Needing an oil change, and an inspection, I called City Garage, to ask if an appointment was needed. They advised that I did not need an appointment; however, the gentleman that performed inspections was not in that day. I needed at least the inspection done sooner than later, though, so they recommended another place nearby that provided this service as well. I appreciate this type of customer service a great deal, and because of the number of wonderful reviews on Google, I determined that I would save the oil change for another day, and visit City Garage then. To my dismay, when I drove up to City Garage, yesterday, it was difficult to determine where to pull in. A couple of cars were haphazardly pulled to the side of the establishment, beside what appeared to be their front office, and two or three more more were parked behind the building (again, in no established parking zone). I did see a few gentlemen standing around a desk and monitor, inside, and waited for them to finish their task. A few minutes later, it became evident that they were clearly watching television, or some other form of entertainment (as they were pointing and laughing at the loud commotion on the screen), while it did not appear that any work was going on in either the open, or occupied, bays. I had nearly decided to walk up and get their attention, when another technician came over to the group, and noticed me parked behind the building. Upon arriving at my vehicle, he asked me how he could help, and I explained that I was in need of an oil change. I was directed to park my vehicle in front of the building, and go into what was indeed their front office, where I would be taken care of. When I asked him for a turn-around time, I was given an estimate of forty-five minutes. Now, I will be the first to admit that I am not aware of all that goes on in a garage, nor do I know what any of the lounging mechanics might have been waiting on, but my perception of the situation was that they had some free time on their hands (they were still gathered about the television, at this point), and were not in any hurry to complete their tasks. Because of this perception, I did not feel that I, as a prospective customer, was a priority. After a moments consideration, I looked up other area service providers, and paid for a quality oil change elsewhere. By the way, said oil change did not take forty-five minutes. I will not be coming back to this location, or recommending it to those in need of efficient service.

Ive had decent service here on two different vehicles, but they werent willing to quote my 15,000-mile service that their system automatically sent an email reminder for, advising they were a little tied up. Didnt care who I was or that Id relied on them loyally when Ive been living in the DFW area. Spoke with the manager, Josh, who offered me my 15,000-mile service complimentary to possibly change my mind for this review and where I take my car. I came in for the service and it was okay, no real issues, but he didnt thank me for coming in or for giving the place another chance, and he definitely didnt seem glad to see me. Ill probably be back if I dont find something closer to home, as this is over 20 miles away and I just dont feel like they care as much as they used to. I still want to see them turn it around and succeed. EDIT: I definitely wont be back until theres new management. Josh called me three times in a row, and I kept declining the call because I was in the library. He didnt leave a voicemail, which after three calls seemed appropriate to do at least. I called back later because I was really perturbed further, and he clearly just wanted my review fixed to his liking. He said I wasnt grateful (I said thank you and smiled as I left) and he said that he thought wed talk a little but I just left (he wasnt trying to converse, the whole situation was awkward, and I the customer should not be the one to engage the business manager in conversation). So frustrating, and I will not be back. If I ever need records of service, my husband said hed gladly take care of it so I could avoid them after that horrible phone call. Such a shame! If you personally do not care at ALL about the customer service aspect, you will have good work done here if my many prior visits have been any indication. But if you expect customer service, it is really hard to come by these days, as many of us consumers know.

My wife and I are fairly new to the area having moved from CA. Due to not knowing any mechanics in the area I had brought my car to the dealership to get it checked out. The dealership provided me with a long list of things that needed to be repaired and handed me an estimate of $3000. My wife called around and spoke with Jay at this location. He told her that instead of hearing everything the dealership had listed he would prefer we bring the vehicle in for a second opinion at no cost to us. The service here was friendly and professional. I came back later in the day to pick up my vehicle and some of what the dealership had quoted me was confirmed however the estimate to repair everything was only $1500. They also let me know that there were some things that the dealership had advised me needed to be replaced that were still in good working order. There were other things that I was told by the dealership that were an immediate need that upon getting a second opinion here I was informed that there was not an immediate need for those parts. I appreciate being able to find an honest and friendly auto shop so close to home.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! What a rip off!! I did a complete brake repair on my daughters car- new brake shoes, brake pads, rotors, brake shoes. My daughter complained that her brakes still made a noise. I went to City Garage Coppell and paid $30 for a brake inspection. I received a phone call 2 hours later. They said the technician drove the car, confirmed the noise, then said I needed everything replaced that I had just installed the day before. When I told them I had just replaced everything, their response was "you didnt tell us that". They said "well, we should at least turn the rotors". I asked how much? They said $150 for the pair. I told them I paid less than $40 for the pair (brand new) at NAPA, so why would I pay $150 to have them turned, especially since they were only 2 days old? What a rip off. These guys give car mechanics a bad name. They recommend repairs you dont need and overcharge. They are completely unethical. So glad my dad taught me a few things about car repair. Had I been an uneducated customer, I would have walked out with a $600 repair. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! David Owens, Coppell, Texas

My wifes maintenance has been performed three times at this facility and we never had any issues until this week. The car was dropped off on Wed morning for routine scheduled maintenance and a "check engine light". Routine maintenance was performed and rear brakes were worn, so new brakes were put on the vehicle. We returned to pick the vehicle up at closing and upon starting the vehicle, the check engine light was still on. They said they found the problem and it was an easy fix (loose gas cap). I told my wife to drive it to work the next day to see if the light would reset, and while I was on the phone with my wife, City Garage called to tell me the light would stay on because they failed to install a part. My wife took the vehicle back the next day and while explaining who she was and why she was there, one of the employees grabbed the keys from her hand and stormed off. I arrived a few minutes later and she told me what happened and pointed to the employee. I asked another employee what the guys name was and he stated the guys name was Art. Well go elsewhere from now on.
