TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!! After having a very good mechanic friend move away, we entered one of our greatest fears. Finding a Mechanic we could trust. I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic. Well unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options. Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carls prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED. 2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled "burnt, rotten eggs" (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had "exploded". Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery. Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughters birthday party in 4 days. We didnt need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal. I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan. TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!

I found this place online also I drove by it many times. The owner Carl is a Super nice guy. Very friendly mechanics and Carl is up front with you. They are restoring my first baby an old 58 Ford Fairlaine. I look forward to seeing her up and running like back in her former glory. I cant remember the mechanics names but they are very knowledgeable. They will not steer you wrong on stuff that is wrong or broken. Every time I go in to check on my car either Carl or one of the other friendly staff is always happy to let me go see the progress on my car. Also Carl is taking pics of the progress as they work on my car which is really cool!!!!! I highly recommend this place if you have a classic car or a modern car. For all the stuff they are doing to my 58 I know its going to take some time. But Im not in a hurry. I am very happy and I feel welcomed every time I go here.

Used to be a excellent place. They would keep your vehicle for almost a week, but fix everything right. Last few times I went in they kept it for a week. got my vehicle back and found parts were not reinstalled and missing. Interior was damaged. Things that were working when it went in were not working now. Kept taking it back, they hold it for another week. Get charged more. And the problem still exist. If you have to bring your vehicle back it should be made a priority, not be put at the back of the list and make you be without a vehicle for another week. Especially on the third time you bring it back for the same problem that wasnt repaired properly.

Im from Tampa, Fl. I came to San Antonio to visit my son. Last night, my steering wheel and ignition locked up on me, I had to have my car towed back to my hotel. Ive called so many Mercedes repair shops today and nobody was open. I just called Performance Automotive on Marbach Rd and they attempted to help me FOR FREE over the phone. When what they suggested didnt help, the man on the phone said he was sending the OWNER of the shop to me! I could cry Im so relieved to have someone help me when Im stuck 1200 miles from home and dont know anyone here. Ill post another review after the owner helps me for an update.

I took in my car because it wasnt shifting gears and I told the manager I suspected there was some electrical issue and agreed to leave my car overnight. The Manager agrees to take a look at it for me does so, and when I inform him the next day that I wont be able to put any work into my car due to financial issues, he offers to test my relays regardless, free of charge. They discover its just a bad relay and send me on my way a happy camper. this could have cost me a couple of hundred dollars in electrical diagnostic tests and whatnot. Thank you so much! You guys are Awesome!

This place was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with any car I have ever had. We took our car to get the shift fixed, and it took them 3 separate occasions to "fix" it. Then, they offered to do a free oil change, and the shift was loose again. They supposedly changed our oil but did not reset our alert in the car, and now...the car will not start! If you dont know how to fix something just share that. The people were nice but completely incompetent when it came to our Ford. I would NOT recommend this place for more major repairs.

These guys are gangsters. They will charge you for work that they didnt even do. I brought my car into there to get repaired and in two days the same problem existed. I made my friend who is a mechanic take a look and he said the parts that they said they replaced was still the old stock. I also noticed my shades were missing from my glove box. Please be careful before brining your car here or if you do, at least know enough about cars to ensure they dont steal from you. I brought my car twice to this place. Never again.

"2 Year Customer; Professional, Competent and Reliable" I have been a customer for Performance for about 2 years and they continue to impress me with their professionalism, timeliness and courtesy. Carl (owner) is very accommodating and will let you know how much it will be before its all said and done. They have figured out problems with our vehicles that many others werent able to. They can work on any type of vehicle and are worth a try if you are unsure of their competency.

Performance Automotive is the only place I trust for all my auto needs. I have been taking my personal and business vehicles to them for a few years now. The prices are very reasonable, they keep me up to date on the status, the staff is friendly and Knowledgable. I have had another shop quote me a price of $1200. I called Performance and the total bill was less than $150. You can bet they have my business for life. I would and have recommended them to friends and family.
