I am furious with the way my account has been handled. For two months, since April 2017, now I have been overcharged and Onelife has been taking additional money from my account. I am on limited funds as my father recently passed away and I have been assisting my mother. I am on a plan for personal training to pay $45 two times a month; instead Onelife is taking $126 twice a month from my account. I have been to the facility on City Center Blvd in Newport News FOUR times to clear this issue up. Last month I was refunded the difference after the third and fourth time I’d been there. But no one seems to be able to tell me what is going on. The Assistant General Manager seemed clueless about Jim (the person who handles accounts) being on vacation, so I was directed to the General Manager. I went to meet with the General Manager, who I told was waiting for me, but when I got to the branch he left already. He never called me back or emailed me in regards to this issue! I need this issue to be settled once and for all. Onelife has abused the privilege of having my credit card information on file, therefore I am requesting my card information is taken off file and I will pay any of my membership fees in person. This is the poorest example of customer service that I have ever experienced. There is a lack of care for the customer! I need my personal training contract to be cancelled immediately! I have wasted time, money, and effort in attempting to correct this situation with a facility that has no care for me and my concerns.

I have had a mixed one life experience. On the one hand I am happy to have a gym with great hours so close to me, however the One Life Fitness of Newport News leaves much to be desired. -The gym is absolutely jam packed during regular evening hours and it is frequently difficult to get a squat rack among other things. -The free weight section does not have enough 2.5 and 5lbs weights and so I usually go on a search for extras or work out at below my target. -They have a phenomenal room for full body barbell workouts, but it is usually off limits unless you are participating in the Jungle Gym classes. -When the Jungle Gym crew are doing there thing there is no good spot to do deadlifts. Many people end up doing them in the already crowded aisles near the squat racks, which is uncomfortable and probably a fire code violation. -Finally, One Life Fitness can be a sonic hellscape with 3 or more kinds of music blaring at the same time. From the free weight section you can clearly hear the jungle gym music over the standard music sprinkled with bits of sound from the new group workout area on the first floor. BRING HEADPHONES Id like to think that this can and will change, but no amount of writing suggestions in the suggestion box, filling out surveys online or speaking with desk workers and managers has changed things in the last year. They are expanding and have recently added more parking, but for now the place is uncomfortable and unfortunate.

I always have fun and look forward to going. The kids love the care center. Pros: LOTS of pros! Its clean. There is a lot of equipment, lots of dumbbells, lots of Olympic weights and I can always find what I am looking for. There are more classes than I could ever try, so something for everyone. Ive been going for 5 months and there are still things I can hardly wait to test out (pool, tanning, my A-game). They have a smoothie thingy, but I bring my own nutrition. Kid care staff is awesome! Cons: The music. Someone likes techno too much. Some of the equipment is worn down pretty well. SO many people wont put their weights back so I have to pull hundreds of pounds of weight off barbells, but hey, I go to the gym to lift weights so their loss is my gains. There are certain times that the gym is really crowded but sometimes its not at all. Evenings looks like a club scene. The daycare hours are HORRID. So are the weekend hours for the entire gym. Overall, its just a good workout and I am not there for the sugar coating.

Place feels like a second home. They always maintain their equipment and keep the place clean. It can get insanely crowded from 4pm-7pm during the week, so unless you have to go during that time, Id avoid that block. Theyre building another gym close by that will probably help with that. It can also be a bit intimidating at first to some people because there are a lot of serious lifters. If you talk to people though, youll soon find that most, if not all, of the people working out are friendly. I like the fact that they have large signs that say "No cell phone use while on machines". Most people respect that rule. Some idiots dont, but, you have idiots everywhere. Prices are more than fair. If youre signing up, ask for Freddy. Hes a genuinely good guy that will take care of you.

I absolutely LOVE the gym. This review is about the "general manager" at Newport News location on Oyster Point. He calls me to let me know I had a balance on my account (false). I tried to inform him my account should be under my employer and I gave him the name. He said "We dont have that company here" (WRONG) and "we dont have business accounts" (WRONG). We went back and forth because I knew for a fact my account was under the employers name. After telling him over and over what my account should say he said "Im the general manager I would know" I hung up with him and called PHIL (thank God for him). As soon as he opened my account there it was, MY EMPLOYERS NAME as well as a balance of ZERO!!!! THANK YOU PHIL

OneLife Fitness is a VERY large gym ! You rarely have to wait to use equipment. And they have a ton of free weights in 4 different areas ! The number of machines is staggering ! They have everything from a 3D climbing wall in the center of the building to saunas in the locker rooms. The trainers are super helpful and well worth the money. Many members are experienced bodybuilders and weightlifters and can also offer sound advice and spot you. This is hands down the best gym in the area. Also, they are affiliated with Crunch and Planet Fitness and you can use those facilities in a pinch.

I have been a member of this gym for a just over a month. I can say that the facility is very clean and kept up to meet anyones standards. The employees are very nice and willing to help with any questions you might have. If they dont know the answers they find someone who does. Mark has been really upfront and easy to talk to. The personal trainers are great. They go out of their way to help anyone even if they arent training you at that time. I look forward to reaching my goals with the great people at onelife!

Im shocked this place is still in business. A bunch of crooks running a gym. I cancelled my membership years ago and Im still getting harassed on money I dont owe. Very undeserving of anyones business, while some good businesses are dropping left and right. They say I owe them like $1,000 and thats funny, because you would think they would be at least smart enough to revoke a membership before a balance reached that amount. Not my fault they didnt cancelled my membership correctly. A BBB complaint is coming.
