Let me start off by saying that the staff was friendly. Unfortunately that is the only positive thing I can say. The food was overpriced and just not that good. My major complaint is that they are in the "Wasatch Savings" program. If you are unfamiliar with Wasatch savings, it is a coupon book that you buy from Elementary school fundraisers. It includes discounts to many fine establishments. Los Cucos offers one buy one get one free offer with the Wasatch Savings program. However, when we went to pay and apply our discount we were informed that they no longer accept Wasatch Savings on weekends (we were there on a Friday). We pressed the issue because nowhere in their offer does it say "Not available on weekends". Had we known this we clearly would not have gone there that day. The server apologized and got a higher up to tell us the same thing. She claimed that there was a sign at the entrance stating that they are refusing to honor their commitment on weekends. We did not get the promised discount. On the way out I looked carefully for the sign that they claimed was at the entrance. In their defense I did find an 8.5" 11" sheet of paper stating that they were rescinding their offer. In our defense it was hidden behind a white board that displayed their daily special. This whiteboard made it so you could not see the sign while entering the establishment. But dont worry, they assured us that we could come back during the week to eat overpriced food that we did not enjoy, and they would honor the discount.

Only decent Tex Mex in Utah. Get fajitas here. Los Cucos is a local chain down in Houston where Im from where Tex Mex is the style. Its important to realize that Tex Mex is NOT authentic Mexican food, whatever that is, so all the people complaining that this place is not "authentic" is because its not. For the record, every "authentic" place Ive ever tried in Utah has been flat out terrible and most of the Mexican places in Utah are terrible with the exception of Rio Grande Cafe, Red and Blue Iguana in SLC and the taco carts on State Street in SLC if you dont mind a little gut ache. Tex Mex (among other things) means good fajitas, they were invented in Houston at Ninfas and in Utah its hard to find a decent Fajita, frankly pretty impossible ... but Los Cucos makes pretty good fajitas. Order the fajitas for 1 if youre feeding 2 people or one of the grill "platters" for 2 and feed 4 people with that (the platters are about $40 but can seriously feed 3-4 people unless youre just really into over eating). Cant comment on most of the other dishes since I always get fajitas here since nowhere else in Utah makes a good fajita. Having said all of this, Los Cucos in Houston falls about middle of the road as far as how good it is compared to other places in Texas, but in Utah its about the only place to get Tex Mex.

The Server Raquel was the only good experience she apologized a million times and was very sincere we asked to be seated by a different table when the hostess rolled her eyes at us and took a while to move us a couple tables over once we were sat down she rolled her eyes yet again and was extremely disrespectful there was a couple seated in the bar that was never served or approached and ended up leaving the floor was disgusting and was coated in a layer of food and straw wrappers once our food came out we could tell that it had been sitting for a while because they were waiting for the two other plates which one of them was burnt the food was dry we were never given silverware then we asked for the manager and she inspected the dirty plate which looked like it was covered in old food she said she was obviously going to take it off of our ticket then made an excuse for the food which made it seem worse saying that she watched it go out the minute it was made which was a total lie since the food once again was dry the plates were covered in a layer of grease usually we dont complain we used to be regulars but not anymore after this experience I dont believe well be going back I dont think Ill be recommending this restaurant to any of my friends or family

We will never go here again. We went for the free appetizer for wearing our Real Salt Lake Jerseys and the appetizer was the best thing we ate (the stuffed avocado). My smothered mixed burrito tasted like it was days old that they threw in the microwave at the last minute. The tortilla was so dried out, there was hardly any sauce on top, and the cheese on top of the burrito was almost burned on, not melted. Also the meat on the inside, Im being generous calling it meat, was very questionable looking. My husband got a supreme burrito and his tortilla was extremely doughy and the ground beef on the inside looked like something youd get out of the hamburger helper box. I also tried my dads chicken dish and it was gross. Definitely not something to write home about. When the rice on the side tastes old, dry, and cant even salvage the dish and the best thing about it is the sour cream, guac, lettuce and tomato that come with your burrito, you know you have a problem. Needless to say, we should have skipped the free appetizers and gone to eat somewhere good. We will not go back.

I will never go back to Los Cucos. Went in on a weeknight thinking it wouldnt be that busy, and it wasnt. Was told 20 min wait to get seat. We went into the bar and took a seat. After a few minutes, we decided to ask if we could just eat in the bar since we they gave us some water and chips. A waiter came by to take our order but we didnt have menus yet and I asked for a highchair for my 1 year old. Long story short, over the next 30 min, I asked for a high chair 3 times, never got one. Waiter never came back to take our order, made eye contact several times however. After wrestling my son for 30 min I told my wife we were leaving. I couldnt believe how bad the service was. Nobody cared that we were in the middle of the room with a baby trying to get anyones attention for a high chair let alone take our order. The best part about this was the guy who seemed to be the manager, walking around in a shirt and tie seemed just as oblivious to what was going on as the 16 yr old waiter who ignored us. This place was a joke.

Ive been to this restaurant twice to dine in. The restaurant is nice, the staff is friendly, the food was good. The problem I had was with a take-out order. I ordered one thing and got home (30 miles distant) to find that it was not what I ordered and in fact was something I could not eat. I had spent $23.00 on this meal just to feed it to my dog. (I also wondered why it was this expensive but was not given a receipt to check it!) I was very disappointed. I understand that mistakes happen, but the management merely paid lip service to making it right. She offered to send a certificate for a complimentary dinner (not really complimentary since I already paid for it technically) I never heard from her, she never requested my contact information. I asked her if she would like my e-mail address to send the certificate to which she said, "Yes maybe that would be easier." Naturally she never sent it. I would rather they give an insincere apology and leave it at that, than to say they want to make it right and then do nothing.
