I was really optimistic about this place based on the reviews. The owner is very manner-able, but the service I received was not so great. I initially got in touch with him in regards to replacing a timing belt, the tensions, and water pump. I had my car towed there around 11am on 5-13-16. I called the next morning to find out what his diagnosis was, and he stated that he hadnt looked at the car yet. That should have been a red flag for me. He then said he would have an answer for me by Saturday at 9am and promised to call me by 9 to let me know the results. By 5 pm, when I still hadnt heard from him, I decided to make a trip to the shop to find out what was going on. He said that he needed to put it on a machine thats located at some other place to find out if it was an interference engine, which wouldnt be available until Monday. Tuesday morning he said that the engine is not an interference issue so we should be fine, but that he had to order a part, and it would be in Wednesday and I should have my car by Thursday. He did make me aware that if damage was done to the engine valves, that the repairs could span into the $1500-$1700 range. I let him know that if that was the case, I would not be interested in fixing the car, because I didnt even pay that much for the car when I first bought it about a year ago from the auction. He called me back to let me know that some valve damage was done, but when I asked if it would still be drivable with just the fix of the timing belt and water pump, it said that it would be, it would just drive rough. Long story short I went to pick up my car. He required that I pay the money first and then he gave me the key. Went outside to a car that wouldnt even start. Went back in to let him know the car wouldnt start and his response was, "oh, were you expecting to just drive off with it?" At that point I was livid, because if he would have informed me that even with the fix of the timing belt, tensions, and water pump, that my car would still not be drivable or even able to start for that matter, I wouldve never paid all the money to fix the car. I really feel taken advantage of, and I would advice anyone who is looking to get your car repaired there or anywhere for that matter, that you have somebody with you that knows a little something about cars. Otherwise you will get ripped off like I did. Now Im in the hole a few hundred dollars with a car that I had to get towed back home.

Deserves zero stars and are dishonest. Miss diagnosed multiple parts....mechanic that replaced our back brakes didnt adjust them so we lost breaks within two days. Brought truck back and owner said the mechanic was fired and he would personally over see they were done correctly. Then we drove no more than 100 miles and the brakes started feeling squishy. We were out of town so we got another mechanic to check brakes and we were told again that the brakes were not adjusted correctly by precise auto we then paid a second mechanic to do the same work for the third time and have not had a problem with the brakes since. When precise auto was told this the owner told us it was our fault because we were towing too much weight behind our truck am that loosened our brakes. We had 3200 pounds in a uhaul trailer and were towing with a one ton f350 diesel so were well within safe limits so they just didnt want to take responsibility for not properly doing their job. They also overcharged Ac causing it to blow hot and they then lied and said our compressor was leaking fluid out and would be a 400 fix.. when we questioned this diagnosis because there was no visual leaking he said it must have been the the mechanic they fired and Dave said he would look it over again for free. They they put dye in to see if there were leaks and said now our pressures were too high and the fan clutch was bad so they couldnt put in the tracer dye..we then took it to pep boys for a free Ac check and they we had absolutely no leaks no problems with the supposedly broken 400 dollar compressor no problems with a supposedly broken 350 dollar fan clutch...only problem was that precise auto overcharged our Ac to the point where it wouldnt work..and then quoted hundreds of dollars of work that didnt need to be done..

Unbelievable. The VP, Dave, took great care of me from the very beginning. I shopped around for about a week, looking for a reasonably-priced and reputable shop in Norfolk. Precise had really good reviews online, and the second I called in, I knew my Mustang would be in good hands. They let me come in immediately and I didnt wait to be seen. When I told Dave what my concern was with my car, he personally drove it and diagnosed it immediately. As it turns out, I got an oil change 300 miles ago and they basically "forgot to put new oil in." I imagine they were holding out to see if I wanted to get some additional work done, and when I said "next time" they just forgot to finish what they were doing. Luckily, I came across Precise. Dave figured it out, fixed it, didnt charge for the diagnosis and gave me discounts on what are already the most fair prices Ive come across. There was absolutely no pressure to get any other work done. The only other issues that he brought up with my car, were issues that I was already aware of. And again, there was no pressure to get any of those fixed. He even suggested the order in which I should fix them, if I wanted to do them one at a time in the future. I really couldnt be happier with the service that was provided to me. So much so that I sent my mother there today. She called me after she left, singing their praises. Ive already shared my experiences with some friends and co-workers, and Ill be even more willing to brag about them now. Almost forgot to mention... I was on call at a nearby hospital when I visited them. Not only were they very thorough, but they were very quick. And that was as invaluable to me as anything.

Wow. Just wow. Ive taken many cars to many automotive mechanics in many cities. I can say without any hesitation that the folks at Precise are THE BEST. Period. Not only are the mechanics who work there knowledgeable and efficient, the management (Dave) is fantastic. I recently brought in a 1986 Nissan pickup I had bought on Craigslist. I had a finite amount of money to spend, so I was interested in finding a shop that would fairly evaluate the condition of the vehicle and complete the repairs needed...without giving me the runaround. Dave and the others at Precise exceeded my hopes...in spades. Not only did they complete $3,000 worth of work in two days (!), they gave me periodic phone calls just to make sure I was aware of what they had found, how they planned to make the repairs, what my alternatives were, etc.! Lets face it: this NEVER happens anywhere else. More commonly, the folks you deal with must be encouraged, prodded, poked, implored, (begged?) to interact with customers. Since retrieving my pickup from Precise, it has run very well. With repairs of this magnitude (tires, shocks, sway bar, ball joints, exhaust repair, coolant flush, etc., etc., there are typically small things that need the dreaded "revisit." This has not been the case with my truck. The vehicle was serviced well...THE FIRST TIME. Nevertheless, I plan to call Dave today because he "is personally interested in how the vehicle is running" (his words, not mine). OK, so this review sounds like Im gushing, and perhaps I am. Yet, I challenge anyone, anywhere to find a better auto care place. Thanks, Dave (and the guys)!
