So I chose to go to this place because it had such great reviews and it was close to school. I was really nervous already because I worked at a salon and spa for six years in Ohio (in the spa) and I am pretty aware of what a good cut and color looks like. Plus it was in such a nice spot in Kirkland that I thought it had to be nice. I should have known it was a bad sign when I could get in so quickly. Well established stylist usually are not wide open that day and the next day when scheduling the appointment. And then I found out it was the owner which really was a bad sign. I asked for a long bob with balayage highlights. I showed a couple a pictures and she just kept saying, "ya ya ya ya ya." Man, even sitting in the chair watching her cut made my stomach turn because I knew it was a bad cut job in the making. It didnt even look like a bob for one thing, just really choppy layers which I didnt even want. The front was uneven as well as the back. It was like a Great Clips haircut for a swanky salon price...$130 down the drain and I just shook my head walking away. I felt like I had to write a review to help deter the next victim.

Walked in to 88 without an appointment and walked out with exactly what I described even though I did not bring any pictures with me. Jamie saw me immediately for a cut, color and highlights. The haircut is free with color for first timers - unexpected deal! Jamie told me my search was over when I mentioned I had been looking for a regular salon/stylist for a while. I thought that was a bold claim since she only started at 88 a little over a week ago, but she lived up to it. Jamie is actually quite experienced, just new to 88. She listened very well, obviously enjoys working with hair and is a perfectionist. I have very thick hair and she took the time to blow dry in layers, something many stylists have not bothered to do in the past. Jamie cut the hair wet, then finished up with more cutting after drying to make sure the hair fell exactly where she wanted as hair can shrink quite a bit when dried. Street parking was easy to find and free, though parking could be challenging during peak hours for nearby restaurants.

I will start with the fact that I am very picky about my hair-cuts, I would said at this point I am a salon condenser . I have had a fair share of not exactly what I wanted cuts. After my regular stylist had gone out of business I had tried a few other salons, but none to be my favorite. I had seen a deal and looked at my shagginess of unwilling to get my haircut. I was able to be seen right away. I was very pleased that the cut included wash and style and that the seat we were working in was not right in the spot light of everyone and their dog to see. I was working with Tramle today and I am pleased with her work. She had suggestions but also followed with what I was looking for. I had very specific instructions not to cut these two parts of my hair. What I was amazed by is that she did stop along the haircut to make sure certain parts were to be cut. She showed great passion to make sure that I was happy with my cut, and that I am. We took before and after pictures. She was very nice and high energy!

Hey Everyone, How awesome it was to be able to schedule my hair appointment on a Sunday. I met Susan who was a breath of fresh air. Shes talented, professional, bubbly, energized, and most of all happy in life. Susan analyzed my hair. We discussed options, and she got right down to making me as beautiful as possible. She likes it when you bring in a picture of what you like (either style or color), but its not necessary. She loves what she does, and it shows. I have found my new stylist. I left the salon smiling and I still have a grin. Continued success to the 88 Kirkland Salon.

I chose this place for a simple trim based off of how close it was to home, but lucked out big time by being paired up with Katie. She is a huge sweetheart and great at what she does. Ive gotten trims and Brazilian Blow outs with her a few times and will absolutely be back again.
