I had always wanted to do something a little different with my hair and was always told by family, friends, and stylists that it was in my best interest to leave it be. My hair is naturally an auburn color and has been for 26 years. I came to Shag by referral and instantly felt comfortable when I saw the amazing décor, especially the unicorn, and welcoming, friendly staff. I explained what I wanted to do with my hair to Hayley and as opposed to the raised eyebrow, or head shaking I would get previously she beamed with excitement and told me how she could personalize the look for me. I felt at ease and excited for the change. I sipped wine and waited for the color to set and before I knew it the new look was revealed to me, a beautiful ombre transition that was well above my expectations. It was the perfect balance of my natural color and a fun new look I had been so desperately wanting. Hayley is a true artist and Im so happy I found a salon I can call home.

I am tired of going to a salon that gets glowing reviews and then getting the shaft. I tend to assume that if it is a great salon, then I can trust it to go to any stylist. This is not so at Shag. It was my first time just yesterday and after explaining one of the reasons I left my last stylist, I basically had her do the same thing to me. When you pay $50+-you expect at least 30 minutes of their precious time. I got into the chair at 4:35 or so and was paying by 5. I couldve overlooked this had the cut rocked my world...it didnt. I am an artist and have actually cut others hair in the past...I feel like I could have done a better, edgier cut myself:( I feel terrible giving her name (Nicole) but I wouldnt want anyone else at the salon to be affected. I gave her a handsome tip because I am both nice and spineless like that, but I will not be getting another haircut from her:|

I spoke with Thaer over the phone about an open position at the salon and we set up an interview for the following morning. I received a text at 11:00 pm asking to reschedule for another day because he was sick. I called to try and reschedule but never heard back... three times. I think it is incredibly rude and unprofessional to set up an interview only to blow it off and ignore calls and texts. If this is the way that they treat prospective employees Id hate to see the way they treat their clients.

Ive been going to Shag Salon since I moved to Austin in 2014 and started getting my haircuts from Hayley when she purchased the salon. I used to not care where I got my haircuts but now I schedule my travel around making sure Im home to get my cut by Hayley in. The free cleanups in between cuts and essential oil hot towel wraps are awesome! Hayley is fast, efficient and consistent with her work - I would highly suggest her to anyone in the Austin area!

Outstanding. Fun, professional, and inched me a bit forward in terms of style. And I needed that nudge. My appointment started on time and I was not rushed. It was quite obvious that the hairstylists all care about their craft and enjoy making people walk out the door feeling more confident than when they walked in. Hayley Groll cut my hair and she is the owner, but the whole place had an energy and passion that I found cool.

Im lovin Nicole at Shag! I am not big on spending money on getting my hair cut. I tend to neglect my hair and get a trim or cut once a year or so...My mom set up an appointment for me with Nicole. I adore this girl! She really listened to what kind of style I was looking for and really took time to see how my hair would behave. I absolutely LOVE my new do! Hooked on Nicole at Shag Salon!

I just want to say that I absolutely love Jessica. I had moved here from Atlanta over 2 yrs ago and was extremely scared to go to a new hair stylist especially because I had been with the last one for over 8 years. It only took me one appointment with Jessica to know that I had found out that she was the one for me. She is so talented at what she does. Thank you Jessica

I called in and made an appointment to get a basic guys haircut. Angela cut my hair and did a great job. Price was $40 + tip (a little higher than Id like to pay for a mens haircut). Great place, everything was easy. And because its basically walking distance from my place, no complaints! Id recommend it again.

Brooke Ellington is the absolute best. Ive been going to her for many years, and love the work she does both for myself and my female friends who also go to her. She puts a huge amount of care into cuts to ensure that you look good when you come out the other side. Fantastic human to boot.

Ok, im the type of guy who gets a hair cut when his hair is really long and nasty... Or sometimes, i just shave it all off! I went to Shag after my fiancee recommended it and i must say, Brian rocked it! I will be coming back to Shag for more. For sure! Give them a try folks!

Love this funky salon! I followed my hairstylist here from another salon and it is very nice. Laura is an artist and I highly recommend her. I barely have to tell her what I want she just does her thing and I always come out happy!
