Our move took us from Fairfax, VA. to Hillsboro, Oregon in mid-July 2016. I initially wanted to choose my mover so interviewed 5 companies. After finding them more or less the same in approach and listening skills, I opted to have the Government company (MMI) handle the move for us. I requested that Interstate be my #1 choice, and was delighted they could accommodate me on very short notice. This is not an easy move to manage. We ended up with only 6800 lbs. but we were treated with respect and informed along the way, very professionally, by several members of the Interstate team. Let me start by listing my preparation for the movers: -Every little item was taken off, packed away or bagged up to prevent loss in general -Everything that could be dismantled, protected, turned inside out was done by me -Things were grouped, labeled, organized like crazy for the packers -I fed my crew lunch, I gave them water and tipped very generously for their utmost concern and dedication to my goods -Every little detail was prepped for them so that I was an active participant in my move -Stacey P. in the office, who was our liaison with Interstate and MMI, was the most responsive person Ive met in a long time -Mike Stine gave me an honest quote and was the first person out when I called all 5 companies. -Donnie, who took our goods all the way from start to finish, was the absolute best driver, mover and all around human being Ive had the honor to meet this summer. He hired hard working fellows on both ends who respected our things and were compensated for it by us. -We had 12 crates hand built for high value pieces and they worked with Stacey to coordinate beautifully the building and disassembling of the crates...no damage. The crate crew were tipped as well. -Did I have damage? No. I am missing a box, but will not claim it. I have no idea where it ended up, but anything valuable was listed separately and insured for that value. -If you really take the time to watch these fellows work, and the logistics involved with taking freight across this country and managing it from start to finish, I would hope that you would gain a really huge appreciation for the hard-working people who do this for a living. My belief is that you treat them well and in return they remember. Taking a sideline armchair approach may invite the same from them. Im just saying..... Thank you to all the hard working folks at Interstate for taking care of my household goods this summer. I wish you all continued health and Happy Trails!

We looked at different companies to help us moving from VA to GA. We chose Interstate | Box Cart because of its promises regarding quality and safety, even though they charge a higher price. But unfortunately this is not what happened. Things that were promised but NOT delivered: - The goods would be moved securely in the truck, nothing loose. You can see one of the pictures from inside the truck, how our things were stacked in a bad way and caused many damages that were not fixed/reimbursed properly. - Our things would be storage in locked containers, we would buy our own padlocks and keep the keys. Nobody besides us would open the containers. We never reopened the padlocks, we have no idea how our stuff was in the storage, and they lost our padlocks. ((Detail: We asked for reimbursement for 7 lost padlocks ($ 9 each) and they only paid 4 units (and considered $ 3.75 each)) - Our carpets would be protected with a special rubber fabric that was shown to us during our contract. We never saw this protection, and when asked for the delivery men to protect the carpet as promised, they started to put cheap wrapping tape in our carpet – it was getting sticky and we asked to stop. The sales person apologized and said that we would get a professional carpet cleaning after the move, but this service was denied and it never got cleaned by them. - The insurance we bought would cover damaged items. We had a completely destroyed coffee table (worth $ 199, they reimbursed only $ 24), our Zody office chair had a broken arm (worth $ 769, they paid ridiculous $ 12), a broken wood stool ($ 39, paid $ 12), a lost book shelf that was not paid, and others. Plus dirty sofa with oil stain that I had to clean by myself. - Our insurance claim would take at most 2 months to be completed, it took almost 3 months and it would probably take longer if we were not insisting to get things solved. We tried multiple times to solve everything in a friendly way. Because we had no success, I decided to leave this realistic review. See the pictures attached to this review. They are self-explanatory.

This is a terrible moving company. My husband works for the Governemnt and we have moved several times. We have always had a good experience until now. This moving company needs to spend more time training their employees. During the pack out the guys were playing their music loud on their phones. One guy was playing some pretty sensual music, haha. It must have distracted them from their job because someone put three glass lamp shades, a beautiful blown glass bowl I got for my wedding and a subwoofer all in one box together! None of the glass items in that box were packed properly and they were all broken. Our living room couch and chair were brand new and when it arrived the wooden legs had chunks missing from them because they werent protected correctly. Our tv stand was also broken and now the drawers dont pop open like they should. When the movers arrived to our new house it took four men 4 hours to unload boxes that came from a 1 bedroom 800sqft apartment. That is probably because two of them stood in the house waiting while the one young guy went back and forth from the truck grabbing boxes. Then the two guys inside would take a box to a room. We live in a small ranch style home they didnt have to go far to deliver the box. The fourth guy stayed in the truck the whole time moving boxes to the front of the truck. There were two older men who were clearly struggling to carry boxes. They also had an extremely hard time getting the one large item we had (couch) in the house. I cant imagine what it would have been like if we had a ton of furniture. One of them had no teeth, he smelled and he kept talking about a medical procedure he recently had done (the entire move). When it was time to do the evaluation that same guy stood over my husbands shoulder while he filled it out. How can someone be honest about their experience while the mover reads their responses over their shoulder?? Anway, as you can see bad experience. Take some time, do a little research and find a company that puts more effort into training their movers.

I dont have my things. I was promised delivery TODAY! And that was only after a series of unfun screw-ups. 1. When I phoned in to get an estimate and make my pick-up reservation, Samantha was courteous and assured me that: A. The estimate included all packing materials, the moving crews fee, and all other fees. B. That I would receive my household goods at the destination on the date I specified as long as we scheduled the pick-up 7-10 days in advance of my needed delivery date. C. I must say I was really pleased with Samanthas attention to detail over the phone with me. I was also really happy with the price because it was about $600.00 less expensive than going with U-pack. And with U-pack I would have had to both load and unload the truck on my own. D. Samantha also promised that I could simply pay-in-full up front and would then only need to pay any excess if my amount of things went over the estimate. BUT that the way their system worked I had to do it in two separate payments. First a deposit to lock in my reservation, and THEN she would send me a separate payment form so I could pay the balance. Samantha never kept her promise. And when I wrote her about it, she kept sending me only the original deposit form not the one with the remaining balance. I was too busy to keep tracking her down over the next two weeks so i let it slide. E. Samantha promised also that I would not have to make any payments in cash or by money order.
