I took my car in for an alignment several months ago. As I was pulling out of their parking space where one of their "specialists" had parked the car, I noticed a very disturbing feel to the overall drive of the car. It was literally hoping!!!! I pulled right back in to the spot and went in to talk to an employee with "15 years" experience. I asked him why he didnt tell me about the problem with my car in the first place--he responded, "well I dont have to tell you unless its life threatening...thats not what you paid for". IF I wanted to have the problem corrected it would cost me an additional $60 and then more for parts and labor. Our attendant then proceeded to tell me that total with parts and labor, any corrections made to the car would cost about $500 if not MORE!. I was furious! The "specialist" who drove the car even stated that he noticed a change in the driving and failed to tell me! After reviewing their work and arguing with them to fix the problem, they adjusted one of the tires and said that is was now miraculously working properly. They recommended i see someone else about my car to get a second opinion. Six months later without a 2nd opinion, my car is fine! Horrible customer service. Never again! I left there agitated, feeling scammed and swore I would never go there again.

Absolutely horrible service. I took my car in a numerous amount of times all for the same problem; overheating. The overheating started on my car a day after i had gotten some AC work done here and i took it back the day after. I was told i had a crack in my radiator and hesitantly paid an extra $900 to have it repaired. To my surprise, a month after i had gotten my radiator fixed, my car once again overheated and boiled over, out of the radiator. Once again i took my car back AGAIN for the SAME problem, and was told that NOW i had cracked intake manifold, they offered to fix the problem for ANOTHER fee (it should have been fixed the first time i took it). I pulled my car out of the shop and decided to replace the intake manifold myself. Upon taking it out there was absolutely NO CRACKS on the old intake manifold, so they were obviously going to charge me for a part that wasnt even broken. I wound up taking my car to the dealer and my car was diagnosed with a faulty CCRM Module, something that Im sure that pepboys would have never figured out even if i had put in an extra 2000 to have my overheating problems fixed. Never trusting pepboys again nor will i be returning for any car problems i have. Youre better off having your car checked out elsewhere.

The brakes on my wifes van were grinding, and upon visual inspection it was obvious that the pads and rotors on the rear would need to be replaced. I was dreading this as I thought any shop would upsell every possible brake service they could. I decided to give Pep Boys a try. I took it in early on a Saturday morning, I was greeted promptly with a polite introduction and asked about what I needed. I explained the issue, even telling him that I knew the rotors would most likely need to be replaced. I explained that I just needed to get it working, but also to check the front just in case. He promised to call if they couldnt just turn the rotors. Within 30 minutes of leaving the car I received a call - the rotors were bad, but it looked like nothing else was bad, and the front brakes were fine. They called me back when it was done, not too long for a brake job. The price was reasonable, and exactly as advertised. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. Great experience.

I went here for 4-wheel alignment last week, they asked me to replace rack and pinion and other service which cost more than 900 bucks before they can do the alignment for my car. I drove to my mechanic and he checked all parts, which Pep Boys asked me to replace, immediately for me. No replacement is needed said by my mechanic. By the way, they told me alignment takes around 1 hour and I also had an appointment with them, so I was waiting for my car in the shop. I was the firs three people coming in the shop in the morning they just opened at 8. After waiting for 90 mins, I asked them if my cars done. Then they told me you need to repair these stuffs then we can do the alignmnet. WAHT! they did nothing on my car and let me wait for 90 mins without telling me avctively. WHAT A H@@? I dont want to conclude this, but you can imagine what I would say.

Not just Poor-Fair. I would have selected "awful" if it were available. Perhaps "rip off" would be more accurate. I took my car in (June 24, 2012) because the A/C was not cooling. I figured it had a leak and needed a charge. They charged me $65.80 for a charge and I took it home after waiting in the store for nearly two hours. Whoever was working on the car (Tom?) stole all the quarters from my change holder and the A/C didnt cool any better than before. I wrote a letter to Mr. Romero, the manager, requesting a refund because I had to make another trip and get the A/C charged correctly somewhere else. No response - not even an e-mail. Do not go here. Ever. Just a follow-up after seeing the message from Chris below. I did send my contact information and the whole story to their e-mail address and never got a response.

Get ready for the run around here.. Came in at 430 to get my engine checked since the light had come on and I was told the service staff that did the diagnostic were only there until 5 and to come back the next day. I made it clear I could only get off early enough to come in at 4 and was assured this would be fine. The next day I came in at 4:10 and they took my keys, filled out paper work, and said they would call me. 10 Mins after I left I got a phone call because the service guys were leaving and couldnt check my engine, and to come back tomorrow... When I asked them about it, I was told one service guy left early and the other was about to finish up with the current vehicle (at 4:30) and wasnt going to do another today. Will not go back here and would never suggest this shop to anyone.

I dont understand why people are rating this store so low, the reason they may take to long for your liking is based on the way you treat your vehicle! I took my car in they got the job done and in a very reasonable amount of time! The mechanics were amazing told me exactly was wrong and got it all fixed up. Id recommend them to everyone! The pep boys on Bandera are amazing compared to all the others, stop by and see them they will change your mind with your experience!! They will greet you with a genuine smile!:) When I walked in I wasnt greeted like a customer I was greeted like a friend! Not only did Justin go out of his way to find the parts I needed, but the mechanic Loui got the job done!! People pride themselves on customer service and the guys got the job done right!
