my experience here gave me ultra-motivation to find a job and then advance myself so i hopefully would never be laid off again. I felt these people are racist. Any of them of any race would go out of their way for people of color, but only offer me a scowl and little help, and that is not as if I asked for a lot. I would find them to be very cold. They are slow to respond. They are not happy to help at all. They offer no insight into anything that you may need, whether it is to collect benefits, or to hook up with potential employment. There is more to my experience that left me with a horrible impression of Virginia. I paid my taxes and have no police record. When I needed my commonwealth to help me out, they let me down. The positive of this? I am working, have been, and even finished post-graduate studies - because like I said, I will never deal with this office and those miserable people again.

If you visit this site for some information or service, you can count on being given a card to call a hotline. You wont be able to call them in advance and find out that they cant help you, because you cant reach them by phone. You have to go in to be told that you need to call X phone number. When you do that, you may be bounced around a few times. If you do eventually reach the right number, you can expect to be on hold for up to 20 minutes before someone picks up the phone.

I called the Alexandria office and I spoke to a representative. I explained my issue with submitting claims and she gave me clear answers to help me better understand the process. Very helpful, great service. Perhaps the staff has changed since the previous negative posts.

Everyone who works here should be fired. Your voicemail is permanently full, and no human beings actually answer the phone. The commonwealth of Virginia would be better off without if you were unemployed and replaced by competent people who showed that they cared.

the phone number they have published only works if you happen to know an extension otherwise you will be directed to the operator and you cant leave messages the system disconnect your call that will be the end of it

The main office was snowed-in, and although they couldnt fix my problem, their upbeat demeanor and encouraging comments and advice made me feel much better and clear-headed about my issue.

Can never get through to anyone using the phone system. The web system is better, but in the case of a Token or PIN issue the web system is not equipped to handle the issue.

The answering system is a joke. No one ever answers and voice mail is always full. I have to drive 50 miles round trip in order to get an answer to a simple question.
