Ivey league is definitely one of the most amazing places you could go for MMA or BJJ, and its not just because of their skill. I am a person who is somewhat lacking when it comes to fitness. Due to that, I find it extremely intimidating to attend a class full of people who are more skilled and in better shape than myself. I hate to feel inadequate, but I also recognize that I will remain so if I dont push myself to become better. That is a personal mindset though, and not once after walking through the doors of Ivey Leagues gym was I made to feel inadequate in the slightest. Everyone-from the office administrator, to the owner, to the other coaches, and even the students-are all extremely friendly and encouraging. I took the 7 day trial and couldnt keep up in the warm up, but everyone kept telling me how awesome I was doing. I walked out of my first class feeling like I could take on the world, as unadviseable as that may be. Even after I finished my trial and didnt immediately sign up (it was due to some personal issues going on, nothing to do with any actual reluctance to do so) other local places sent me email after annoying email all saying the same thing: "Hey Cheyanne! When are you signing up? When?? Huh?" Ivey league did it differently, and I appreciated it so much. Coach Tony sent me occasional emails to check in on me and see how I was progressing with my goals-despite my not even having signed up yet. I informed everyone that my signing up was kind of up in the air due to some personal stuff, and Danny (the owner) even said he would drive to Virginia personally and speak with my grandmother (the source of the issues) if it would help me out. Not once did I feel pressured to join, and not once did anyone try to put down other local gyms. It didnt feel like a competition, but like a tight-knit group of family members who just want their family to keep growing. They seem to genuinely care about the people who walk in their doors not for the money they could make off of you but for encouraging growth in their community. Im happy to say that while I may not be able to afford the full membership, they were still willing to work with me and I am going to be taking some personal training lessons with one of the coaches from Ivey League until the day comes when I can feasibly manage the monthly fee. And mark my words, I will definitely be joining for the full membership.

"As someone who has been training for quite a few years now, and has seen the likes of many schools out there, I have come to learn that when shopping around for a school to handle your martial arts needs, the following things are VERY important to consider... - Is the place you are considering to handle your and/or your familys needs legitimate? By this I mean, do they have credentials, and can their credentials be validated by a credible source? The Ivey League team in Annapolis Maryland has all the necessary credentials, and an outstanding reputation. - Is the place youre considering organized? Do they have an accommodating schedule? Do they have multiple programs with qualified instructors to teach them, and do their classes start on time? Ivey League = yes, yes, yes, and yes. - Is the academy clean and presentable? Do they clean their equipment and mat spaces daily? This is a very important to know, and Ivey League does. - Does the school you are considering have an ego free - safe training environment that has fundamental classes for beginners, as well as a structured curriculum to assure a students progression? Ivey...League...all...day! Those are just a few questions to consider, and I can tell you after having trained with Master Danny and his team for nearly a decade, they are a top notch academy that can handle ALL of your needs; whether they be Bjj (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Kick Boxing / Muay Thai, etc. Absolutely no school in a significant mile radios can come remotely close to their structure, teaching habits, student relationships and customer service, environment, and so on. Master Danny has been helping me with my needs and goals for majority of my career, and has been a key piece in my having earned the accomplishment of a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I owe a lot to Master Danny. I cannot speak highly enough of him and his awesome team". - George McGinnis / York County, Pennsylvania

Ivey League MMA is the most important place in my life. Since I have been a student I have experienced a complete life change. I have lost 60 lbs and feel that I can defend myself against any person. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the most fun for me but I also like the Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts classes. Danny Ives is a great coach that truly cares about his students and offers to them plenty of individual attention. Each person is different, and Danny knows through his experience how to help people overcome their weaknesses to become great. (Most important to me) Ivey League is the most friendly gym I have ever visited. There are no egos and no thug types. We laugh and have a great time together while pushing each other as a team to achieve bigger and better things. From my first day I never felt nervous or out of place. People immediately introduced themselves and were very welcoming. I had pictured walking into the academy and everyone staring at me like, "What are YOU doing here new guy?" It was not like that at all. Training at Ivey League made me want to quit smoking, quit drinking and lead a healthier lifestyle, which I have done. The best part to anyone on the fence about trying martial arts, is that you can join for 30 days risk free to see if you like the academy. Most places only offer a couple of free classes. 30 days is plenty of time to know if martial arts training is for you or not. One last thing. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has seen fake black belts appearing more and more as the sport/defense system has grown in popularity. Danny Ives is from the Gracie family lineage. It does not get any more legitimate than that. Hope to see you there!

I started training at Ivey League MMA about four years ago, while I was living in Annapolis. I was 30, mired in law school, and looking for a physical activity that would keep both my mind and body engaged and allow me to release some of the stress of my daily life. I had no experience in wrestling, boxing, or any type of martial art, so I was a bit nervous before my intro lesson. That nervousness was completely unfounded. Within minutes of walking in the front door, I was sweating, laughing, and making new friends. I joined that day, and four years later, I find myself doing the same thing and I am in the best physical condition of my life. About two years ago, I moved from Annapolis to southern Anne Arundel County. I drive past other martial arts schools to get to Ivey League. I decided to continue training at Ivey League because the coaches, staff, and my fellow students had become a new family to me. I have met people from all walks of life: doctors, lawyers, police officers, students, children and parents, IT professionals, soldiers, Marines, financial planners, mathematicians. The two things that literally everybody who walks through the doors at Ivey League have in common are a positive attitude and a desire to learn. There are no egos. It is truly a team environment where we all help each other, bond with each other, and pull for each other. If you are looking not just to learn martial arts and improve your physical condition, but to make friends in a clean, safe, fun environment, to network, and to build confidence, come to Ivey League and take the 30 day free trial.
