I took my sister-in-laws 1982 Alfa Romeo to Foreign Affair for repair; it had been sitting for quite some time and would not start. After a few updates I was told it was running and ready to go. When I attempted to drive the car away it stalled before I got to the driveway. He took it back to the shop and said we had to wrong gauge of fuel hose attached to the fuel pump and he had none in stock to replace the hose, but once I did it would be fine. I took him at his word and limped the car home as it stalled and barely maintained above 20 MPH. After replacing the hose there was no change so I call Foreign Affair and informed them the vehicle was not functioning. His response to me was, and I quote "you said you wanted it to run, you didnt say (run) well". After I recovered from a brief state of shock I was outraged that this "master mechanic" would say such a thing and took no time in letting him know. He thereafter said I could bring it back in or he would refund the $280+ dollars he charged my sister-in-law. I took option 2 and would NEVER recommend this facility and NEVER take another vehicle there for repair. However, if you choose to ignore this review I highly recommend you specify how "well" you would like your vehicle repaired.

I have been taking my 20001 Accord and My 1999 Avalon there for almost 5 years now, and was impressed that someone at the time had answered my phone call on a Sunday night when I moved to New Braunfels and was scouting mechanics...I thought, this place must be worth a try...Since then, they have been nothing but awesome in their workmanship. When my steering rack went out in my Avalon, they charged me around $800 for the repair, whereas the dealer wanted $800 for the part alone. Plus, the part was actually better than factory, made with a reinforced forged alloy. Anyway, I live near UTSA now, but I still make the drive all the way up to schertz for them to work on my cars. These guys are consistently priced lower than competitors for major repairs, but do not opt for lower quality parts. Mac (the owner) is a tough love kind of guy, and will give you straight talk every time (touchy feely types might be offended, but who cares?). Cant recommend them enough!!!

2000 Honda Civic DX Sedan. Had an A/C issue, and I got two quotes. This shop was recommended by a co-worker who has owned many civics/accords in the past so I gave them a call. Not only did Foreign Affair quote me $120 dollars below the other shop, they also promised my car back THAT AFTERNOON, versus a whole 2 days from my usual shop. Olga was a very nice lady and made the check in/check out process a breeze, and kept me up to date with the status on the car just because I asked her to. I wish I had gotten to meet the repair man to shake his hand or something. 2 weeks later and the AC is blowing cold. I will definitely make this my first stop for any repairs in the future.

Love this place. So hard to find an honest mechanic - but you have one here! Foreign Affair was recommended by a coworker when I first moved to San Antonio and I couldnt be more pleased. I had taken my Accord to a local dealership where they tried to charge me nearly $3K for a variety of trumped-up repairs. I took it to Bob and he fixed what actually needed to be fixed for @$600. I now take my car in for an annual inspection, which I would never do at a dealership (they would have a field day) - that is how much I trust this place. And both Bob and Olga are lovely (except when Bob gives me grief about the dog hair in my car. I swear, I just cleaned it! Hes a shedder!! ;)

I used to work for Bob and Olga when I was in college. It has been some years now but I can personally attest to their honesty and fairness to their customers. Ive seen Bob go over and above several times to make sure his customers are well taken care of. He personally supervises every single job that goes in and out of that shop. Hes thorough and very honest with competitive pricing. He trains all of his mechanics to be just as meticulous when it comes to diagnostics and repairs. It is difficult to find honest car repair shops and you just dont know who you can trust. However, I trust leaving my Honda in their capable hands and will not take it to anyone else. Leah Tamez

Best Repair Shop I have ever been! I normally called them to repair my 2002 Volkswagen Passat. They always call me after they check out the car to let me know what issue (s) my car has and to let me know how much parts and labor would cost before they begin the repair. My wife and I are very satisfied with this shop and would not trust our cars to no one else in town.

Ive taken my truck here before. This time my car. They checked brakes and fault codes and reported that the car was OK and didnt need anything. How often do repair shops do this? Besides never. Bob could have replaced rotors and pads and I would have been content to pay the bill. He chose honesty. I will be a loyal customer and share my experience with others

None better. My vintage MG had a slight surge that I put up with for years, and several MG gurus had been unable to fix. Mac fixed it by polishing an internal part to make it smooth - car hasnt run better in decades. And like others have said in their reviews, I was amazed when he called me on a Sunday night to tell me what he had found. Im a fan!

Foreign affair is run by a wife and husband. I came across this place accidently when I was having problems with my Infiniti FX35 near RAFB. They are extremely honest, I check their prices on parts and they were not ripping me off. I was very impressed with the communication and the ease of the process. I had 2 coils burn out I believe coil 3 &5.

Bob repaired my 89 Volvo when I could find no one else in the area whod even touch it, did it with a smile, and did a great job. I would definitely recommend anyone, with any kind of car, to this honest, hard-working, uber-good place, but especially those of you whove been looking for a really good, honest mechanic for your Volvo!

My radiator exploded in a Kia Spectra while driving on 35 into San Antonio. I looked on yelp for auto options in the area and saw all of the five star review here. I limped my car over to the shop and everything worked out great! I had a great experience. I was back on the road in no time. These are genuinely good people.

Even though Mac wasnt able to service my car he took the time to crawl underneath it right from the parking lot and that amazed me in itself. He told me exactly what was wrong eve when I already knew so he knows his stuff. He even called another shop that would take on the job
