DO NOT use 24 Hour Fitness, and do NOT use their Woodlands location! This letter is one I sent to them in regards to excessive charges due to memberships with their company. ------- I recently noticed an excessive number of charges on my account and relayed my concerns to membership coordinators at my club. On December 26, I approached one of the membership coordinators at my club and requested that the family add-on account of Gisela be removed/cancelled and to add Victoria and to make sure that my card is NOT charged again for the account being cancelled. Apparently, this did not happen even though I was told by your staff that it did. Since then, I have been charged a total of $97.38. This is $97.38 that should NOT have been charged. I was told by my club that, in essence, “it’s my fault the account wasn’t cancelled correctly and I should have said something sooner” and that she would not refund this amount. That is absurd. To make something the “customer’s fault” is very poor customer service and not conducive to quality customer service practices. I did my part in this. I made the request and your employee should have canceled the account correctly. There is no way that I can be at fault for that. And, of course, I didn’t speak up earlier… it takes time to see trends and I do not use this credit card often, so I do not review it often. Whether I review this card’s activity does not make something my fault. If I do my part, then your staff is under a responsibility to do theirs. Based on this I have cancelled my membership with 24 Hour Fitness. Based on your employee’s mistake I have had to pay an extra $97.38 out of money that I work for. And since I have cancelled my membership, you have lost a paying customer who will never come back to your gym. You are now losing a membership and family add-on valued at $61.68 each month based on your employee’s mistake. I have always enjoyed working out at this gym location and had no plans to stop or discontinue my membership. Given the situation, I am happy to cancel my membership and go elsewhere. I hope the value of protecting your employee’s mistake is greater than the long-term amount you would have gained by my continuing membership. I will actively seek membership elsewhere, give my earned dollars to them, and I will never again be a customer of 24 Hour Fitness.

Ten Reasons Not to Join 24 Hour Fitness (The Woodlands) 1. The gym is over-crowded. So crowded sometimes someone is doing weights above your head. You hope they see you and don’t drop the weights. 2. The classes are over-crowded. There is not enough space in Yoga, strength training, or zumba. The class schedule changes so you can rely on going to the same class several times a week. The schedule is designed to break your routine. That way they have less parking problems. That causes you not to come to the gym after they take your money. Step class is rare because it is popular! If you are planning to attend class don’t bank on it. 3. Dont think about warming up. It’s overcrowded. You will find the mat filthy because people dont clean up sweat after they leave the spot. Violating gym rules. 4. You cannot find a parking place to go to class. You may have to park across the street at the mall and get run over trying to cross the street, which I have done. Either way you miss your exercise class. 5. It is always hot in the gym. They keep the air on high to save money! 6. The rules of the gym are not followed. Gym bags litter the work-out area. Mirrors are sometimes broken. They will always be smeared with handprints or dirty. 7. This gym is dirty. Pretty sure I got a ringworm on my arm for the gym. 8. I have found the pool to be gross with sediment in the bottom of the pool. The Chlorine smell is very strong. 9. Crowded times are mainly 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. If you like crowded elevators or dirty over-filled buses this club is for you! 10. Joining was a mistake. I should have gone somewhere else or bought my own equipment. The only positive about 24 hour fitness the Woodlands is the trainers. I bet they are underpaid!!! I joined 24 fitness 6 years ago. I paid $300 dollars for a life-time membership. After 3 years a yearly maintenance fee of $80 dollars was charged. But this year they raised the price to $140 dollars-a-year. $140 dollars-a-year is way high. Almost 100% increase!

I hate this gym. Ive been a member of 24hr off and on (I move a lot) for 12 years. Ive been to a dozen or more of their gyms. This one is the worst. Lots of wasted space, limited gym equipment and unhelpful staff. The manager is ironically is the exception but dont bother talking to the trainers if 3 of the 6 olympic bars walk off from the free weight section. They have tons of un used floor space so people can move freely but for the love of god you dont need 5 between benches. They need to add about 3 more benches preferably the ones that change from flat to shoulder press. They need more squat racks 2 in the gym one in the PT area not readily available. Equipment is old and in regular need of repair. They have big ass TRX area only trainers and their clients usually 1 at a time use taking up the front of the building. worthless POS people use their own body weight and bands on. I guess pushups and pullups require a suspension bridge now. Dumbbells only go up to 120lbs and one of the 120s has been broke for over a month. There is only 1 cable station in this huge facility where i have seen 2 or 3 in gyms half the size. there newest section of equipment are these funky machines that gyrate your whole body I feel dont concentrate on the muscles you are trying to focus on. WORTHLESS. I rarely see anybody on these except elderly. Last but not least of my gripes THE PARKING!!! They are at max capacity in the parking lot and in the gym so even if they did bring in more equipment to support their swelling numbers of people standing around waiting for equipment it wouldnt matter because the only thing limiting people from accessing the gym is the fact that the parking lot has less room than the building itself. People are forced to park at taco bell in the adjacent parking lot or across the busy highway or circle the parking lot like vultures waiting for the next person to pull out where they sit blocking access to other trying to leave for fear of missing the next opportunity to park. IT SUCKS!!!

Im writing this update and giving them 4 stars now instead of 3, because they have FINALLY replaced the water fountains myself, and others, have been complaining about. There is still a few other basic items that they need to work on (see below), but if a business makes improvements, I believe they should be rewarded for that. THANK YOU for getting those taken care of. Now finish out the rest and youll have plenty of others who will reward you! Original Rating: "I kinda hate giving this place a 3-star, but there is A LOT they need to work on. And if you read the reviews, it seems like they are either unwilling or unable to effectively make changes. 1. The hygiene is always lacking. Always. They either need to hire an outside company to manage it for them (my company did with tremendous results) or increase their frequency. The bathrooms are just always dirty. Always. 2. The staff is generally nice, but they need customer service training. Greetings and posture just leaves you wanting more. 3. The gym equipment is rarely broken, in my 6 months of experience at this particular 24hr (long time user), but their water fountains are busted up and shoot out such low pressure. Seriously? This is like one of the most important pieces you have! They have not been corrected. 4. No towels! Cmon. I get that there was an issue about being a Sport or Super Sport, how to charge people, whatever. You could at the minimum offer towels to users who choose to pay an added fee or something. Id gladly pay a few dollars more per month to have unlimited use of towels. Im sure enough people participating and this could cover the cost. I hate to pin something on one person, but when you look at this, this is a failure of management and ownership. They either arent reading their reviews on Yelp and Google, or they are not reacting. And everything you read in my review and the others, is easily corrected. Obviously I continue to go, but this stuff needs attention immediately. Im not the only one writing about these things."
