We normally dont write reviews but felt we had to help by sharing an experience that will probably turn most people away. My wife and I booked a vacation well in advance with Marty and paid the minimum deposit required. Several months later, still before the vacation, a family matter required us to reevaluate our finances. We wrote a letter to Cathi (owner) and asked her to consider our case when we ask for any refund possible from the deposit. Marty called us soon after and began going over the cancellation procedure and refund. He implied that there would be a $150 refund from the deposit (paid to FunJet Vacations) and Legacy Travel would have to charge a $100 cancellation fee. Even though I’m not that great at math, I saw a total of $50 being refunded after all fees. After being absolutely sure that Marty and I were in agreement with what would be refunded, we decided to proceed with the cancellation. Marty said to look for the $150 refund on the credit card used for the reservation in the next 1-2 billing cycles. After 4 billing cycles we never saw the refund. I called to talk to Marty and see what the status was, and he then informed me that a refund was never due. He came up with these alleged costs that were never disclosed when we booked or canceled, and magically they happened to equal the amount of the deposit. At this point the $150 isn’t a huge deal to me anymore; it’s the principal behind deceiving your clients and then avoiding the situation. At the very least they could have refunded the cancellation fee and that would have indicated someone accepting responsibility for duping us. They do not deserve your business, as nice as they may seem at first. Make your reservations directly through the airline and resort because you’ll most likely get the best price (my background is in the travel industry) and best of all, you won’t have to trust someone else with your money. It’s unfortunate that the last thing Marty said to me via email was “Sorry for your misunderstanding.” What should have been said was, “sorry for misinforming you, we take full responsibility for our mistake and will refund the $100 cancellation charge.” Update 10/20/10 - Unfortunately we exhausted every possible option to resolve this issue. We wrote a letter to Mrs. Banks, sent several emails, numerous phone calls, and also tried using the Better Business Bureau to mediate a resolution. Legacy Travels response through BBB stated they would have credited the $100 if we wouldnt have written a bad review online. Sorry, but I feel its more important that the public be made aware of bad business practices. (FYI - I pointed out that a bad review can be updated to a great review, but this didnt sway their position)

My boyfriend and I used legacy travel for our first post college vacation in May 2014 (i have been meaning to write a review for months!!). We both had no idea about planning/booking a vacation since we have never been out of the country, but we knew we wanted to go to Mexico. I randomly googled travel agencies in Dallas, Tx and legacy travel popped up. And we are so happy it did! All we did was call the number and spoke with our travel agent, Rachel. She was phenomenal! She gave us several options of what we asked for-- all inclusive, adult only resorts with airfare within our budget. All we had to do was choose the best price with excursions we thought we would have the most fun. We put down our downpayment and our tickets/trip info/suggested packing items arrived within a couple of days. I wont go into too much detail but our trip was beyond amazing. Rachel had suggested that we shoot for valentin imperial maya resort. After looking at their website we decided to go there. We stayed at the Valentin Imperial Maya in Playa del Carmen for 6 days and nights. We took two excursions. The hotel shuttled us from our resort to a 30 minute drive to downtown playa del carmen where we shopped and ate for about 4 hours and came back. The next day we spent the whole day at Xel Ha (by far our favorite thing we did in mexico). The food/service/pools/24 hr room service was absolutely amazing! We are definitely going back! The only thing I would have to say went "wrong", and Rachel had warned us, was that there was not a guarantee that we would be able to get a king bed and might be getting two twin size beds. Rachel said she could call and make sure to put our name on the list or something to get us the king size bed . However, when we went to check in they had us for 2 twin size bedrooms left and we said our agency had called to reserve our king size bed and somewhere along the way we just werent on it (maybe it was first come first serve). Anyways, we either had the option of getting the twin beds (all king size bed rooms were full) or upgrading to the "emerald" room for an extra $150. We ended up upgrading and honestly it was probably a way better option the room was fabulous, very private, had closer access to beach chairs/umbrellas since it was RIGHT next to the beach (way closer than other rooms) so the money was very well spent, and no complaints. Moral of the story is Legacy Travel was so easy to use, no tricks, great people that work there and the owner, Cathy, is very friendly and honest. We had an amazing experience so I definitely recommend them and will use them for future vacations!!

First of all, we would like to thank you and your team at Legacy for helping book our honeymoon. Erin was phenomenal to work with! She was kind, informative and (most importantly) responsive when we had questions. We felt very much at ease about our trip because we knew we were in good hands. We will most definitely use you to book future trips... More and more frequently, we hope! :) Sandals Grande Antigua Resort was one word: INCREDIBLE! It was beautiful, relaxed, romantic, entertaining and we loved every second that we were there. We joined the Sandals loyalty program with the hope that we can continue to visit other properties, as well. The staff there was exceptional and our butlers (Vanessa and Romane) were AWESOME and took great care of us the second we arrived. We always had a prime spot on the beach, our dinner reservations were made for us, the food was outstanding and anything else we needed was taken care of within minutes of asking for help. Job well done to the resort and staff, they were PHENOMENAL! I highly recommend this property and would encourage you to do the same for your clients. One thing I would recommend to anyone traveling internationally would probably be to book a longer connection time upon return. Due to mechanical plane issues, we were delayed and then ended up missing all the flights back to DFW because of Immigration and Customs so we had to stay the night in Miami. These things happen and most times you cant avoid them but we found ourselves watching the clock rather than remembering all the fun we had at the resort. I would also encourage your clients to do things they wouldnt normally do (i.e. snorkel, go to town, wind surf, etc.). We did a few of those things and ended up having more fun that we expected! Laying on the beach was just as great, though. :) We also felt like seven days was just a little to short. If your clients can do a ten day trip, I would recommend it! We were so tired from traveling and the wedding, the first day we slept from 7 pm to 10:30 am the next morning. Had we known how exhausted we were going to be, I think we would have tried to push for a few more days. Thats just our preference. Even one or two days there would be better than no days! All in all, our honeymoon was amazing and everything we had hoped it would be. Thank you so much for helping us plan the perfect getaway and for taking care of everything we needed. We appreciate everyones efforts and hope to work with you again in the future. Sincerely, Demi and Tim OBrien
