I would feel remiss if I did not take a few minutes to comment on my wonderful experience with Benjamin Franklin-Dallas! They truly saved the day for me regarding a clogged drain that had sewage coming up into my bathtub!! I was frantic about the clog, of course, but I was also apprehensive about the fact that I didnt know enough about plumbing, etc., to negotiate a fair quote. Consequently, I knew this could mean I would be at the mercy of any dishonest professionals. However, from the first phone call, when David Ray, a service pro at Benjamin Franklin, reached out to me to let me know he was on his way, (and right on time) I felt at ease. After our first correspondence via phone, I knew I was dealing with someone who would be fair. He was very professional and patient and seemed to understand that I was very nervous and needed everything to be explained. Once he arrived, he immediately assessed the situation, quoted me a better rate than I had anticipated and went over what he was going to do and then went right to it! After only 20 minutes he had everything working again!! David went a step further and educated me on how to avoid getting in this situation again and then he gave me a chemical, free of charge, that should also assist I not wind up in this predicament, again! (Wow!! What??) After all this I asked him to please wait while I run my washing machine on the rinse cycle and flush the toilet a couple three times, more. I was worried that if I did this extra "check" it might prove the drain was still clogged up and even though we had already done a shower and toilet check! But, David said he was happy to wait while the rinse cycle ran its course, and that he wanted for me to be sure; he understood what I was looking for. Of course, as it turned out, everything was working and as he said it would!;) I highly reccomend Banjamin Franklin-Dallas to anyone who finds themselves with a serious plumbing problem and if ever Im in a pickle again, I will call them and ask for David Ray! We had somehow gotten a perfume bottle flushed, and stuck, inside our toilet. Tony from Benjamin Franklin-The Punctual Plumber, came out to help. After assessing the bizarre situation and working on it a bit with no luck, he decided to take the toilet up off the floor to try to go at it from both openings. The glass bottle had apparently gotten into the hardest part of the toilet to reach. He tried everything he knew to do. Again, no luck. I was starting to lose heart, and I think he was, too. I had these new toilets installed last March. Now, it seemed possible that I was going to have to replace one, once again. He decided to call co-workers, to get their ideas on how/if to proceed. Everything they mentioned - already done (more than once, too!). He came back in determined to work on it some more, even knowing that he had done everything anyone else in his position would have. He decided to carry that heavy toilet outside to patio for a different angle/more leverage with his tools. He put his own coveralls down underneath to make sure my new toilet didnt get scratched. He worked and worked and worked until he broke that thick glass perfume bottle, and saved me from having to do any costly replacements. I KNOW that there arent many who would have gone the extra mile (or two or three) that Tony did to help us out in this situation. We have a lot of hospital/medical bills right now, budget is stretched to limits, and his dedication to his profession and integrity were an answer to prayer. He never gave up! There arent that many folks out there who work THAT HARD. People tend to generally give up at some point. Tony never did. AND he was nice. AND he was funny. People who love their jobs and work this hard arent easy to come by, and we feel so blessed to have had him be the one to come to our home. Tony: we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing: I can tell you have VERY high standards for hiring, and I cannot thank you enough.

I called Ben Franklin Plumbing because I received a postcard waiving their service call. David R. came out and experienced a very unique problem. The stopped up garage sink appears to be from a plant growing in the bottom of the stack. We suspect the plant to be a very hard wood since none of the customary plumbing tools are able to extract it. He tried to get at it from three angles and it wouldnt budge. Did I mention it was 98 degrees outside? He was determined to fix the problem and not once was he ready to give up. Hopefully, as soon as I can find a mason we can get at those tough roots through the wall and fix the drain problem. Part 2: Problem solved! David R. was amazing! He not only cleared the clog. It turned out to be a cluster of pecans with roots and no telling how many years of debri stuck in a section of pipe connected to the stack. He spent two days trying every angle to get at the clog and finally had to remove the section of pipe. He put it all back as good as new and even made a screen cap for the stack so it wouldnt occur again. The brick mason was also impressed with Davids work and complemented him. David replied that "He fixes things as if it were his own home."

There was a shut-off valve leaking on a toilet. Jeff came to the house within the time window allotted. I had another appointment and my wife was there to let him in. When I returned, he had done a great job of removing the old valve and replacing it with a new one as well as a new connector tube from the valve to the tank (total parts cost about $25). He cleaned up the area nicely after finishing. The reason I can not give 5-stars is that I feel the charge was too much. The old connector valve was soldered on, so it had to be cut off. The new valve was put on with a compression nut; however, when I looked at the invoice, I was charged for installing a soldered valve, $223, instead of the compression nut fitting which would have been $117. The job took approximately 1 hour to perform, he wrote on the invoice the arrival time of 0905 and my wife said he had left by 1015. I do want to emphasize that the work that Jeff did was exemplary, but I do have the sense that I was overcharged. Perhaps this could have been explained to me and straightened out if I had been able to be at home. No explanation was offered to my wife.

We had an emergency situation with a 50 gallon tank-type water heater in our second floor attic which had failed and was leaking. The weather was terrible and roads were icy; traffic was slow. James Barker, our Ben Franklin plumber, called ahead to alert us that he was on his way. When he arrived he analyzed the situation, explained everything to us in detail, organized the delivery of a new unit and parts, replaced the old unit and got the new one into service. He and his assistant were polite and helpful throughout the visit. They were careful to avoid damaging any fixtures or furnishings while removing the old unit and replacing it with the new in our second floor attic (a delicate operation). Throughout the procedure James was informative about what he was doing and how the system would work. This was thoroughly professional service and very helpful. Not only did James obviously know what he was doing, but he was also able to keep a potentially very worrying emergency situation under control and reduce our anxiety level substantially. I would recommend James and Ben Franklin to anybody.
