Very unsanitary gym. While most gyms I have been to have sanitizing spray and or towels located near equipment to wipe it off, this place has none. If you decide to join, keep this in mind. More importantly, the gym has very unsavory business practices designed to scam you out money. Though some of the reviews say this gym has improved their business practices, they are still not a very trustworthy business. I recently had to replace my debt card so my payment did not go through. I did not receive any notification from the gym that the payment was declined, so when I noticed it hadnt gone through (during the same billing cycle) I went in to update my card and was charged a late fee that was more than 100% of the monthly fee. Without the gym even attempting to let me know the payment was declined and giving me a chance to update the card on file. Now, while cancelling the membership, I am getting the runaround. You cant cancel in person, you have to do so online. When I called the number on the website to confirm the form was submitted properly, they said they didnt service the Texas locations so I had to call the gym directly. When I called the gym they said they wouldnt be able to tell me if it went though for 30 days... so basically, if it "didnt" go through Ill have to resubmit and get charged for another 30 days (in addition to the 30 extra days the already tack on) . This is actually the same scam they pulled on me a few years ago when I had to cancel and mail in a form which they "never received", forcing me to mail in another. Be wary doing business with them.

From the beginning the sales staff was rude. I was lied to multiple times about how they could only do $200 startup and $20 a month. As I was leaving they kept pulling me back in the door and the price kept coming down. I entertained this for about ten minutes before I finally had enough and left without signing up. A few months later a friend talked me into going back and getting a membership with them. I figured since 2 of us are signing up we may be able to get the membership for a decent price. well after an hour or so back and forth we were able to agree on a deal that was way better then what I was originally almost bullied into. The equipment is OK, at least they have that going for them. The mens locker room smells like something horrible happened in there and was fairly nasty compared to 24 Hour Fitness. Some time has now gone by and I havent used my membership enough to justify it. I called to cancel and the runaround began. After a few phone calls I was sent to a website to cancel. I submitted my request to cancel (for some reason this took like 10 tries before it worked) and received an email confirming my request. That was over a month ago and I have been charged twice now. Please stay way from this place. Just get some 5 gal buckets from home depot, fill them with concrete and workout in the backyard. X2 regarding the "getting charged for two accounts". My friend was getting charged for two accounts, the sales person even admitted it but there is nothing he could do about it. "call this number blah blah" Thank you for reading my experience.

Okay. Listen. You get what you pay for. That said, this is not my first choice in gyms but 24hour fitness in the area is no better so Ill save my money and go here. I signed up in sugarland and went there for a couple of years. That one is great. This one gets the job done but I do wish it were more like sugarland. There is no pool, no sauna, no theatre room. I am very skeptical of who watches my child and wouldnt take him to the kids club here. There is not a clear enough view from the outside of the kids club and they also do not have cameras you can watch while you work out like Sugarland does. There are a lot of cardio machines and i do like the jacobs ladder (never saw that anywhere else) the huge ropes you can use to workout as well as a few other pieces of equipment ive never seen at other gyms. The ladies area is kind of a joke. There are no cardio machines in the area, just a few weight machines. And there is not enough room for me to do my free weight glute excercise there so i had to buy weights to do it at home since i do not feel comfortable having men watch me do those types of exercises. Front desk has always been courteous. As i said above, i signed up in Sugarland and was told about the anual fee. Even if nobody mentions it when you sign up you still shouldnt be signing papers until youve read them so giving poor ratings for that is ridiculous. Given the gyms that are in the area, and the $10 a month, Id say Im sticking with this one

I just joined the gym a week ago. The facility is very clean, all the machines and weight equipment I have tried so far are in working order, people are courteous, and staff are friendly and helpful. You cant beat the price $10/month and you get a lot for it, and free day care, thats awesome. They dont have a pool, or a basket ball court, but I dont need those and dont want to pay for them. Then again, I dont think the $10 is enough to keep the place open. They will try to sell you personal trainer membership, which I singed up for as I thought it was good price and value. I had tried to get in shape before, but I just did not follow through. I think the guidance, planning and motivation of a PT will help. But you dont have to signup for it. There are classes offered as well which I have not been in yet. I will let my wife tell me about those. When you go in there the first time, they will try to sell you the membership and other services, and that is how things work in every gym I have been to. They did not seem pushy to me and they made me really good deals, and I only signed up for what I needed. I could tell they were trying to sell me things. They were honest and guided me in the right direction, and I chose what I wanted. Like I said, $10/month is not going to keep that place open. So I dont mind paying for additional services, and maybe buy supplements from them once in a while. Overall, I am happy with this gym.

I have been a member of Fitness Connection for years. Love this location; everyone is very nice who works here. They have excellent equipment, and I just love the small ladies workout room in the back of the gym! When I started here, I bought two $10/month memberships; one for myself and one for my daughter. I never had any issues with billing and when my daughter moved away for college, I cancelled her membership with no problems. She moved back to the area a couple of years later, and I brought her in during one of Fitness Connection promotions and got $10/month with $0 down membership for her again. I have been a member at numerous other area gyms, and love Fitness Connection! I am not sure why there are any negative reviews at all. All I can say is maybe people are not reading what they are signing and agreeing to, and also not following proper procedures in canceling their membership. I just signed up for personal training here and am so excited about that. Fitness Connection is great!!!
