Pros : They get the job done, and done right. Cons : Very expensive. Theyll take advantage of you if youre not familiar with plumbing and quote exhorbitant prices. Felix came out to remove an old toilet and install a new one. For an owner-supplied toilet, he showed me a price sheet (presumably from Benjamin Franklin plumbing) that quoted $360. That was almost twice the cost of the toilet I had just bought. Quotes I had seen in online forums said I could expect to pay anywhere between 125 and 260 for a toilet install, so the $360 was was surprising. He showed me another column which said if they (Benjamin Franklin) supplied the toilet as well, it would cost me $860 for the new install. Thank god I had bought the toilet myself - a $189 one from Lowes. Should have guessed something was fishy when a) they wouldnt quote prices over the phone b) they charge by the job and not by time (they make it seem like this is in the customers best interest but as youll see, its not.. ) Since he was already here and I didnt want to pay the $60 trip fee for nothing, I had him proceed with the job. Halfway through he tells me the main shut off valve isnt working in the bathroom and it would cost $117 to install one.. and he just happened to have one handy. This sounded nuts ($117 for a shut off valve + labor?) since he was already here for the toilet install and the additional labor shouldnt cost that much - a 15mt job at most). When I was hesitant & questioned the cost and whether this was necessary (being a noob at plumbing), he said it was a big deal since otherwise I would have to go all the way into the street to turn off the main valve if the house ever started flooding. I dont know how the water systems work here (in the US) and since he made it sound like it was a main water valve for the neighborhood or something, I asked him to go ahead with the job. Later I found out that it was a valve on our property and very accessible. It took him about 1.75 hrs to get everything done. The total damage was $440. Thats about $220 labor/hour. In the meantime, I had found a coupon (on their website) that gave me $50 off any work. He attempted to dodge for a while saying he couldnt honor that (a coupon on their own website) saying that is under the assumption that they would charge for the trip fee and not throw it into the work or some other such hogwash. The terms on the coupon were clearly stated with no restrictions. I asked to speak to someone at his office. He dialed a number - it rang incessantly & no one answered. When he realized I wouldnt budge, he agreed and said they wont like this at the office but Ill accept the coupon. (Like I care what the office will say?) Just write me a good review. He called up the office again to process the credit card payment and they answered immediately. Deceitful, shady & expensive. Gotta watch your back the entire time. My 2 cents would be to hire them if you have an emergency and not otherwise. Surprising how they have such good reviews on Google (Yelp has a more balanced rating).

Our hot water heater was acting up, and we didnt have a home warranty, so we asked one of our neighbors which pluming service they recommended. Benjamin Franklin was their immediate response, so we called and made an appointment. The technician (Felix) arrived on-time, and after examining our unit, quickly determined that our hot water heater was not repairable. Felix sat down with us and reviewed all of the options for replacement. He took time to answer all of our questions, and even called the manufacturer of the original water heater to check if it was still under warranty. There was absolutely no pressure to buy their replacement unit, and the technician didnt even charge me for the diagnosis call. Ultimately we went with Benjamin Franklins unit plus their support plan because of our initial experience working with Felix. Despite a busy schedule, Felix was able to remove our old unit, and install the replacement unit on the same day as the original diagnosis call. They even gave us a retired military discount! I will recommend Benjamin Franklin to anyone who asks me "what plumber should I call." All of the technicians that came to our house were friendly, personable, and on time. They did an outstanding job and we will use them again if we need plumbing assistance.

So I used Ben Franklin Plumbing about 4 months ago when I installed a new sink/vanity in my bathroom. Well the sink was leaking where the pipe and the sink meets because the nut was not fitting tightly (no matter how tight I screwed it). So a plumber came and put what was supposed to be some plumbers putty where the leak was and he "tighten" the nut. I havent used that sink often because it was a guess bathroom. For the last week I had to use the bathroom due to issues with my other bathroom. I brush my teeth in the sink, wash my hand etc. Anyway, today I looked under the sink and notice the nut came off (broken into 3 pieces) and my sink it back to leaking. Come to find out it was not plumbers putty and Im not sure what type of paste this is but Im smart enough to know that this was a "quick fix" and the plumber did not fix the real issue. I call Ben Frank today and told them that it was the plumber did not do his job properly and she tells me I have no warranty and they will charge me to fix the issue. PURE SCAM. Folks be careful and watch what your plumber is doing. Im convinced the plumber "glued" a broken nut (a nut he broke) to my pipe. He could not properly screw the nut therefore had to glue the nut to the pipe.

We purchased a whole house water filtration system and contracted Ben Franklin Plumbing to perform the installation. James Peden was the Service Plumber who actually installed the system. He was tireless in his work ethic, not accepting any water breaks or anything we offered him as he did his work. He was extremely professional in his demeanor towards me and my wife and his comfortable, engaging manner of communication made us feel like we were talking to a loved family member. He was very informative and thoroughly answered all of our questions during his post-installation presentation on the system, how it operates, and how to perform maintenance (change the filters). He also did an excellent job of clean-up afterwards. And if that werent already enough, he also gave us a very generous discount when we paid for his service. We could not be more pleased with our first ever experience with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. James Pedens professional conduct, outstanding work performance, excellent customer service and effective communicative skills reflect great credit upon him and upon Ben Franklin Plumbing. We highly recommend Ben Franklin Plumbing (and James Peden in particular) for all of your plumbing needs.

I needed plumbing help on the weekend and I called 3 plumbing companies. It was refreshing at Benjamin Franklin to have a live person answer the phone rather than leaving a voice message like the others. Whitney had a very sweet and understanding phone manner; she couldnt have been nicer on the phone. She scheduled a plumber to be at my house in about 2 hours. Within 30 minutes she called back and said the plumber was on the way. Ricky arrived at least 30 minutes before his scheduled time. He was very nice, clean, and professional. He saw that I had already done some of the work, so he charged me less because of needing less of his time. And he saw that I had already purchased some of the parts, so he didnt charge me for using his parts. He said his parts were of better quality and came with a 2 year warranty compared to the parts I had purchased. He finished quickly and his work was perfect. His final charge was far less than I was quoted by the 2 other plumbing companies who couldnt come out until the next day. I was very happy with the experience using Benjamin Franklin and I highly recommend them and will be calling them again.
