Requested bids from quite a few roofing enterprises before selecting the Roof Doctor. The bids ranged from about $6k to $14k for a nominal 2,000 square foot ranch home. Roof Doctor came in at $11,500 but the final bill was $14k after adding tax plus $1k for some serious chimney repair and a bunch of new fan exhaust vents. I ended up selecting the Roof Doctor because I knew they were insured, they are kind of local, and my roof was in really bad shape and I didnt know what kind of surprises they were going to find once they started taking off the old shingles. A crew of eight showed up at 7:30AM in the morning. They were in 2 trucks. One for dumping the old shingles into and the other with all the stuff for putting on the new roof. Shingles were off by about 10:30. Crew foreman advised me of the ventilation and chimney issues and I approved the options he had advised. They had all the materials for dealing with all the options already in the truck so nobody had to go running for stuff they didnt have. The job was complete, including a thorough sweep and vacuuming of grounds adjacent to the house, by about 5:30PM.
