My experience at VASA has been a good one but with a few frustrations. I think I just expected more and found myself disappointed. PROs: The staff is nice and friendly. The equipment is what I am looking for. I love the theater room where one can watch a movie and get some cardio in. I love the classes that I have been to, they have good instructors that know how to work me. (I do wish the instructors explained more for first time goers though. They jump right in and I am lost for a good while). CONs: I wish the equipment was more organized. It is all bunched together with not much rhyme or reason. Plus I am paying the same price at Bountiful VASA as others pay for VASAs with a pool and spa. Kinda a downer. My other biggest CON is the cleanliness. There are hardly any cleaning stations and no one EVER wipes down the equipment that I have seen. Nor have I seen employees do it either. The mats disgust me and are crawling with sweat and germs.(plus the mats are old and falling apart anyway). When in the classes the floor seems pretty dirty and its the same with wiping down. If wipes are not provided or required then towels should be provided and laundered by the facility. I have been to several other gyms, cheaper than this gym costs, that hands out towels at the front desk for free for use in the gym. I felt it kept the gyms much more clean and friendly. We used them to lay on the mats or wipe sweat from dropping on equipment. Another CON is that I dont feel like there are any benefits to referring people to the gym-not for me or for who Im referring. If you want to boost referrals then give some incentives. Other gyms would do a month free or a free massage/haircut. i also wish there were better deals for bringing guests too. Overall, it hasnt been an awful experience. I just felt that for the price (including sign up fee and annual fee) that I should be getting more for my experience here. My main reason I choose this gym over others was because it offered childcare (the ladies are amazing and so sweet with the kids). Cons with childcare is that it is a separate building, you have to reserve your spot and you have a very short timeframe before being charged. Anyway.. Gym looks nice with friendly people and staff but could have some improvements made.

Dont believe all of the positive reviews left here. Vasa was soliciting them in exchange for free t shirts. Dont be fooled by the name change from Golds to Vasa either. It is the same owners and same management company. My biggest gripe with them is the lack of regular maintenance. The place is rarely cleaned. When it is, it is done so in half measures. Never is a thorough cleaning performed. And when something breaks, you can count on it being out of commission for a solid month, if not more. When something breaks (as they regularly do) a week or two will pass before a sign will go up saying its broken. The sign will say parts are on order and that itll be fixed in a week or two. That date on the broken sign will pass with no activity. Then, they will eventually have the thing fixed about a week later. It is the same pattern every time. Some things, like the steam room break with such frequency that you can count on it being out of commission 50% of the time....no exaggeration! The drinking fountain in the mens locker room been out of commission for several months, with no sign of a replacement in sight. Soap dispensers were removed from the showers because the claimed they were vandalized. They werent vandalized, they were always empty...people were probably trying to get something out of them. Lockers are in a constant state of disrepair and uncleanliness. With all of that said, I will still give them one star, because they do have a good selection of equipment.

Ive been going to Vasa for a while now and have not really had any qualms about it. Great renovation with the turf and a lot of new equipment. Good gym for the price ($10 per month), but there are a few things. It is pretty dirty and I feel like most of Vasas employees stand around all day and dont do much, so the least they could do is mop up and wipe things down each night since they arent open for 24 hours. The staff are friendly though, Ill give them that. My biggest problem with Vasa, as many reviews on here have stated, is that they have many hidden fees and they take any chance they can to try and steal more money. I didnt even workout there for several months due to Football season (I lifted at the school) and they continued to charge me. I guess this would make sense if I was still in my year contract. But this was after my year contract ended and eventually they turned the problem over to claims, who called me and my parents and demanded nearly $200. Seriously?? Where in the world does $200 come from when I didnt work out for like 3-4 months? Pretty low if you ask me, so my pass there is suspended until we figure this out but now I am considering other gym options. Hopefully they can fix this and get everything right, because I really do like the gym and would like to continue lifting there.

Prospective members please read all of the reviews of long time members here on google. This is not a rant, I have been a loyal paid in full customer for over 3 years back from before when it was a Golds gym. When it came time for my renewal in Jan I was treated like my business did not matter. Vasa is more focused on getting as many new customers as they can on a month to month membership knowing that after a month or two most customers will stop coming but they still have your billing information to bill you. For those members who come regularly, they dont need to give you a special price or treat you like they care about your business because they know that you have to lift and they can charge you whatever price and you will pay it or go somewhere else (basically what I was told). I have never seen such poor customer service and business practices. I would rather pay a little more of my hard earned money to know that my business is appreciated and I get what I pay for even if it inconveniences where I have to go to get that service.

Staff was unorganized and it seemed like I was constantly "falling through the cracks" on things. I liked my trainer, but was only able to work with her for a short time, during which no goals/measurements/anything were set because my file disappeared. My first personal training appointment, I was shuffled into a group of 5 with no explanation or apology that I had clearly not been properly scheduled for my 1 on 1. Of course this counted as a session and I was charged. Parking is minimal, a lot of areas in the gym are under construction or need visible repairs/maintenance and the overall feeling was not great. Theyre really hard sellers with personal training, which is fine, but I didnt like the way it was pitched to me. Kind of condescending and "you obviously need to be fixed" sort of attitude. Was quickly locked into a year contract. I moved to SLC, and am hoping for a much better experience in the Vasa locations there than the Bountiful location. But I will never return to this gym.
