Alright time for another great review of Suddenlink. (although I think "randomlink" would be a better name). bought 107mb/s internet from them 12/2013. They came out and installed it no problem. Then we started having some cut outs and the speed was no where near right. I called them and they said theyre wireless router wasnt designed to handle the 107 speed. (then why the hell would they have given it to me in the first place?) So I had to take it to the suddenlink office and get a non-wireless one. Then I had to go spend more money on a wireless router. The next 11 months were filled with constant cut outs, and the speed was never once 107mb/s. They had 2 or 3 tech coming out to our place trying to fix it, but they eventually said that the lines in the link into the apartments was bad and it was going to take a long time to fix. I was moving soon so whatever. I called them to tell them I needed to transfer my services to my new address in november and I was also interested in trying out their t.v. service. (I should also mention that they send me 2-3 letters a week trying to get me to purchase phone and t.v., often with completely different pricing...) The lady on the phone told me it would be $56 for the transfer and $40 a month for the 200 channel t.v. service and that was fine. We got to the new place and they installed the T.V. service. Out of the "200" channels (there were only 164 accessible channels) 30 of them were Spanish channels, and 10 of them were just HD versions of channels 1-10. So really I got 124 channels. I called them back and canceled the T.V., they said alright, that should have been the end. A little later in the month they charged me $122. for my internet, which used to be $90 a month, but I figured it was just for the couple days I had the t.v. service. Then a couple days later they drafted $356.00 from my bank account. Over-drafted my account and made me late on 4 other payments... Called them and talked to someone who barely spoke English. They couldnt explain to me what the charges were, but I had a $270.00 credit and that they could mail me a check in 2-3 weeks. TWO TO THREE WEEKS ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She swore up and down that there was no way they could debit it back into my account. So I call my bank and tell them what happened. They said it would take 10 days to investigate it, but if they found the charges to be in error they would refund the overdraft fees so that was good. I call Suddenlink back to try and get a better explanation of the charges and the guy says "oh, well thats no problem, we can just put in a refund request to debit it back to your account." so the first lady had no idea what she was talking about I guess. Anyway the guy calls me back a couple hours later to say the refund couldnt be processed, I need to bring my bank statement showing the charge into the office. I work every day 6am-5pm. Their office is open 8am-5pm. So I had to take time off work to go to the stupid sudden link office. I got there and waited in line for about 30 minutes. I explained everything to the lady at the counter and showed her my bank statement. She said she would reverse all the charges. GREAT! FINALLY! A couple days go by, the charges are reversed and now I can pay the rest of my bills. Then today, they call me saying I have to make a payment of $156 or my service will be shut off. I call the billing department and ask them whats going on. The guy says they charged me $70 for 15mb/s internet on top of my 107mb internet and then the $56 transfer fee. He said he will work on it and call me back. Well see what happens, but Im guessing Im not gonna have Suddenlink next month. The worst part is, if I decide to go with any other provider, theyre going to pull the same crap. Please google fiber lords, save me from this nightmare.

Canceled service. Was told I would receive a credit in the mail. Returned equipment at their office in the electronics bin outside which I was told by the receptionist to drop the equipment in. A month later received a bill for $30 with no statement or explanation of the charge. Called their call center. Was transferred four times. I was told I was being charged for failure to return equipment. I explained myself. The man said he would put in an e-mail to my local office and try to resolve the dispute. I was told to call back if I dont hear anything within a week. That being said, I moved to an area serviced by Comcast and received 6x greater speeds for 50% of the price I was paying Suddenlink. I had been a victim of Suddenlinks terrible service for nearly a decade. Their new data caps are laughable. We received notices for exceeding the cap just from light Netflix streaming (I am NOT exaggerating, I did not torrent, I did not perform data intensive activities whatsoever). Say what you will about Comcast, but my new service does not have a cap at all and I have had zero issues thus far. I cannot describe how happy I am to finally be free of Suddenlinks monopoly. Suddenlink is, by an extreme margin, the worst ISP I have ever had the displeasure of being forced to use. UPDATE: I called back. The woman on the line had no idea about my issue (it wasnt even noted in my account) and I had to explain everything over again. Last time I spoke with Suddenlink, they told me that they were escalating my dispute to a higher department and would be in touch with me. I never heard back from them and I just received a COLLECTIONS NOTICE FOR $40. FORTY DOLLARS. If they would have told me that I was SOL, I would have just PAID them. Instead they make me think theyre resolving the issue and then hit me with a collections notice, which I can only imagine is already on my credit file. Thanks Suddenlink.

The only reason I use Suddenlink is because the only other alternative in Conroe is Consolidated, which is the only thing worse than Suddenlink. Ive used it at home for about three years. In April, I decided to use it for my business, a sole proprietorship. They needed to run my credit report despite the fact that my payments are autodrafted so I had 3+ years of 100% on-time payment history. Nevertheless, I agreed. This month, two months later, I needed the business service moved to a new location and residential service started at the space we were moving from. TWO more hits to my credit! No amount of arguing could convince them that it was not necessary to hit my credit twice on the same day, especially since one work order was simply transferring service to a new location and they had just run my credit two months ago! Apparently the business side cant communicate with the residential side... and they are considered a communications company? To make matters worse, they didnt show up at the "old" location on Thursday as they promised. When we called on Friday, they said they would be out on Sunday. I must admit I was a little impressed that they work on the weekends. ...until they showed up. They arrived within the two hour window promised but didnt have a modem needed to complete the job. At 1:00, the tech left to go get one. My location is about 2 miles from their office on North Loop 336. Although I waited for him until 5, he never returned and never called so I have been without internet for DAYS! Customer Service is closed on weekends and the "Installation Customer Service" line is unable to contact the techs in the field. The only other alternative is Consolidated and Suddenlink recognizes this, which results in horrible customer service.
