If I could give this place zero stars instead of one star, I would. They are scam artists and I would not recommend anyone go here. I recently got a state inspection and failed the inspection. I was told I needed both of my rear (rear Axel) break shoes replaced as well as my windshield wipers and that this replacement would cost me a total of $339.73 for parts and labor, plus taxes and fees. I was completely okay with getting the rear shoes replaced as well as my wipers fixed but I had the feeling that they were charging me a bit too much for the parts and labor. So, I took the "fail sticker" and began looking for other quotes. I decided I would change my windshield wipers myself and reached out to Firestone about my breaks. Firestone told me that I would be charged around $150 for parts and labor on my breaks so I jumped on that offer and took my car in to get the shoes replaced. Upon inspecting my car, Firestone explained that although my windshield wipers did need to be replaced, my break shoes actually DID NOT fail inspection. They walked me through the steps of checking my rear breaks and explained to me that they were completely within the confines of passing state inspection. The manager at Firestone explained that knowingly failing an individual for a state inspection is illegal and that Midas can lose their inspection license because of this. If they did this to me, I am assuming they are doing this to many other people (and from reading previous reviews, I know that they are). Please safe yourself time (and a boatload of money) and go somewhere else. Midas is forever losing my business and I honestly am disgusted with them. I will continue to spread negative reviews about them wherever I can so that others are aware of what they are doing. Have a nice day!

I took my car in to be inspected. I had recently had all of my tires replaced so I was fairly confident there would be no major surprises. WRONG! The first issue was that Midas could not locate the tire key to unlock my wheels. The female manager told me they could change out my wheels from locking to unlocking at an expense to me of course. I was also told the technician searched the vehicle and the key could not be located. I went back to Midas to look for myself. The female manager there with me the entire time. I have to admit I know NOTHING about cars but knew the tires were recently replaced so the key had to be there. Once there I was informed that I would need a new power steering unit to pass inspection. That alone would cost me $1,300. Needless to say I was a bit more than frustrated and left with my vehicle and failed inspection sticker. Upon arriving home, my husband located the key lock right were it was supposed to be.... with the spare tire! The following day I took my car to another car repair shop with the rejection stick for all to see and repeated what Midas advised me. Long story short, I did not need a new power steering unit, merely the boot. My total repair cost, which included an inspection and an alignment was a grand total of $238. I will never go there again. I feel like they saw a sucker female coming and tried to take advantage of me.

I was visiting a friend in Richmond and decided I should get an oil change before I road tripped across the country back home so I made an appointment here. Two hours after the time that my appointment was for they finally get to my car to start the oil change. When they finish they tell me that my air filter is dirty and one of my tail light bulbs is out and ask me if I want them to replace those. I ask how much longer that will take and they say 5 minutes. I figured the air filter would be $15-$20 and a bulb is $3-5 and 5 minutes of labor should be $20 at the most so it shouldnt be too bad and give them the okay. Well I was wrong. The parts cost what I thought they would but they charged me $26 for labor to replace the air filter and $15 to replace the bulb. The worst part is that the air filter was already removed because of the inspection that they do with the oil change and if I would have said no they would have put the dirty filter back in with no additional charge. In the end I paid and additional $75 to my oil change for what I could have done for $20 in parts, a screw driver, and 15 minutes in a parking lot somewhere. Moral of the story, always ask them for estimates on the work they try to tack on before you okay them to do it.

I had never been to Midas before and went because a friend was getting her car inspected, so I made an appointment. First off the lady at the front desk is not very personable. Got my car inspected and they failed it. They were going to charge me $650 to get my inner tie rods replaced, patch a nail in a tire, and put a light bulb on my liscense plate. I took it elsewhere to get repaired for less than half of their price. Ive been back 4x to get it re-inspected and have even called and the lady tells me one of the following: were packed bring it in tomorrow(and when i do bring it in the next day she tells me the same thing), the state inspector that did your car isnt here you have to wait because hes the only one who can re-inspect the car, itll be a couple hours. You cant make an appointment to get it re-inspected its first come first serve...They open at 730, I got there at 745 and she told me they couldnt get to my car until 1030 because there were 2 cars ahead of me for re-inspection...since when did it take almost 3 hours to inspect 2 other cars??? Bad service, bad customer service, bad prices...I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND MIDAS AND ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!

This place used to be pretty good. Bruce and Sarah have always been behind the counter when I visit.. I usually service all minor repairs on the vehicles in my home.. With that in mind, I bought my 04 VW Passat in for them to diagnose why the oil pressure light spontaneously comes on after a broken oil dipstick replacement and oil change. Id already done a bit of research to know their were 4 possible reasons and had factored the others out but I went in to get an "expert" opinion..Bruce told me about everything else wrong with the car except for the reason the oil pressure was low and then had the nerve to offer me a $139 oil pressure test..The oil pressure indicator light on the car is why I brought the car in (it says oil press. Low)...Its like he was just given a vehicle with outknowing why it was there. I had to convince myself to go back after they screwed up the wheel alignment on my 00 Acura TL and had my steering wheel turned to right the day before thanksgiving..I would be a fool to go back and its a shame because my mom highly recommends Midas..now I wonder if shes been bamboozled aswell.
