My year long commitment ended today and I could not be happier, and went and canceled immediately!I had initially signed up at the Denton location, because I live and attend school there. The staff at the Denton location has been for the most part great! The Lewisville location on the other hand is a completely different story!! I began going to the Lewisville location due to the proximity of it to my work. The first few times I began going there were enjoyable, and the gentlemen working their were extremely professional and friendly. I dont know his name but he is a taller bald gentleman and he is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. HOWEVER, after about a week, the manager/owner, dont exactly know what her formal title is (short blonde lady) began working whenever I was there in the mornings, and from there on my disappointment with this location began. I have witnessed her scolding customers on multiple occasions and have been talked down to myself multiple times. On one occasion, I walked in with a gallon jug (although, the Denton location has never said anything to me about this) and before I could even get checked in was told be her in a very demeaning tone" Umm you cannot have that in here and I cant and will not check you in until you get rid of it." I asked her if it would be okay for me to carry it just for that day because I did not have another water bottle, and before I could even finish talking she interrupted me and abruptly said "no". I completely understand and would have not have had an issue had the situation been handled differently, unfortunately she felt the need to scold me and make me feel embarrassed in front of other guests. Another day after she had checked myself and a guest in (who she has been extremely unfriendly to as well) I worked out and after proceeded to the locker room to shower and get ready for work, afterwards I changed into my uniform (Khaki shorts and a crop top and uggs, I work at Twin Peaks) and continued to get ready. I hadnt put a shirt on over my uniform yet because I was still getting ready. The manager or whatever she is came into the locker room and gave me the nastiest glare, and walked out. Upon putting on a tshirt over my uniform and exiting the locker room, I was approached by a member of the staff who told me that his manager wanted to tell me that I was not allowed to wear what I was wearing, or anything that showed my stomach to work out in. Keep in mind, at this point my uniform was completely covered, my stomach was not showing. I told him that that was not what I had worked out in and this was merely my work uniform that I had just changed into because I was on my way to work. He told me that thats what he thought but that she had insisted he tell me that I couldnt wear that inside her gym. First, she had seen what I worked out in that morning (Nike running shorts and a tank top) because she was the one that checked me in upon entering . Secondly, I would never even think about wearing my work uniform to work out in. As someone who has held manger and other leadership positions within customer service based companies I find how she runs this location and handles customers completely unprofessional. She should not be in her current position and I have never felt such disrespect while attending a gym. She makes this location unprofessional, uninviting and overall an unpleasant experience. I have even been told that I could not wear my universitys sorority tank tops because they wear too "lunky"? That one I dont quite understand either. She is a rude and unpleasant individual who is an embarrassment to the company she is representing. On another note, as a company that claims to be a "judgment free zone" I have never felt more judged at a gym and feeling like I am on egg shells. I find this "no judgment " thing extremely hypocritical considering you dont allow people to wear certain clothing , do certain exercises etc. isnt that judging someone too? Anyways, I am so thankful I canceled! And I would not recommend at all!!

Disgusting customer service. Very unwelcoming. Specifically, the red head guy with the long beard is very rude and over zealous, not personable at all. I walked in with the intention to purchase a memembership, wallet in hand. However, I had the sudden urge to use the restroom as I was walking into the gym. So, I said "hello" to the man at the front desk and asked where the restroom was located. I said "hello" happily as I was excited to begin my membership. However, I was very abruptly and rudely told that I could not use the restroom there by a skinny red head guy with a long beard. Baffled, I respectfully inquired as to why I could not use the restroom. The man very abruptly and rudely responded that the restroom was "for members only". I replied by informing him that I had walked into Planet Fitness with my wallet in hand to purchase a membership but that I had to use the restroom. At that point the red head guy with the long beard told me that I could sign my name onto a sheet and then go to the restroom. After visiting the restroom, I walked back up to the counter and the man asked me about which membership I was looking to purchase. He didnt apologize for being rude and abrupt or anything. He was not personable or welcoming. At this point I realized, either this guy is racist or just lacking social skills and decent customer service. I asked him if he treated all prospective customers this way prior to them purchaving memberships. He rudely replied with some excuse about some strict "Restroom Policy". I inquired as to the corporate number and he informed me that this location was a Franchise. Then I asked if he was the GM. He said "yes" and proceeded with confrontation. Needless to say I will never come to this gym and alert others of this man, gym, and terrible customer service. I was looking forward to a membership with Planet Fitness and getting friends to sign up.

I get that its a gym and theres always gonna be a love hate relationship with it. I joined 11 months ago with hopes that maybe for the first time in my 36 years I dont have to be ashamed of how I look. I absolutely love coming here. The staff is fine. Theyre paid to do a job, and as a manager myself, I have yet to see them do anything I would have objection to. Ive never been a member of another gym, but for what they advertise in their business model, they execute well. Its a great place to work out. I pay for services rendered and I am very pleased and happy with the value of my membership. For $21.64 a month, it is well worth it. I travel frequently for work, so being able to go to other locations across the USA is an even bigger plus in my book. Read the contract you sign. Understand the fine print. If you dont understand something, ask. If I had any complaint about the company overall, it would be the option to have the monthly fees charged to a card vs a checking account. Im not a fan of giving out checking account information to companies, so to circumvent my hesitation I just opened a separate account with my bank thats used for the sole purpose of paying PF dues. I put $21.64 in, and $21.64 goes out. All in all, I am very, VERY happy being a member. You get out what you put in - and if you stick with it, youll see the results. I was intimidated 11 months ago just walking in the door, to the point of having a full out anxiety attack LOL, but youre amongst people who, for the most part, are just trying to do the same thing you are. Im down 42 pounds and counting, and every time I walk in the door, Im reminded of that and it pushes me to be even better.
