The food here is fantastic - the design of the sandwiches is complicated and layered. If you let it linger, youll taste even more. The ambiance is laid back with various types of wooden tables inside an early to mid 20th century home. Relaxed place to sit and chat for a bit, though it does seem busy. The service was wonderful as well. I dont generally think to say that because it is counter service, but they went out of their way to mention choices for my kids. Id definitely recommend this place and Ill be coming back.

Great place to stop for lunch on a nice day. Beautiful outdoor seating area with succulents, fans, and cute tablecloths (the indoor seating is very nice too--just limited) Dog friendly and excellent service. The food and drink selection is great too. All the sandwiches they offer are made with fresh, local ingredients and they hand make a lot of their sides. I got the BLT&A and was very happy. Parking is a little tough sometimes but they do offer parking around back. Definitely worth checking out!

I love this place and always take my out of town friends here for lunch. All of the sandwiches Ive tried have been delectable and the cucumber salad is so tasty. The quality is great and the atmosphere is even better. I also love the variety of iced teas and lemonade they have. Its one of my favorite things about going there! Also, they have a lot of vegetarian friendly options that dont leave you wanted more. All I have to say is: Go now, you wont regret it!

Fun, cozy atmosphere in a converted house. Mismatched furniture somehow fits together nicely. The food is really good and really unique. Some restaurants offer a variation on something you can get somewhere else. FoodHeads, on the other hand, offers foods that I havent seen before, in addition to some spins on more familiar dishes. Everything feels fresh and homemade. The fresh lemonade was the best Ive ever had. The staff was really friendly.

Best sandwiches in town! The egg salad with prosciutto, as well as the vegetarian are my favorite. A friend of mine swears by the apple pork sandwich. Their soups are also fabulous. I have eaten the pumpkin and butternut squash soup–both were wonderful. If you are unfamiliar with the layout of Food Heads, the restaurant has been retrofitted into a house, so overall look and feel is southern country chic. Their tea menu is also fabulous.
