I have never written a review for any service, ever, but I feel compelled to share my terrible experience with Kavenchy. I recently moved to DC and two different people recommended this salon to me. (This shows there are people who like their services!) I booked an appointment, was greeted at the door with friendly smiles, and shown to my chair for Duane to get started. The salon was clean and nice looking. I have been getting my hair professionally done in Dallas for over 10 years and even had my colorist leave my "color formula" on a voicemail to help make his job easy! I also showed him several pictures of my auburn/red hair so he would know what I was looking for. I have never been picky with my hair because red is a difficult color... sometimes it turns out brighter, darker, or lighter than anticipated but I have always been happy because its atleast the correct shade. After my hair had been colored, and washed, I started to tear up as I looked in the mirror. My hair was chestnut brown... I mean DARK! There was absolutely no red to be seen anywhere. I have never told anyone I didnt like their work, so I felt terrible telling him it wasnt what I wanted. I just said it "was pretty, but not what I asked for." He told me not to worry, that he agreed it was a little dark and he would fix it. They washed my hair four times, stripped it, and then started again. When the towel came off the second time, I was aboslutely horrified to see it was the EXACT same color. By this point, I had been sitting in the chair for over 5 hours and I was more than ready to leave. I figured I could do a better job with box coloring then what this guy had done. They repeatedly told me how beautiful my hair looked and I just smiled and said "its not what I wanted. Its WAYYY too dark!" They told me not to worry because it would lighten up in the upcoming days from multiple washes. Well, I dont pay you $250 to dye my hair so I can wash it to get the color I really want. They offerred to stay late and add in highlights, but didnt even offer a slight discount... absolutely not. On top of it all, I asked for a simple trim, and he honestly cut 5 inches off of my hair. I get my hair done every 4 weeks... yes, I have a few split ends just like any woman who gets her hair done often, but it is healthy and shiny, and definitely not in need of cutting off multiple inches. My husband told me how much of a drama queen I was being over the phone, but when he walked in the door, he gasped and said "Wow, you really werent kidding! Im married to a brunette now!" Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back to this salon and I would advise you not to as well. I gave them the formula (same products and brand names), showed them pictures, and was still talked to by Duane, and the owner Sam, as if I was a total idiot who didnt know what I was talking about. They knew how unhappy I was and never apologized, nor offered a discount. They simply tried to smooth it over by saying how pretty I was and that my hair looked "fabulous." Beware of Kavenchy...

Ive had a really hard time looking and trusting a salon that are full of professionals that know what theyre doing and I really think Ive found the place! Before anyone does your hair they have a consolation session that you can talk to stylist and I got Siham and LOVED her! My hair was a hot mess because Ive never gotten it done before at a salon (only cut). I had two different colors going on and very damaged ends. Siham brought my hair to life! Shes so confident in what she does! I ended up having my hair highlighted and toned, then finished it off with a super cute 2inh trim with long layers. It brought my hair to life and made it way bouncier! I honestly showed her a picture and she knew exactly how to execute it to make it perfect for my taste of keeping it natural and light, probably because she has 10 years of experience in hair. Also, so friendly! I basically had a life lesson conversations as well as how to tips on how to keep my hair healthy. If you end up going PLEASE tell her I said hi, just because thats how much I love her and my amazing new hair that I never imagined I could have!

This was my first experience at Edge, Wow! I am pleasantly surprised at the warm & friendly atmosphere that greeted me with the front desk dotting on me from the very start. I went in for a quick Haircut on a referral (from a friend to see Josh) and I was given a complimentary consult for Spa services while I waited and ended up getting an eyebrow wax with a very nice esthetician, since we both had just enough time. This was so amazing, that my haircut was beyond perfect and my eyebrows are now not just only the one "uni" I normally have.... but a natural shape that I am going to keep, and there is two of them! As a new client, they also gave me a welcome gift for my next service and as non, metro-ish "manly -man" as I am.... I am going to get a Facial before my next hair cut.... with my free $20 welcome gift. Pretty cool, that I now feel so pretty.

Note this review covers massage and nail services only. My husband and I had appointments at Edge on Friday September 5th for massage and nail services (manicure/pedicure). During my pedicure the technician cut my toe when she was trimming my cuticles. She worked around the cut but did not acknowledge it to me. After my husband and I left the salon I asked him about his experience and told him about the cut only to find out the nail technician cut one of his toes and two of his fingers when trimming cuticles! I am very disappointed in this experience and find that totally unacceptable. This was hands down the worst manicure/pedicure experience I have ever had and I cannot believe that the technician cut both myself and my husband multiple times. .

I paid $66 for a mani-pedi groupon, which is somewhat expensive for an allegedly discounted service, but I thought maybe the service would be better. I asked the technician for a French manicure, which she agreed to. When I went to check out and tip, the receptionist told me it was an additional $25 for a French manicure, something the technician never said a word about. The technician put very little effort into the feel-good aspect of the mani-pedi, doing almost no massage or work to remove the dead skin from my feet. Also, she didnt finish off the ends of the toe polish very well, and it is already (1 week later) starting to wear off. An uninspired job, and I wont be back.

I recently had my first experience at Edge Salon. I had a Groupon (which Im always wary about since sometimes the experience isnt as good because they know you are getting a deal so they treat you as such), but I was pleasantly surprised. The women at the check in desk were both courteous and professional. The guy who cut and styled my hair (I refuse to name him because I want to keep him as my personal secret) was not only an awesome stylist but also incredibly informative, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. I dont often do this, but Im giving Edge 5 stars and making "he who shall not be named" my new stylist.
