I arrived to my appointment on time for my 8am appointment and when I got there I was informed that my stylist was running late, 10-15 minutes because she had to take her sons football equipment to her husband. I did not know this information until I arrived. One of the other stylist called someone else while I waited but the stylist did not say anything to me once she completed her phone conversation. It would have been nice to know, in advance that my stylist would be late so I could have had the option of coming in later for my appointment time or rescheduling it for another day. I waited for 30 minutes and left the salon. I could not afford to sit around and wait to see what time my stylist would arrive, or if she would arrive. I was very displeased because I wasted not only my time, but my gas and I was unable to get my locs washed and retwisted, to make matters worse, I never received a telephone call offering an apology for my missed appointment or for my inconvenience. I would not recommend this hair salon- Chesapeake Location

They are very unprofessional i went because it was black owned trying to support my people anyway my appoiment was at 10am the shop didnt open till eleven i had to wait longer cause they put t here regulars in front of me.....all i wanted was a tapered hairstyle on my natural hair the owner said i can do this in my sleep then went hacking away at my hair without even combing it out first sooo i was in pain i asked her if she wanted me to comb it out she said noooo not necessary......im not a hair stylist but i have watched a couple of youtube videos to know that aint right...i should have hopped out that chair then...smh anyway my cut was ugly she took off to much and the color they put in did it totally wrong.....the only thing good i can say about them is they know how to handle dredlocks....and that is all they dont need to do nothing else but deadlocks!!!!!soooo serious.....but even then like i said in the begging they are very unprofessional

Diamond Springs location. First of all this place is very expensive. She wanted to charge me $170 for starter locs. She said the price was high because my hair is too long. My hair comes to my collar bone its not like it was down my back. Then proceeded to tell me its just like going to the African braiding. I have never went to African braiding I do my own hair. I wanted a professional because I cannot see in the back of my head. They seem friendly. But the lady told me I could not get two strand twists as a method to start my locs. I looked at her like she was crazy. lol everyone knows that is a good method. I did call to set up the appointment and left s message, which was fine. But the lady that called me back was a little rude. But its all good. I will just try to do them myself because this is a black shop thats robbing black people. And they only take cash. Which would have been nice to know before the appointment.

Gave them 3 tries and Im out. My first appt the girl let me walk out with uneven fuzzy locs. Didnt bother fixing what I cant see. I called for them to fix them and I came back the owner took care of it. She then tells me to go to her from now on. I make another appt. for 11am didnt get out until 4pm. She was trying to manage her business over taking care of me the client. At the end she asked if I wanted an updo. I was thinking maybe shes making up for this long wait with a free offer. Sike! She charged me for it. On top of that, I didnt like the style she gave me so she got more frustrated and told her other stylist to do it. The professionalism is at an all time low. I love love lovvvvve my black sisters and brothers trying to run a successful business but this is not how. Sadly, I will not be returning.

Okay so I have been growing my locks for 5 years and NEVER had scissors anywhere near them (for a reason and I told the stylist this). They recommended I get them trimmed due to fuzziness along side each lock. Okay fine so be it. I did not notice until I had gotten home that JURINA had took it upon herself without asking me first to cut of locs that were split at the ends. THEY WERE LIKE THAT FOR A REASON! So thanks to her my hair is now gone and I have to start over again. Like is it that hard to ask someone before just cutting their hair beyond what you explained to them you would do?? Now I had been to the Virginia Beach location a few times but this is the main reason for the past 5 years that I do my hair myself. Never trusting a "professional" again.

I recently moved from NJ to Va and had been diligently looking for a salon to maintain my locs. I did my research and lo and behold....I have found my new loctician! Denise ( owner) made me feel welcome from the moment I walked through her doors! The salon is beautiful and CLEAN, the staff are knowledgeable and courteous and the atmosphere felt like I was among friends. I came a bit early and I didnt have to wait long and was in and out in a VERY timely manner. They are very affordable (and I have long locs) and I will MOST DEFINATELY be making this my new home spot. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this salon!!! 5 THUMBS UP!!! Thanks again Denise♡♡♡

I took my daughter to the Chesapeake location this morning for an 8AM appointment. Tanye was fantastic. My daughter is 5 years old and has never been to a hair salon to have her hair done. The stylist was not only gentle with my daughter but also listened to all my questions about how to care for my daughters mixed hair. I will most certainly be returning to Da Notty Roots to have my daughters hair cut and styled. Also their prices are very reasonable. A cut, wash and style done by a professional that is great with kids for $50? Heck yes Ill pay that price.

I called the shop around 1pm on today, a Saturday, and to my surprise they were able to fit me right in. I arrived around 1:30 to a pretty busy shop and my first thought was OMG, Im going to be in here all day. Not so...I was washed, dried, styled, and out the door by 3:30. The girl that did my shampoo job...MAGIC FINGERS!!! All the ladies were nice, a nice down to earth environment, and the price was affordable. I think I finally found a place to maintain my LovelyLocs. Thank you ladies, you will definitely be seeing more of me, I love my hair!!

Today was day 1 of my new start. Yes, I started my locs today. Denise was very nice and professional. She took the time out to explain the locking process and what I could expect and how to maintain my locs. A happy and pleasant environment as well. I enjoyed my first experience here and will be back for my upkeep. They are busy but you never have to wait long! Thats a plus for me. This is the place to go for your favorite natural hairstyles and lovely locs!
