First, I want to say they did try to fix the problems. They offered to either pay for the damages or fix the problems. Im only saying, given a choice, I wouldnt hire them again. For me, this was a Rough Roof job experience. The finished job ended up with having about 4,000 nails sticking out 1/8" through my eave/soffit. Just little pricks that stick out a little and splinter the wood a bit. It looks like 4,000 spiders under the edge of the house. (I have light colored paint.) I was told that building codes required a nail length that was too long to use without penetrating completely through the plywood roof soffit and that there was nothing else that could be done. So, Stephens hands were tied and I get 4,000 nail tips showing under the eave. Again, they did offered to fix the problem. The workers came out to try to nip them with a hand tool to remove them. There were so many a hand tool would take a month of Sundays, so they tried a circular power saw. The circular saw was searing the wood and making things worse. There ended up being no practical way to solve the problem without paying extra. So, I said forget it and now plan to pay $500 to $1000 extra to have sheathing installed to cover up the soffit & cover up the nails. they look horrible if left looking like they are. The roof shingle part on top is ok and looks good. But, the trim work around the corners of the house is pretty amateur. The metal trim under the bottom shingle just bends around the corners and is not flush. Water will get to the wood. I suspect eventual wood damage. I didnt ask them to fix this as it was the last problem and I was exasperated by this time. They would probably come and fix it. I almost forgot about the very first thing. The group loading the shingles dropped a bundle of shingles on my Palm Plant and crushed one of my bushes. they just laughed it off. I complained to Stephens and someone came out to take pictures and did offer to pay for the damage. Since this was the very first incident, I let it go. In fact, except for this review, I let it all go. Only the small bush was smushed and the palm will recover. Here again, Stephens is not so responsible as they got the shingles from another Company. Stephens tried to remedy the nails sticking out all around the house and pay for the crushed palm too. Thats why they got 3 stars instead of 2. They try, but just came up short of my expectations on this job. Just fate, maybe not their fault? Lastly, after the work was done the Stephens Bill Collector came over with the wrong amount on the invoice and tried to collect the larger amount. I showed him the updated proposal with the corrected amount and after clearing it with the office, he accepted the correct amount. Not a bid deal, right? Its just a simple misunderstanding and a clerical error. Except piling it on a crushed bush, shoddy trim and 4,000 nails sticking through my eaves, I just didnt "cotton much to it". I like the owner, hes a good talker and salesman. I wish him well. I thought he was professional throughout. Its just that this job just didnt work out so great for me and cost over $5,000.00 for a roof that left me unsatisfied. I expected to be finished when they left when they finished. But now I still have to pay more work to have sheathing installed. (I bet Id remove this review if they offered to cover up those 4,000 nails with a professional sheathing installation. But, I wont hold my breath.) Oh yeah, that last bottom row of shingles doesnt look like it overhangs the drip edge 1/4" to 3/8" Its cut off right pretty much right at the edge of the "drip edge". I dont know much about this or if it matters. "Im just sayn" Good luck to you and I hope this helps you.

They replaced a functional roof with a brand new roof, but they didnt seal it properly around the flashing and created a leak. They repaired their mistake but didnt repair the damage to the inside, now Im left with a bill for the roof and a bill for repairs for inside, and Stevens is threatening me with a lien while repairs are still being done due to their mistake. On top of all the recent stuff, Stevens took over 6 months from contract signing to deliver the roofing and to start work, but that was a bit expected. However, it wasnt expected that they would deliver the roofing material to the roof without notice, just one day you come home with a metric ton of trash on the roof and no notice. A waste of a company, go with someone else if you have a chance.

We called them three times -- once to repair damage after we evicted raccoons from our attic. We needed to replace the gable vent cover and turbine roof vent. The next time, the roof was leaking around the chimney and finally, leaks around the skylights. In all cases, they were prompt, did a great job and priced very reasonably. Were so happy. At some point in the future, well replace the roof with the three skylights and the skylights. Well undoubtedly call Stephens Roofing.
