Only reason why this place gets 4 stars is because I bought ear buds from their store for 7 dollars and they are very cheap and only work half the time. The sound is figety and you have to turn the jack to the right spot for it to have full sound. So that was my experience with that, now for the actual gym part. I just joined, however I went a few times before with my sister as a guest, so I am pretty familiar with planet fitness. The staff is very friendly and great customer service. The equipment is in good condition and everything is pretty clean. I have never taken showers there but alot of people do. The locker room is clean as well, I constantly see a pf employee go back there to clean or make sure everything is tidy. I joined this gym because of the price (10 dollars a month) most gyms make you pay over 100 dollars up front and 30 to 60 dollars a month. So as long as you dont mind not having a swimming pool, PF is perfect. My goals for the gym is simple. I am 23 years old and 6 foot 2 and 167 pounds so I am pretty slim. But, I am out of shape and have a terrible diet and I do not get hardly any exercise. I did not join to bulk up, I joined to be fit and live a healthier life style and to relieve my stress, Pf is perfect for that. Yes, they have pizza night and hand out bagels once a month. Also, they have candy at the front desk. From my knowledge they do not have any classes on nutrition but, that is probably why the gym is so cheap. But, you get what you pay for, and even though I have poor diet it is by choice, I know how to eat properly and have been improving. So that is why PF is perfect for me. I mostly do cardio, they have plenty of cardio machines, they have weight machines but very limited on free weights and they do not have a squat rack which is fine, I am not trying to be the hulk. You can still gain muscle and be fit at PF. You dont need heavy weights to do that, but for body builders they are limited. PF is not designed for body builders or extreme workout enthusiasts so, if you are looking for a value gym, if you are a beginner and just getting started try out PF. It is perfect for newbies and even the average person. They do have weird rules, like no water gallon jugs and no grunting or dropping weights. They even have a "lunk alarm". It is just a sales gimick and it works for them so I cant hate on the company. Overall this is a good starter gym and I would recommend it to anyone.

I love planet fitness as a whole. But why would you do maintenance in the middle of the day? They have 4 smith machines and three of them are unusable because theyre painting. Why not do your maintenance in non peak hours? Like late at night. Its 11am and I cant even finish my workout like I want because Im waiting on the smith machine. I hate to complain. I really do, but wheres the logic? This is more of a late night thing, honestly. Pretty sure them painting the white walls black is something that couldve been done at another time.

Today was my first time at the Newport News branch. Many of the cardio machines need to be replaced or upgraded. There were only 3 row machines; one had a display which didnt work, but all 3 were busted with rused chains. The free weights area needs more breathing space, ppl were squeezing between the weights just to excercise. I will try a few more times at different hours before considering another gym. One Life Fitness in Chesapeake is by far the best of them all In the Hampton Roads area.

THE BEST PLANET FITNESS TO GO TO. So spacious and clean and neat. And cute. Gah. Its my favorite gym to work out. Plus its like ten dollars a month all access to everything! Thats less than 200 dollars you have to spend to look good. They even have personal fitness trainers there.

Not too bad as a cheap gym, but there is little for anyone who would like to lift a bit more seriously. The lunk alarm is more annoying than helpful. Beware, though, even though they say they are different, they are going to try to make it hard for you to cancel your subscription!

My account was suppsed to be closed despite letters and emails they kept charging my account. This is why I hate giving information to places like this. I will never go there again and I hope it was worth the extra $60 to get bad reviews.

After being a member for 3 years at the Planet Fitness in Newport News I cant believe a staff member named Jessy called the police on me after a member complained that I was using a machine for too long.

Good amount of equipment. Appears clean but there is a definite odor. I go to two locations in my hometown and neither f which smell anything like the one here in Newport News!

Good place, I mean a gym is a gym. I just dont like these "policies" of theirs. At a gym you should be able to express something even through grunts and charisma.

If you workout here , its sad. Theres no bench press and you cant wear a tank oh and also the weight only goes to what 75 lbs on dumbells.
