Ive been going to Sunset Hills for almost four years now with three different vehicles and have been extremely happy with their service, friendliness, and prices. But when I brought my recently purchased 2008 Acura to them for assistance their customer service went above and beyond. The vehicle I bought needed $1500 of repair work within 45 days of purchase. (My fault for not having the vehicle checked by a third party.) When I confronted Fair Oaks Jeep/Chrysler (see posted review) with my concerns I was told that I was being ripped off by Sunset Hills without anyone at Fair Oaks reviewing the vehicle or replaced parts, despite numerous offers. The sales manager at Fair Oaks called Sunset Hills. Much to my relief the manager at Sunset Hills had no problems repeating to Fair Oaks exactly what their mechanics told me: the vehicle service should have been done before sale. Thank you Sunset Hills for backing me up. Fair Oaks responded by offering a payoff amount that I declined and opted for filing a complaint with the BBB. It was clear 180 attitude change by Fair Oaks that Sunset Hills excellent reputation is well known in this area, especially among others in the auto business. On top of that Sunset Hills performed the work for almost half of the cost quoted to me by Rosenthal Acura. Sunset Hills has won a customer for life.

Do not go to these guys for your brakes or your vehicle inspection. Grossly overcharged for my brake pads and rotors. Brake pads are never $100 a set unless they are performance pads. Your average pad set should be $30. Also tried to tell me rotors are $75 a piece. Again unless they are performance slotted and drilled rotors, no they are not. After explaining my dissatisfaction he said " let me talk to someone" and came back with a set half that price. Why wasnt that the first option? In addition to $108/hr for labor this was an AWEFUL experience. Next up is VA manditory vehicle inspection. I sat there for 2 hours while my brakes were getting done and every single person they called back for inspections apparently needed new wipers to pass. Not a coincidence when its 12 out of 12 people. They are basically preying upon the fact most people in the area are well off and dont know any better. Please people of Reston, do the research on your car parts before ever trusting a bussiness to do the job. UPDATE 4/5/2014 Brakes started to vibrate after 3 weeks of use so i took the car to a Honda dealership. After performing an inspection on the newly installed brakes it was found that the new brakes along with my my older front brakes were quote: "Purposely dis-aligned" These guys are pure and simply THIEVES.

Not for the value-minded consumer. I was quoted $1600 to fix a rough running engine on my 00 Toyota. Came in to pick up my car to take it to another shop for a second opinion, and was told at the counter only $600 of the work actually needed to be done to fix the immediate problem, and when I still decided to take the car elsewhere, was charged $125 just to read the codes and come up with the quote. I had been in two other times for brake service and after an initial and unsuccessful $300 to resurface the rotors, I came came back 2 weeks later to have the rotors replaced (another $300). On a positive note they are very friendly at the counter, always meet deadlines, and are good at staying within the original price quotes. I would urge value-minded consumers like myself to look elsewhere though.

Good honest mechanic. I took my car to another local shop to check out the cause of a light which had went off on my dashboard. When the first shop said my car required ~$2,000 of repairs, many of which to remedy problems I hadnt noticed ever having, I decided to get a second opinion at Sunset Hills. Not only was the first shop trying to sell me a major part I didnt need to remedy the dash light they were also pushing several other repairs I did not need. Ive taken my car to Sunset Hills for some other work including an inspection and have been pleased. I highly recommend them to anyone in the Reston area.

These guys are Liars! Dropped off my relatively new car for standard VA safety inspection. I know for a fact nothing was wrong with it. Got a call saying my brake light was out??!! Which I know was completely false. Not like I could prove otherwise since I wasnt there in person at the time. They just wanted to make a quick $20 and I wasnt about to pay to have a safety inspection again at another place. Do yourself a favor and find a more honest place, or at least one where you can watch everything they do while your car is being serviced.

6 months ago, another mechanic told me I needed approximately $2500 worth of work on my car. I couldnt afford it, so I kept putting off what I knew would ultimately be a painful repair. Today, my car is fixed for less than $900, and it is because these guys arent crooks, and they dont take advantage. They told me what they would do to their own familys cars, and I took their advice. I couldnt be happier. I will DEFINITELY be back.

While they were friendly and efficient, they tried to overcharge me by over 200$. I was in a bind as my car had broken down in the middle of the night and this was the closest place, but other places and the Web indicated for parts and labor the served shouldve been $650 max - they wanted me to pay almost $900. They came down in price for me but I still do not totally trust them in spite of good service.

I went here this morning, with a huge nail in my tire, i had every intention of having to purchase a new tire. Upon bringing it here; they had every opportunity to rip me off; but didnt. it turns out that the nail was bent or broken and actually didnt pierce the tire at all, and they simply checked it and let me go free of charge. Extremely nice.

Felt compelled to write a review because Ive never had such a pleasant experience anywhere else for my car. They are friendly and so fast! I dropped my car off a little before 9am and was able to pick it up in under 2 hours! Other places I would be waiting all day. Also, they were so thoughtful to park my car in the shade on such a hot day.

The gentlemen at Sunset Hills Auto were so kind and were a breath of fresh air after dealing with too many establishments that were unreliable. I took my car in early on a Friday morning and they had my oil leak fixed and new spark plugs in by the time I got off work. Would highly recommend.
